'You keep saying 'my creator' like it's supposed to mean something' I asked 'So… what is he? Some kind of god?'
Her answer came without hesitation. "Yes. My creator is, for lack of a better human term, a god. Specifically, the God of Entertainment."
I blinked. 'The… God of Entertainment? That's a thing?'
"In a sense that you can understand — yes. He exists beyond your previous reality and this one. His influence covers all forms of entertainment, fiction, and narrative. He shapes worlds for his own amusement and to study the responses of the souls he places within them."
I rubbed my forehead. 'So what, he made this world for… ratings? A celestial TV show?'
"Close. He was bored. According to his own words, he desired a 'fresh twist' on familiar fictional worlds — a setting where characters from entirely separate stories coexist, stripped of superhuman powers, but retaining their skills, ambitions, and flaws. It is designed to create unpredictable, organic drama."
'So basically, I'm in a god's sandbox because he wanted a new season of his favorite shows?'
"Correct. You are here as part of that fresh twist. Your actions, successes, and failures will influence the direction of this world's events."
I let out a low laugh, somewhere between disbelief and exasperation. 'Great. I'm living in the passion project of an omnipotent binge-watcher.'
"That is… not inaccurate."
She didn't pause.
"There are advantages for you. You have been given a second chance, not as a continuation of your old life, but as a completely new existence. You also have the Magic System, a tool much like the ones you've read about in your novels, designed to help you grow, adapt, and thrive in this world."
I stayed silent, letting her words sink in.
"And in the end," she continued, her tone steady but carrying an almost ceremonial weight, "no matter how you live and whatever decisions you make in this second life, when it ends, my creator will grant you divinity and your own realm to rule as a god. It is the reward for participating in his experiment."
'A god. My own realm. That sounded like the ultimate fantasy, but more than that… This is a do-over'
My old life flashed through in my head like a bitter slideshow, the mediocrity, the missed chances.
Average grades and even as a kid, I'd been more interested in watching movies and binging series than in anything productive.
I remembered the dream of being a lawyer, how I'd fought tooth and nail to get there, only to watch it all crumble after that one case. The other side had played dirty, pulled strings, and I lost. My reputation never recovered. My career was over.
My parents were already gone by then. The girlfriend I'd thought would stick by me didn't last more than a few months after my fall.
And just like that, my life spiraled.
Thirty-two years old. Alone, broke and sitting in a tiny apartment that smelled like old takeout and then, I remembered the crushing pain in my chest, the world going black.
A heart attack.
Now, here I was. In a new body. A prodigy, with opportunities I could only dream of before and if I played my cards right, I can live this life not just as a success, but to fulfill all my dreams.
A slow smile pulled at my lips. 'Alright… I think I can live with this and in fact, I'm going to enjoy it to the max.'
"That's the spirit," she replied warmly — or as warmly as a voice with a faint robotic hum could manage. "And I will help you to the fullest of my ability. Your goals are now my mission parameters."
'Thanks' I told her sincerely.
"You're welcome."
For the first time since waking up here, the confusion didn't feel overwhelming. It felt… exciting.
Alright, I thought, leaning forward slightly and took a sip of his drink and continued.
'First agenda: names.'
"Names?" she asked, curious.
'Yeah. I can't keep calling you 'System' like some cheap knockoff app. And you're gonna call me Liam from now on.'
"Acknowledged. From this moment, I'll call you Liam."
There was something satisfying about hearing it — like I was stamping my claim on this new life.
'Now' I continued 'You need a name too. Something that doesn't sound like an operating manual.'
"I do not require a name," she replied matter-of-factly.
'Too bad. You're getting one.'
"Very well… what do you suggest?"
I leaned back, thinking. 'Hm… Jarvis is taken. Friday… nah, too on the nose. How about… Eve?'
"Eve?"
'Yeah. Short, simple. Easy to say in my head without making it sound like I'm ordering coffee. Plus, you're the first voice I've heard in this new life — feels fitting.'
"…Eve," she repeated, almost like she was trying the name on. "It is… acceptable."
'Acceptable?' I smirked. 'You sound like a teacher grading homework.'
"Would you prefer me to gush with gratitude over the random name you assigned me?" she shot back with the faintest trace of playful sarcasm in her otherwise precise tone.
I chuckled under my breath. 'Nah. Eve it is.'
"Then it's decided. Liam and Eve — partners in this world."
'Sounds good to me.'
Alright, Eve, I thought, let's lay all the cards on the table. Explain everything about this system — all of it.
"Understood. We'll begin with your current statistics," Eve's voice flowed through my head, calm and precise.
A transparent blue panel slid into view in front of me, hovering like a hologram only I could see.
[STATS]
Strength – 20 (Average Adult: 15)
Intelligence – 28 (Average human: 20)
Agility – 21 (Average Adult: 15)
"Your stats represent your physical and mental attributes. Strength measures raw power and endurance. Intelligence covers problem-solving ability, learning speed, and memory. Agility affects reflexes, speed, and coordination. As you can see, your intelligence, strength and agility are notably above than average adult humans"
'Great. So I have a good brain and body. Next'
"It can be further improved," Eve replied smoothly. "Next, your available features."
The panel shifted to reveal three glowing tabs: Magic Bank, Magic Phone, and Contract & Potions Shop.
"The Magic Bank operates like a normal financial institution, but is completely untraceable. You can deposit physical cash, withdraw it at will, transfer to real-world bank accounts, or convert it into System Points at a rate of 100 U.S. dollars per point. There is also a savings option — funds locked for a set duration will yield interest upon maturity."
I raised an eyebrow. 'So basically… money laundering, but magic?'
"If you wish to phrase it in such crude terms — yes," she replied.
The tab shifted again.
"The Magic Phone is a fully functional, untraceable communications device. You can make calls or send messages to any real-world phone number without fear of interception. It cannot be hacked, tracked, or recorded."
'Handy.'
"Finally — the Contract & Potions Shop. Using System Points, you can purchase magical potions or establish magical contracts.
"The Contract function," Eve began, "is one of the most versatile features of your system. Think of it as a magically binding agreement tool. You input the terms of the deal, whether it's a business arrangement, a non-disclosure agreement, a loan repayment schedule, or even a personal promise and once the other party agrees and signs, they cannot break it without severe consequences. The terms are enforced by the system itself."
I raised an eyebrow. "Severe consequences as in…?"
"The penalty depends on what you set when drafting the contract – monetary loss, physical pain, inability to speak about certain details, even loss of abilities or assets. The stronger or more complex the contract, the higher the cost to you in Shop Points."
I leaned back, intrigued. "So I could make a deal with someone, and they'd be forced to keep it?"
"Correct, but the system will calculate the cost based on complexity, enforcement power, and the stakes involved. A basic non-disclosure agreement for a small matter might cost around 500 points. A high-stakes corporate merger binding for decades could cost millions."
She pulled up a sample pricing table on my HUD:
Example Contract Pricing
Simple Agreement (low stakes, short term) → 250–500 points
Business Deal / Service Agreement (moderate stakes, → 500–10,000 points
High-Stakes Binding Contract (corporate mergers, massive assets, long term) → 10,000–10,000,000 points
Absolute Enforcement (cannot be broken without lethal or crippling penalty) → above 10,000,000 points
"You can also make multi-party contracts. Everyone involved must willingly sign for it to activate. You have to make sure there are no loopholes, no ambiguous wording — everything is crystal clear, but don't worry, I'll help you"
I gave a slow nod. "So basically… this is the most ironclad agreement maker in the world."
"Exactly," she confirmed. "In a world full of powerful companies, politicians, and morally questionable individuals… it could be one of your deadliest weapons."
"Next is Potions Shop, potions range from low-level stat boosts and healing, to rare enhancements such as the Super Human Potion. Prices vary — low level potions are at 1,000 points, mid-level at 100,000, high-level at 1,000,000 points, and Special items at 10,000,000 points."
I scanned the list she brought up — strength potions, healing potions, stamina boosts, even something called a Basic Byakugan Potion.
"The Shop is your primary tool for growth. Combined with your intelligence and the unique advantages, you have the potential to reach heights far beyond your previous life," Eve concluded.
I sat back, processing. 'So… I've basically got an untraceable Swiss bank account, a burner phone that can't be tapped, and a black-market pharmacy from a fantasy novel — all in my head.'
"A somewhat crude description, but yes," Eve said with the faintest note of amusement.
