Chapter 13: Tokyo's Underbelly
Logan was on the move again. The brooding loner of the Yukon was now a brooding loner in the bustling, neon-lit streets of Tokyo. Adam, of course, had followed him. He had a network of Finex operatives in Tokyo, a small, but highly effective team of spies and data collectors. They were his eyes and ears in a city where everything was a potential target, and everyone was a potential asset.
"Alright, people. We're on the Logan show, season two. This time, with more ninjas and questionable corporate ethics. I want a full report on the Yashida Corporation. Every ledger, every email, every suspicious transaction. And I want everything you can find on this 'Viper' character. The name alone sounds like a bad Bond villain," Adam said into his comm, a wry smile on his face.
"And here we go. The Japan arc. The part where he gets all introspective and fights a bunch of ninjas and samurai and a giant robot. It's like a video game, but with real people. And real mutant powers. And real opportunities for me to get a piece of the action. Without, you know, actually being in the action. I'm a ghost. Remember? The ghost with the plan," Adam mused, his fingers flying across a holographic keyboard.
The Yashida Corporation was at the center of it all. A multinational corporation with a dark secret: they were trying to steal Logan's healing factor. And they had a weapon, a mutant named Viper, a woman with a powerful, venomous touch and a penchant for scientific experimentation.

Adam was fascinated by Viper's methods. She was a scientist, a geneticist who was trying to replicate Logan's healing factor, to harness its power for her own benefit. She was, in a way, a twisted version of himself. She was trying to do what he was doing, but with a lot more brute force and a lot less finesse. She was a mad scientist. He was a mad genius with a system. There was a difference. He liked to think of it as a professional one.
"She's a hack, really. Trying to steal a healing factor with a giant robot. It's so... unsophisticated. The things people do when they don't have a system to do all the work for them. It's almost sad," Adam muttered, a slight shake of his head. He was learning a lot from her, though. He was learning about the science of X-genes, the way they worked, the way they could be manipulated and controlled. He was learning about the vulnerabilities of a healing factor, the way it could be suppressed and stolen. He was, in short, getting an education.
"The world is my classroom, and the supervillains are my teachers. Who needs a PhD when you have a system that can analyze and store a mutant's power? I'm a genius. A self-taught, morally bankrupt, world-class genius. This is going to be so much fun," Adam thought, a cruel, pragmatic smile on his face.
The world was a dangerous place. The X-Men were fighting a war for the soul of their species, and the Brotherhood was fighting a war for their survival. And in the middle of it all, Adam and Finex were a new, powerful force, a shadow organization that was growing in the darkness, a ghost in the machine. And with every new piece of data, with every new X-gene he acquired, he was getting closer to his goal. He was getting closer to a world where he, Adam Stiels, would be the one in charge.
