Chapter 214 - Chapter 214 Dawn Breaks 8

Pei Dai entered the ward wearing a body camera.

Su Qing took simple notes.

Towards the end, Su Qing wanted to inquire about the progress of the previous case, but Pei Dai refused.

The complexity of the case was imaginable.

"Su Qing, even if we file a separate lawsuit for intentional injury, that's still possible."

Su Qing nodded at Pei Dai's words.

"But I want multiple punishments."

Her eyes were bright, yet shimmering with a cold glint.

Pei Dai nodded. "Okay, but we'll have to wait a while for the truth to come out. We have some clues now, but Tian Shasha keeps claiming she knows nothing, so it's hard to proceed."

Su Qing knew there still missing an opportunity.

Based on Li Fuguang's words just now, his power was too great, and his arrogance too strong.

It was natural for Tian Shasha to refuse to reveal anything. She had already thought of it, hadn't she?

Pei Dai hadn't expected Su Qing's maturity and growth in just a few months of not seeing her—it was astonishing.

Of course, he also knew about the girl's experience.

After a brief inquiry, Pei Dai left.

Only Su Qing and Jiang Sui remained in the ward.

In truth, the two hadn't interacted much since Su Qing regained consciousness, but the young man's care for Su Qing was unquestionable.

Peeled oranges were piled up like a small hill to the side, and the young man seemed absorbed in his task, oblivious to everything else.

His brows were stern, his face expressionless. He only occasionally glanced at the girl lying on bed, asking if she wanted some water or to go to the toilet.

Su Qing shook her head, looking at the boy's dry lips and gaunt face.

She reached out and grasped Jiang Sui's fingers as he peeled an orange.

"Okay, that's enough."

She saw that he had almost peeled a bag of oranges. It would be a waste if couldn't finish too many.

Jiang Sui paused, somewhat hesitant to look at Su Qing. He pursed his lips, still clutching the remaining half of the orange in his hand, the peel falling into his palm.

Some thin white stems and leaves were still entwined around the orange.

"Okay, I won't peel it."

The boy took a long time to respond to Su Qing's words. His emotions didn't seem to fluctuate that much.

However, based on Su Qing's understanding of the boy's condition over the past few days, she knew that his condition was worsening. He was mostly silent, but he took meticulous care of her. When she was looking at him, he never looked back at her, but when she wasn't looking at him, he was secretly watching her.

Jiang Sui froze his fingers, letting Su Qing hold his hand for a moment, then stared at Su Qing blankly.

"Would you like some water?"

This was what he often said to her, asking her if she was thirsty, tired, hungry, or if she needed to go to the toilet.

Su Qing shook her head.

"I'm not thirsty. Your mouth is dry. Drink some."

Su Qing reached for the water cup, but the boy stopped her.

Jiang Sui quickly drank half the water from the cup and quickly placed it on the table.

Su Qing pursed her lips.

He was always like this, wanting to be close to her, but avoiding her, drowning in self-blame.

Su Qing's eyes shone with a hint of sadness.

Su Rao's passed away had left her with an indelible wound, an emotion she could barely control.

Su Qing knew that her own reaction, or perhaps her mother's passed away, combined with all these events, had likely returned the boy to his original, closed-off existence.

It must have been Jiang Sui's state when his mother left, the only difference being that Jiang Sui had met her. He didn't want to let go, yet he was in deep pain.

In the boy's shattered eyes, Su Qing could clearly see her own reflection and the boy's pain.

"I'm done."

Jiang Sui blankly showed Su Qing the cup of water, proving he'd drunk it.

"Jiang Sui, you can't do this anymore. If you do, how can we hold Mom's funeral together?"

Su Qing's expression was filled with pain and sorrow, an indelible sadness that stung the young man.

Jiang Sui looked up at Su Qing with a stunned expression.

"Qing Qing, don't cry. What do you want from me? Just tell me. I can do it. Don't chase me away."

His voice was low and urgent.

Within the impenetrable walls, a thick sadness lingered, refusing to dissipate.

Within these walls, Su Qing knew she was there, and so was the young man. Right now, the young man had lost his way in agony, and even in pain, she couldn't let him get lost.

She would lead him out.

Listening to Jiang Sui's words, Su Qing pursed her lips.

"Have you been taking any medicine lately?"

Jiang Sui lowered his eyes, not daring to look at Su Qing again. He even felt like letting go of Su Qing's fingers. His self-loathing was a form of imprisonment.

Seeing Jiang Sui's fingers no longer holding her, Su Qing's eyes lifted slightly and rested on Jiang Sui.

"Jiang Sui, if you let go, I'll never let you hold my hand again."

These words deeply stung the young man, even directly breaking down the wall within his heart.

It shocked him deeply.

His fingers, about to release, quickly, with incredible swiftness, grasped Su Qing's wrist.

"I won't let go. Let me hold your hand."

His pupils held a trace of brokenness as he looked at Su Qing eagerly, desperately wanting a definitive answer from the young woman.

His reaction surprised Su Qing, but it wasn't surprising either.

"Well, if you won't let go, I'll let you hold on. So, are you going to take the medicine?"

Her tone was extremely patient, her expression devoid of any overly emotional expression. Her indifferent, almost imperceptible gaze swept across the boy's face, his head bowed.

Her lips moved for a moment.

He hesitated, but fearing he was speaking too slowly, he spoke slowly.

"Drink, is it too late to drink now?"

He looked at Su Qing, his eyes shimmering with unspeakable fear.

"There's still time. Drink now. I want to drink too. Let's drink together, is that okay?"

Su Qing's words seemed to successfully please the young man. He gradually regained his composure and spoke.

"Okay."

He nodded, looking handsomely dazed, a bit silly and cute.

Su Qing's heart softened.

Watching Jiang Sui, he began to take her usual medication from a nearby drawer, then took his own medicine.

He placed it in Su Qing's palm, then pulled out the candy he usually gave her from his pocket.
