Chapter 15 - Guardianship and Wicked Suprise

Tyler's POV:

I carried the suitcase to the station waiting for Elijah to come pick me up. I would use my motorcycle to go to his house but with the suitcase, that would be impossible.

Nearly an hour passed until the door opened. A tall man in a suit walked through the door. A man with hair gelled back and his green eyes nearly curved into a smile.

"Son. You look different."

With the suitcase in my hand, I looked at the man with faint curiosity. "You too, you look sharper."

The man laughed, not in a friendly way, but made his sharp edge more friendly.

"Thanks. I've been a businessman for a long time so I've been going to the gym to use my looks to my advantage."

I revealed a smile when his honesty felt genuine rather than a fake platitude and the man looked at my suitcase, "Is that all you're bringing?"

"Yeah, it's not much. But that's all I got."

The man nodded his head and a woman with red hair appeared in a police uniform. It was the woman who gave me her card from before.

Her name is Scarlet.

Her eyes rolled over him like she was examining him like a criminal, "Elijah, it's nice to meet you. Please come with me, so you can come back to fill out some papers in the back for his guardianship."

The man nodded and we followed her into the office. The man walked with his hands in his pockets, the ground clicked with his shiny black shoes.

Scarlet led us to the room, and we took a seat at the table. The room was chillingly cold and indifferent; there were no feelings to it. No comfort in the room. She glanced toward us with her hands crossed together like a cop does to interrogate a criminal and she asked, "Why do you want to take him in? You never cared about him before."

Elijah calmly replied like he wasn't insulted on the spot, "The truth is that I've always considered him my son. I watched him grow up when he was still a boy. I know it's a lot to ask but I'm willing to take him with me and give him everything he needs as a father."

She stares at him quietly like staring deeper beneath the waves of the murky waters. Then her expressionless lips curved into a faint arc, "Arlight, since you are trying, I'll take that, but I can't force him to accept you as his father. That's his choice to make."

***

I arrived at Elijah's house. Everything was settled after the papers were signed, and my last name remained the same, but I have time to change it when I feel like it. It could happen within a month or a couple of years.

Elijah's house was enormous. Mongous. The house was wide like a mansion, with flickering lights from the windows, and the curtains peeked behind the windows like a storyteller. The house was exactly like a perfect house for a perfect family.

Elijah led me to his home and the inside of the home was nothing like I've seen before. I didn't have a chance to look around since Elijah, with his long legs, walked further down the hall, and I followed him.

He led me to a room, and he turned around facing me, his face nearly cold, but his green eyes warm and soft, "Here are the keys. Just go to the end of the hall and you'll find the door to the left."

I took the keys from his hand and asked, "Where are you going?"

The man looked at his black watch on his wrist, "I have to go to work. I'm a busy man. You won't be alone. Angel will be home soon and he's excited to see you."

"Why? He hasn't seen me in six years? Sure we were close, but that was a long time ago."

I asked with a hint of confusion.

The man turned to me with a wry smile on his face. "...It's hard to explain. Please try not to judge him. He can be…A little obsessive. Once someone makes him curious, it's hard for him to let go. But he's a good boy."

I nodded and watched the man walk away. The man left through the door leaving me alone in the dark hall. I looked around and nearly felt spooked being left all by myself. I grabbed the key in my hand tightly and headed down the hall till a room with a red letter with my name on it appeared.

I pushed the door open and entered the dark quiet room, and turned on the light. I placed the suitcase next to the door and looked around my new room. I furrowed my brow because the room was slightly messy and dark like a gothic setting.

The walls were painted black, the bed was a dark black with a tinge of purple and green. I walked toward the shelf against the wall and pulled out one of the books. One of the books in my hands said, "How to Pretend to Smile."

A crash echoed behind me. I turned around being slightly startled on the spot. A chair by the wall was knocked down to the ground. I frowned when no one was there. "Who's there?"

"Elijah, that's you?"

The room was silent.

I called out again but the room stayed silent.

I turned back to the shelf quickly to put the book back up again, and turned around, but a sharp prick of a knife poked against my chest. I looked up and saw a familiar figure that sent my chest racing.

The fake 'Angel." The one who wasn't supposed to be here.

An arrogant cruel smile curved on his beautiful face. He says in a deep voice, "Hey, asshole. What are you doing in my room?"

I tried to steady my beating heart and lifted my brow with confusion. "Your room?"

He grinned with a sinister smile like a wicked beast, "Yeah, I'm your little brother."
