Chapter 1 - Chapter 1 – Age

Introductory Note

I'm a girl who loves to write poems as a hobby. Words feel like my closest companions—they listen without judgment, speak without sound, and carry the weight of emotions that I can't always express aloud. Through them, I share unsaid feelings, untold stories, and the quiet truths that live in my heart. This is one of those poems, written from a place where memory and emotion meet.

Poem: Age

At childhood, seven years oldA stage where every child is builtBy knowledge, principles, and disciplineBut can anyone think what is on the line?

A good environment is neededWhich lets that child be guidedBut if surrounded by fearBefore blooming, it will wither

Seniors are like our protectorsBut if they hunt you like a predatorBy a third party's misleading wordThat you said bad about her father's workload

At the moment she confronts youThen you're explaining "you"Then letting go by saying, "Don't do it again"And forgiving the child to have the upper hand as gain

One day without any warningWhen everything good is happeningThat senior comes and starts bullyingYou seem happy; to start the spoiling

At eight to nine years oldA child had a nice friendship bondA new classmate came, and two became threeAnd everything turned into "we"

But one day, in a flowA brainless child had a back-bitching showWhere they said unwanted wrong thingsBut failed to hold on to everything

Ever seen Friendship Day turn into your end?Where a game player puts all the blame on a childIn the eyes of the bestie, you're becoming meanWithout knowing the full truth, letting them win

What that child did is wrongBut no one sees the truth hidden under a wigAt sunset, the bestie ties the friendship bandBut is that child gonna believe in any bond?

At thirteen years oldEveryone tries to holdAll the relationships of happinessBut some of them end up in sadness

A nerd child, always in studiesNever knows that good moments dieIn truth, a dare game told the truthBelieving in friends turns into her wrath

Trust is the key to understanding each otherBut inside, the child turns into bad weatherIt hurts the child with no returnAs a senior brother is the reason for her burn

At sixteen years oldUnknowingly, the child's life got twisted and mouldedThe child's bestie and classmate are datingAnd from the class, this news is hiding

But the gestures let everyone knowAnd in secret, chase players are movingThe teacher stopped interacting with the childAs that teacher's trust in them turned into wild

In this, wrongdoers fired lies like smokeAnd the child got brokenBetween friends and teacherWhich led the child to the path of a waiter

After a long time, a deep conversationAll doubts are cleared, and a connection is madeBetween the teacher and the victim childBecause a jealous heart did all this in mild

From all these memoriesYou can see the struggles and worriesThat the child had to faceAnd this led to shaping the vase

This isn't the endingBecause it's just the beginningOf a new cycle…

Author's Note – Poem Explanation

"Age" is a journey told in verses — a map of how a child's trust, innocence, and friendships evolve through the different stages of growing up. Each stanza captures a moment in time, starting from the early years when discipline and guidance are shaping forces, moving through school friendships that seem unbreakable, and ending with the harsh lessons of betrayal, misunderstanding, and jealousy.

The poem portrays how one incident — a whisper, a rumor, or an intentional lie — can change how others see you. It shows how a child can be made a villain in their friends' eyes without the truth ever being heard. Through ages 7, 9, 13, and 16, the same child faces new versions of the same test: trust is given, trust is broken, and wounds are left behind.

The ending reflects resilience. Even though the child is hurt, those memories shape her like a vase being formed — every crack and curve telling a story. The line "This isn't the ending… it's just the beginning of a new cycle" reminds us that life keeps moving, and with every stage comes another lesson in strength, forgiveness, and self-discovery.
