Running at full tilt, Lancer soon spotted Olga Marie and the others. Currently, the silver-ash haired Olga Marie was wearing a magnificent silver gown, surrounded by several glowing magic circles. These circles could autonomously fire various simple attack spells even without her direct control. Meanwhile, she held her staff with both hands, eyes closed, silently chanting familiar incantations.
Each incantation lasted only a few seconds, but every time one ended, an entire section of Familiars was completely wiped out.
The reason she could chant and cast so easily was entirely due to a loyal "guardian" protecting her.
The "plush suit" Zero had been wearing was gone, replaced by a white dress. She stood with arms crossed atop a massive "crawling creature." Its powerful limbs were enough to tear weak Familiars apart, while the appendages lining its sides assisted its hands in the slaughter.
Lancer expression was incredibly complicated when he saw this thing. He had once killed something very similar to it. He'd been confident back then, but he'd still suffered a minor setback under its attack. Fortunately, this time, it was an "ally."
The tentacle-like Kagune were now replaced by strange metal strips, making them even more lethal. It was thanks to this protection that Olga Marie could focus on her spells.
Just then, a voice spoke from behind Olga Marie.
"Sorry I'm late."
The corners of Olga Marie serious mouth twitched into a small smile. She didn't stop her chanting, only complaining in a low voice after she finished.
"If you're late, then get to work."
Generally, every Witch possesses a large number of Familiars, but they usually fall into just a few categories, mostly related to their "despair."
For example, the Familiars Sayaka Miki would have controlled had the appearance of Hitomi Shizuki and Kyosuke Kamijo. Nagisa Momoe's Familiars were bees searching for cake. Even the Witch Homura Akemi became in one timeline controlled Familiars shaped like other magical girls. But now—
"Elephants, dragons, demons, knights... quite the eye-opener."
Though his words sounded appreciative, Lancer expression was frozen. He felt as if he could see the despair experienced by the masters behind these Familiars.
Girls full of hope had collapsed into despair, and that despair transformed into tangible monsters, bringing a level of devastation equal to the hope they had once created.
He gripped his spear tightly, his teeth grinding with a sound that would make anyone's skin crawl. His face shifted from serious to a twisted, almost manic expression.
Lancer felt himself being influenced by the negative emotions generated by the "Witch," but at this moment, he didn't want to think too much. He simply wanted to vent his rage. That was all.
Kyubey true face was exposed; at least for now, he didn't have to worry about them being tricked again. He could focus all his attention on the frontline and go full throttle.
A massive elephant, built like a tank, charged at Lancer. Holding his spear with both hands, he braced against the heavy stomp from above. Then, he thrust upward, a direct stab piercing its throat and skewering its brain. The massive body collapsed and eventually shattered completely.
A dragon flying in the sky stared down at the "tiny" being below. But while it hesitated on when to attack, the target vanished from its sight. When it caught him again, he was already on its back. Pshht! With a strange sound, two massive wings were torn to shreds. The terrifying body fell from the sky, but when the dust cleared, the creature was gone, replaced by a silhouette holding a spear in a downward-stabbing posture.
A hideous demon entangling with Zero was suddenly struck in the heart by a red spear thrown from a distance, pinning it firmly to a wall. As it tried to pull the spear out of its heart, a figure followed up, gripping the shaft with both hands and slamming a knee into its abdomen. Rrip! With a massive wound and a spray of black blood landing on the silhouette, the figure ignored it entirely. Disregarding the writhing giant beneath him, he swung the red spear in a horizontal sweep, decapitating it.
Black knights constantly charging out of a rift were battering the defensive line Olga Marie had created. But suddenly, a blood-colored shadow surged against this iron flow. Whether they held lances, swung swords, or brandished warhammers, none could slow him down. Every knight was struck in the heart or throat before they could even make a move, falling straight from their twisted mounts. After breaking through the final shield formation, Lancer thrust his right hand into the black rift and crushed a blackened crucifix necklace...
In the midst of the non-stop slaughter, Lancer finally understood some basic facts about "Walpurgisnacht." These "Familiars" undoubtedly proved that the Witch manipulating them behind the scenes was not a modern being, but an ancient one. This was evident from the gear the Familiars wore, and they came from various places.
Outfits with feathers in the hair suggested the Americas; terrifying white bears from the polar circles; sphinxes carved with gold decorations from Egypt; abstract elephants from India; female generals with naginata from Japan; and knights in armor carved with crosses from the Crusades...
Magical girls from different regions and different eras had experienced despair and, under the manipulation of someone with an agenda, transformed into disasters that destroyed humanity. Lancer could hardly imagine how many Grief Seeds Kyubey had collected, and how many tragic stories were hidden behind them.
But what Lancer did know was that when his spear pierced the last enemy, the dark clouds in the sky had completely covered the area.
Amidst the howling wind, Lancer stood silently like a statue, spear in hand. He was waiting for the arrival of "Walpurgisnacht."
Suddenly, the gale that had been whipping around him stopped abruptly, as if a pause button had been pressed.
Amidst a burst of eerie laughter, a massive figure wearing a magnificent dress forced its way out of the dark clouds. Looking up at that bizarre existence, Lancer expression became incredibly grave. After all, the coming enemy was on a completely different level than the small fry before.
