Chapter 7 - 7

Chapter 7

Selene Wolfe

My mom's face went pale with shock. "A…alpha Storm…"

Her eyes shifted to me, giving me the 'why didn't you tell me it was him?' look.

"I… I think there is a misunderstanding here, Alpha."

Mom took a step back as he turned to her.

I'd only heard stories about him… or maybe seen him once, though that memory was too hazy to trust.

I curled my nails into my palm, unsure how to feel about this. The rumours I heard about him weren't good ones. He was a powerful Alpha whom other Alphas tremble just at the mention of his name. He was rumoured to be ruthless. Why did it have to be him of all people?

He closed the distance between us, his deep blue eyes piercing into mine softly. "Are you okay?" His voice was soft, and heat crept up my chest as he held my hand.

"Hmm.. I'm fine."

That was all he needed before he turned to my mom and said. "Crimson's partnership with Wyrmshade Pack ends today. And all protection will be cancelled too."

Mom's jaw dropped, her eyes widened as reality hit her hard.

"You… you can't do that, Alpha. This is a misunderstanding. I will fix this." For the first time in ten years, I saw fear in mom's eyes.

She turned to me. "Selene, you need to tell him that he misunderstood me. I wasn't hurting you, right?"

Her hands trembled as she reached for my hand, but I took a step back. She never treated me like I was her daughter. She was going to kill my baby if Alpha Storm didn't show up. Why should I lie to defend her?

"Let go of me." A drop of tear slid down my cheeks as I yanked her hand off. "I'm sure Seraphine will not mind helping you out."

She tightened her jaw. "What? How could you say that to me, Selene? I raised you!"

My heart twisted in my chest. She raised me? She must be a joker.

"Let's go." Heat blossomed in my chest as Alpha Storm held my hand gently.

"You can't take her away." Mom interjected, holding my other hand. "You can't take my daughter away from me."

I scoffed silently.

"I raised her, Alpha Storm. This is not a way to treat the mother of the woman carrying your child."

Alpha Storm paused, eyes locked on her, his firm voice cracked through the air. "Forcing an abortion pill down your daughter's throat… is that how to treat your own daughter?"

She bit her lip, turning her face away, and without another word, Alpha Storm led me out of the doctor's office.

As we stepped out of the hospital, the harsh reality hit me. My brain finally started to function.

I stopped walking, and he did the same.

"Thank you for saving me… I can take it from here."

He furrowed his brows. "What?"

"I think you are mistaking me for someone else. I'm… I'm not carrying your pup." My voice quivered as I took a step back, my eyes scanning everywhere else except looking at him.

I heard him scoff, and as I lifted my gaze, he held his phone in my face. A video of me staggering into the room played on the screen.

He swiped on the phone screen, and another video popped up. It was the next morning as I rushed out of the room, and him stepping out of the room next with a towel wrapped around his waist.

I curled my fingers into my palm, my breath stuttered.

"You and my pup are going to be in danger if you stay back here. Come with me." And without another word, he headed to the parking lot, and I knew I had only one choice… To follow him.

My legs trembled beneath me as I dragged them to the car, hopping in the backseat with him.

"Drive."

My heart raced as the car rolled out of the hospital.

I fondled my fingers, my eyes stylishly locked on him as he stared out of the car. His light skin glowed flawlessly beneath the sunlight. For a second, my fingers itched to touch his sharp jawline, but I resisted it, quickly looking away.

We reached Crimson Pack.

As I stepped out of the car, my breath caught in my throat. The mansion towered ahead of me, ascending to the sky. Grand… dark, and intimidatingly beautiful.

It was way more beautiful than the packhouse back in the Wyrmshade Pack.

My eyes swept over the path leading to it. Admiring the carefully trimmed ball-shaped bushes lining the path.

I followed Alpha Storm, heart pounding in my chest, legs trembling beneath me, and many questions lingering on my mind, but the one question that hit harder? What does fate have in store for me here? Will it be better here than staying with mom?

My thoughts were disrupted the moment we stepped into the packhouse, and a young lady stood in front of us. Eyes locked on me.

Heat blossomed in my chest, and cold shivers ran down my spine. She smelled like damp soil and smoke… like something ancient, dangerous.

'Who is she?'

The atmosphere tensed. The air thickened around me, and my breath stuttered.

"Who is she?" She lifted her gaze to the Alpha, her voice sharp.

Her eyes flickered with rage as Alpha Storm held my hand, but the spark I felt disrupted me from taking in what she really felt at that moment.

"Let's talk later, Sophie." And without another word, he walked past her.

But her voice cut through the thick air, full of rage. "Is this what you do now? Drag home strays and expect me to just watch? I am your fiancée, Alpha. And I deserve an explanation."

I froze. My eyes shot open. Fiancée?

Alpha Storm paused as he let go of my hand and turned to her. "I told you that we will talk later, Sophie."

My legs weakened, tears blurred my vision, but I fought it back. He already has a fiancée. That means there's no place for my child and me here.

Oh goddess! Every time I dared to hope, life reminded me I didn't belong. Not to my mother. Not to this pack. Not even to the man who saved me.

"Let's go."

My eyes met Sophie's as I looked back. I knew that look even though I was just seeing her for the first time. It was a look of danger. I think I'm fucked.

My legs shook as he led me away.

I was so overwhelmed by everything that I lost the strength to admire the beauty of the packhouse.

Why'd he come for me when he already had his mate? Why'd he bring me here?

We reached a room, and he paused as he pushed the door open, revealing the beautifully decorated room. At least it was bigger and better than my room back in the Wyrmshade Pack.

"This is your room. You should get some rest." He patted my shoulder gently, a soft smile flashed through his face. "I will send some clothes to you soon. Call me if you need anything."

As he turned to leave, I called him. 'Alpha.'

He paused, looking back at me.

I bit my lip so hard that it almost bled. Suddenly, I forgot what I wanted to say to him, so I just muttered 'Thank you', and he nodded before leaving.

He paused as he stepped out of the room. Sophie stood in front of him, hands crossed in front of her.

"Can we talk now?"
