Chapter 13 - Reminder

"Why the dim mood? Rune you're meant to be happy that you'll be feeding your eyes tonight," Zavry spoke in a calm tone, his lips curling upwards as he moved gently, placing the plate on the floor.

One hand rested in his pants as he walked slowly to the middle.

The aliens had stopped their chants as they gathered around him…left and right like something else. His lips curled upwards again as his eyes moved to all of them.

"I am guessing they are identical siblings huh"

"You put so much trust in yourself," Rune spoke as Zavry's lips curled up.

"Oh, what can I say? All these aliens gathered here just for me," he shrugged as he continued.

"I am honored."

"Lakala," the main alien spoke, and Zavry clicked his tongue and responded,

"I'm guessing that means they should attack…."

Before he could finish, the aliens began moving with speed toward him. He shrugged as he numbed them—their eyes moved as he leapt high squatting at the top of the underground. Another alien attacked, crawling onto the ceiling of the underground.

They leapt as well, they began crawling to attack, Zavry moved. His sword sliced through their hands and legs, and they began to fall one by one back to the ground. Before the others could even notice,

Zavry had already flung knives that cut their legs. Screeching screams echoed—they weren't dead, but their hands and legs were gone. Yet, the thing was… it seemed the main alien could regrow his limbs.

The alien moved swiftly as it growled their spear began to move. Zavry dodged—left, right, left, left.

The aliens followed. His hands moved fast as he pushed the alien's head to the side with both hands, earning a satisfying crack.

His lips curled up again as he muttered to himself,

"He should be thankful—he just got a free bone relief from me that is like thousands of dollars."

He tilted his head back, his body bending swiftly as the alien missed the punch aimed at him. Zavry caught its leg mid-air, twisted it backwards, and yanked it sharply.

A loud crack echoed, followed by a soft hissing sound as the aliens bone had disconnected from its hip joints—but then the alien moved with unnatural speed, scratching Zavry's face. Zavry moved down, but unfortunately, its pointer finger had sliced into his cheek, and blood rolled down.

"Okay… I'll give him credit," he said as he bent. He summoned heat, raising his hands. The aliens covered their faces as their scales began to burn. Sharp objects started to form from the ground as Zavry shut his eyes, his pointer finger moving in different directions before his thumb stuck out, and then his pinky connected. He rose into the air.

He began kicking the aliens—those without legs and arms…like he was some captain in a football game, sending them flying toward the main one.

Turning swiftly, he moved with purpose. His leg kicked out as he took one alien with his foot, juggling it before tossing it into the air and somersaulting, then kicking it hard swiftly and unnatural speed. He knew exactly what he had just done; the aliens' speed had dropped as Zavry continued kicking the others.

"what are you doing?" Rune asked in confusion, almost in disbelief, as Zavry's hands stayed casually in his trousers while he kicked them.

"They're family. And as he sees them, he's stuck between two decisions—save them, or save his life. That's what's slowing him down," Zavry grinned.

"Stupid emotions weighing him down. Not only does this benefit me, I'll also have extra time to buy some roasted chicken once I leave," he said calmly, kicking the alien bodies over as they stuck deeply into the sharp edges of the place when they flew and landed, greenish liquid gushing out.

Finally, it came down to him and the stubborn one—supposedly their leader.

"This must be their karate teacher… hmm," Zavry mused as he slowly landed on the ground. But to his surprise, the alien swiftly came to him, growling loudly, its face filled with danger and rage.

"He must've realized his siblings are gone and thought to himself… it's time to be a hero. The legend of all legends," Zavry spoke sarcastically.

The alien moved quickly—not its body, but its hands…as blades began flying toward Zavry. He dove swiftly. They weren't blades but rather sharp scales from the alien'd body. Zavry kept dodging, moving swiftly from side to side. He slid through the attacks and just as the alien lunged…its scales still forming—Zavry moved and kicked it in the neck, sending it flying to the side.

He raised his hands, heat enveloping them once more. This time, it burned the alien's face and body. Its scales had already been used—it was trying to grow new ones.Alien's hand brushed the plate nearby. He moved swiftly, bending to where the alien crawled.

"It says DO NOT TOUCH," he said mockingly, pointing at the scorching alien. He used the glass plate to smack it on the alien's head. It fell back, claws growing, even as the heat intensified.

"In your next life, learn spelling," Zavry said. Swiftly, he grabbed the alien's head and smashed it against the plate as it broke, using the broken plate. The plate shattered as Zavry stabbed the alien hard. The place now reeked of a deep, foul stench.

Zavry stood tall.

"Too bad he died so early… he reminded me of my former landlord. They both have bald heads."
