Toffee is a sweet candy that sticks to teeth, and Jiang Sui doesn't like it.
As he chewed it to the end, a wave of milky flavor spread throughout his mouth. Jiang Sui played with the candy wrapper he'd placed inside.
It was covered with a single rabbit, with two large ears and two whiskers on its face—very cute. A thought crossed his mind, and a smile crossed his eyes.
"Brother Sui, where did you get that candy? Give me one too," Hu Yifan leaned over to Jiang Sui, his eyes rolling. J
Jiang Sui tossed another candy into his mouth in front Hu Yifan's eyes.
"If you want to eat, buy it yourself."
Squinting his eyes, he looked at the thin, frail girl in the front row.
She was currently talking to her deskmate, the two of them jostling each other.
The inevitable physical contact brought a hint of impatience to Jiang Sui's face, and the smile that had just begun to emerge was suppressed.
He pulled out his phone and typed a text message.
What did he write?
Because the bell rang, Su Qing didn't check her phone.
Su Qing didn't read the text until after her evening study session.
The sky was overcast, and she was busy packing her bag and rushing home to review the English test papers she hadn't thoroughly studied.
She was leaving on Sunday morning, and she was still a little nervous.
The wind in Wuzhen was particularly strong tonight, and Su Qing's frail frame felt like it was being pushed along. It was the same route home she always took, except that the sky seemed especially dark.
She had no choice but to pull the flashlight Su Rao had prepared for her from her bag. As she was descending the stairs, Su Qing felt a distinct sense of someone following her, but when she turned back, she saw nothing.
She shook her head, suppressing the fear and terror within.
The more she tried to suppress it, the more her mind replayed horror stories and terrifying scenes, replaying like a movie.
Su Qing bit her lip, clutching the flashlight tightly.
"You must be Su Qing, right?"
At the staircase at the familiar corner, the sycamore tree rustled eerily in the wind.
Su Qing's body trembled, and she turned decisively, only to find her head completely covered by a piece of clothing.
In the darkness, the girl protected her head and curled up into a ball, minimizing the damage, as if she were quite experienced.
Not a word, not a single word.
She made no sound, biting her lip tightly.
Tears streamed down her cheeks.
"Is this okay?"
It was a girl's voice, as if discussing how to get things done, and there was a hint of ridiculous pity woven into the conversation.
Then there was the sound of a crackling sound, but the cloth covering Su Qing's body was not lifted.
She probably couldn't see their faces. A long moment passed, the sky dark, so dark that a light rain began to fall. Su Qing curled up, then slowly unfurled.
With difficulty, she lifted her hand to remove the cloth bag from her head.
Cigarette butts lay beside her. She stared blankly into the distance, tears staining her face. She didn't need a mirror to know how utterly miserable she looked.
How could she let Su Rao see her like this?
Su Qing bit her lip. Her phone screen was shattered, blurry, and still displayed a string of unread text messages. She clicked on them.
[Su Qing, you know what I want, don't you?]
Boys act recklessly and unchecked.
Some are born rich and powerful, free to do whatever they want, while others are trapped in the mud from the start, unable to climb out.
If he wants something, does that mean I must give it to him, must I obey him?
Su Qing's lips curled in a mocking smile, the blood at the corners of her mouth piercing.
She simply didn't believe it, and she simply didn't want his wish fulfilled.
So what?!
