Chapter 728 - Chapter 29: Die!

With Olga Marie help, Lancer found the entrance to the "Barrier." However, there was no time for her to analyze it, so Lancer opted for the simplest and most violent method.

"Boom!!"

The Phoenix flames on the Reincarnated Gáe Bolg in his right hand ignited instantly. He twisted the motorcycle's throttle to the limit, and with a deafening roar, the gate of the Barrier was utterly shattered.

Once inside the Barrier, Lancer became even more reckless. He no longer had to worry about being seen or causing unnecessary trouble. Steering with one hand, he pulled out his Orbment with the other.

"Wind Wing"

The Orbal art, originally intended to enhance mobility, was cast directly onto the motorcycle. Its already terrifying speed reached a surreal level. Lancer was certain they were exceeding 700 km/h. Only because of his "Riding" skill could he handle the bike this way; even with his reaction speed, a normal person wouldn't dare drive like this. The price, however, was—

"AAAAAHHH!!!"

To find the Barrier's entrance, Olga Marie had been forced to transform. Now wearing her gray dress, she screamed continuously, her hands deathly tight around Lancer waist. It was a good thing Lancer wasn't human; otherwise, Olga Marie—who had forgotten she was an "undead" and was using her full spectral strength—might have accidentally crushed him in a "German Suplex" grip.

However, being held so tightly by her allowed Lancer to gather a piece of rather useless information.

When she transformed, Lancer didn't feel any change in the tactile sensation against his back. This meant the transformation outfit was likely a "Spatial Displacement" ability. He was a bit disappointed; the mechanics of a Magical Girl's transformation had been a curiosity of his since he was a young boy. What a shame...

Disappointment aside, Lancer didn't forget his objective. He refocused entirely on driving.

While he had set up backup plans to ensure Mami Tomoe's safety, the world is never short of "accidents." Being there in person was the only way to truly be at ease.

As he entered a long corridor, his face shifted. Using the enhanced vision of "Eagle Eye," he saw the Sweets Witch opening its massive maw. According to the "world line" he knew, Mami Tomoe's head was about to be bitten off. But in that instant, Mami lunged forward, causing the Witch to snap at thin air.

Breating a sigh of relief, Lancer pinned the throttle. He saw the Sweets Witch open its mouth again; this time, Mami was pinned to the floor, unable to dodge.

An ice road manifested ahead, and Lancer yanked the front wheel up.

"Hold on tight, Olga!"

"AAAAAHHH!!"

If ghosts didn't lack vocal cords, Olga Marie would have surely gone hoarse from screaming this entire trip. She clearly didn't hear Lancer warning; her scream was a pure reflex to the sudden acceleration.

Lancer had no time to worry about her.

"Bam!!"

As the Sweets Witch reeled from the impact with a tire mark across its face, Lancer grabbed Olga Marie and tossed her toward Zero. Simultaneously, the flames on his Reincarnated Gáe Bolg flared up once more.

"Die!!!"

With a roar, Lancer leaped from the motorcycle, gripping his spear in a reverse hold and thrusting downward with all his might.

"Schwing—!!"

The sound of tearing fabric echoed piercingly in the enclosed space. The Sweets Witch, which looked like a giant piece of mochi, was pinned to the floor.

Even so, it didn't stop resisting. Its massive body writhed, trying to break free. But Lancer, who had it nailed down and was stepping on its torso, wasn't about to let it go. The veins in his arms bulged with monstrous strength.

Furthermore, the flames inside the creature had ignited. Realizing it couldn't escape, it opened its mouth, and a smaller version of the Sweets Witch began to float out—a desperate attempt at an "escape pod." But Lancer, knowing its abilities, was prepared.

"Cling! Cling! Cling!"

Dozens of ice blades rained from the sky. Their lethality wasn't enough to kill the Witch, but they were plenty to stop it from fleeing. Like an eternal red lotus fire, the creature was incinerated until nothing remained but a single Grief Seed.

The surroundings began to dissolve. Without the Witch's support, the Barrier collapsed. Unlike before, however, the dissipation was slower. Lancer froze for a moment.

"We need to go!"

The crumbling Barrier left the area full of holes, making escape easy. Everyone looked at Lancer with odd expressions.

"We're in a hospital. Imagine the panic if people suddenly see a bunch of kids materializing out of thin air. Someone will call the police! Zero! Lead us to the roof!"

The strange "monster" beneath Zero had vanished, replaced by a plush suit she wore. She led the way at a speed that defied her short legs. Kaname Madoka and Miki Sayaka glanced back at Lancer, who was now standing by Mami, and followed Zero toward the roof, their worries eased.

On the other side, Mami Tomoe, still dazed, undid her transformation at Lancer prompt. It was better to appear in a crowd as a student than in a magical outfit. As she did, she felt a sharp pain in her knee—a scrape from when she lunged earlier.

In her "Magical Girl" state, she could ignore such minor injuries, but without the transformation, it was a different story. She frowned, trying to stand up, but felt something slide under her arms.

Before she could react, she was flipped over from her stomach to her back. She realized Lancer had picked her up. Lancer, looking straight ahead, didn't seem to notice Mami reaction, but Mami did notice Olga Marie staring at her with a look of pure displeasure.

'Could it be...'

A strange thought crossed Mami mind, making her forget her embarrassment for a moment.

"Mr. Lancer, please put me down. I can walk..."

"We're almost there."

Lancer flatly refused her quiet request. With his speed, they were already at the rooftop entrance. Carried in his arms, Mami was forced to endure Olga Marie stinging gaze until they reached the roof.
