Ivy's POV
Ada stared at me, disbelief etched across her face. "What does that even mean?" She rolled her eyes dramatically. "And how does any of that explain why you're sitting here with her?"
Something snapped in Cara. She slammed her palm against the table and shot to her feet, whirling toward Ada with fury. "It means you're nothing but a selfish, shallow alpha, and whoever ends up mated to you will either be equally worthless or cursed by the goddess herself!"
Ada recoiled as if physically struck. "What?"
"Nobody chooses to be friends with you, Ada," Cara continued, her voice cutting like a blade before she dropped back into her seat. "Not unless they're just as mean-spirited as you. The only reason any of us tolerate you is because our parents told us to maintain connections with you because of your rank. Nothing else."
Ada's eyes glistened, tears threatening to spill. Her gaze darted desperately between her supposed friends. "Yasmin? Lewis?"
