Chapter 47 - 47

The next morning, Vinny awoke to the soft glow of sunlight filtering through the curtains.

Griffin was already awake, moving quietly around the apartment. His presence was constant, intense, almost suffocating. But there was comfort in it too—a dark kind of safety that Vinny could not ignore.

"You're up," Griffin murmured, his voice low and smooth. "Good. Today we start preparing."

Vinny's stomach twisted. "Preparing for what?"

Griffin's eyes darkened, almost predatory. "To expose West. To ensure he cannot manipulate or threaten you anymore. But we have to be careful. He's cunning. He's patient. And he's already observed us for years."

Vinny nodded slowly, understanding the gravity of the situation. He could feel Griffin's obsession intensifying, protective but dangerous. It made his pulse quicken, both thrilling and terrifying him.

Across town, Shane's team moved with precision.

Maps, photographs, and digital evidence covered every surface. Shane's eyes scanned the screens, connecting patterns that no one else had noticed.

"West's movements are deliberate," Shane said, her voice sharp. "Every appearance, every interaction with Griffin or Vinny, calculated to manipulate outcomes. He's testing them, seeing how far Griffin's obsession will push."

Finn leaned closer, frowning. "Do you think Griffin suspects we're onto him?"

Shane shook her head. "Not yet. But once Vinny begins acting, once he pushes back, Griffin will react. And then we'll see the full extent of his obsession."

Evelyn added, "Vinny needs to understand how carefully he must move. Every choice, every conversation, every action can trigger Griffin or West in unpredictable ways."

Liz nodded. "We've got to be ready to intervene at any moment. Vinny can't do this alone, and neither can we if Griffin or West escalate."

Back in Griffin's apartment, he watched Vinny quietly.

Every subtle movement, every glance, every hesitation—he noticed it all. His obsession burned hotter with each passing second, protective and possessive, but also darker, more consuming.

"Vinny," Griffin said softly, approaching him. "Do you understand the stakes? This isn't just about us. It's about control, survival, and ensuring no one ever touches you the way West has tried or Griffin has feared."

Vinny swallowed hard. "I… I think I understand. But it's… it's a lot."

Griffin's hand brushed Vinny's cheek, a touch both gentle and possessive. "I know. That's why I'm here. To guide you. To protect you. No one will harm you while I'm in this world. No one."

Later that evening, Shane called Vinny.

"Vinny, listen carefully," she said. "We've identified a location where West is likely to appear tonight. It's your chance to gather proof, but you must be careful. Griffin may react if he senses interference. Stay calm. Observe. Document everything."

Vinny's hands trembled as he nodded. "I understand. I'll be careful."

Shane's voice was firm. "Vinny, trust yourself, but also trust us. If anything goes wrong, we'll intervene immediately."

As night fell, Vinny moved through the city streets, alert to every shadow, every movement.

He spotted West first a dark figure at the edge of a park, scanning the area with calculated precision.

Vinny's pulse quickened. He raised his phone, discreetly photographing and recording the man's movements.

West's head snapped toward him, eyes glinting in the streetlights. A slow, deliberate smile spread across his face.

"You've been busy," West said softly, stepping closer. "Careful, Vinny. Every move you make is being watched."

Vinny's hands shook, but he kept recording. "I'm not afraid of you."

West tilted his head, eyes dark. "You should be. Griffin may be obsessed, but I am patient. And patient can be far more dangerous."

Vinny's stomach twisted. He realized the danger of the night. Both Griffin and West were aware of him now, and both were moving pieces on a board he could barely see.

The game had escalated.

And Vinny was at its center.

He knew this was only the beginning.
