Chapter 70 - Chapter 70: Laffey vs. the Hulk

Gunfire echoed through the factory.

Dozens of tranquilizer darts shot toward the Hulk like arrows.

But his skin was harder than steel. Even missiles could barely harm him, so how could weak tranquilizer rounds pierce his body?

As expected, the bullets flattened against his skin and clattered to the floor, unable to scratch him.

The special forces soldiers froze in shock. Their failed assault only enraged the Hulk further. With a furious roar, he charged at them like a beast unleashed.

"Use live rounds, use live rounds!" one soldier screamed in panic.

"Ratatatatatat!" Gunfire roared, bullets pouring out in a storm.

Yet before they could react, the Hulk leapt forward with terrifying speed. His massive arm swept out, and several soldiers flew through the air like ragdolls, slamming into giant drink tanks with bone-crushing force.

The Hulk killed them in an instant. Then he turned, intending to flee.

But the special forces ace, Blonsky, hurled a grenade at him. The explosion rocked the building and only fueled the Hulk's fury.

"Hulk, smash!" he bellowed.

Seizing a massive iron tank, he hurled it into the soldiers, crushing the survivors. In a heartbeat, only Blonsky remained alive.

The Hulk ignored him and smashed through the factory wall. With a single leap, he disappeared into the night.

"Damn it!" General Ross roared inside the command vehicle as the monster slipped from his grasp.

Under the cover of darkness, the Hulk raced through the forests outside Porto. His leaps carried him faster than helicopters could track.

But not far above him, a strange sight kept pace: a dazzling nine-colored deer gliding across the sky.

On its back sat a petite girl in white stockings, sipping from a bottle of Laffey wine. Laffey had finally arrived.

Her plan was simple. She would open a magic gate and quietly bring Banner back to New York before he transformed.

But she had been too late. Ross's men forced Banner into becoming the Hulk.

According to her commander's intel, once he transformed, his strength reached at least legendary tier, and the angrier he became, the stronger he grew, with no clear limit.

He was, without doubt, the strongest native human she had seen on Earth.

As she pondered how to capture him, the Hulk suddenly stopped running.

"Why did he stop?" Laffey tilted her head, her sleepy eyes finally curious.

Before she could figure it out, a massive boulder hurtled toward her with devastating force.

"Well, well, he noticed me. Interesting." Laffey took a long sip of wine, then smiled. Instead of fear, excitement flickered in her eyes. She had been itching for a fight.

Her forehead cannon flashed, and a beam blasted the boulder into dust.

But the Hulk didn't stop. Dozens more rocks flew at her in a deadly barrage.

"Too weak," Laffey muttered lazily.

Her ship rigging cannons opened fire, shredding every stone to ash in midair.

The Hulk realized stones alone were useless. In the haze of smoke, he suddenly leapt high and landed in front of Laffey in a single bound.

"Anyone chasing Hulk, die!" he growled, throwing a massive punch straight at her.

The sheer force of his leap made his strike devastating, combining his monstrous strength with explosive momentum.

For once, Laffey's eyes sharpened. She clenched her tiny fist and struck back.

The air roared as their fists collided. Flames sparked from the pressure, and the forest shook with a thunderous boom.

A shockwave blasted outward, flattening trees across miles of forest.

The Hulk's eyes widened in disbelief. This small girl was stronger than him.

His body rocketed back like a cannonball, crashing into the earth. The impact carved a crater half a kilometer wide. Water from nearby rivers flooded in, forming a new lake.

Laffey landed lightly on the water's surface, her boots shifting to aquatic form. She giggled softly, sipping from her bottle.

"Playing on the water, huh? It's been a while. Not bad at all."

Suddenly, bubbles burst from the lake. The Hulk erupted from below, fist surging upward to smash her jaw.

But Laffey only smirked coldly.

"I held back, but you still want to kill me? Fine, you made me angry. On land you couldn't win, and now you think you can beat me in the water? Foolish."

With one hand, she caught his massive fist mid-swing.

"Hulk… no… way…" the monster stammered in disbelief.

"You're strong, the strongest native I've met here. But compared to me, you're still lacking."

Her slender leg whipped out, striking the Hulk's head with brutal force.

He flew across the water like a ragdoll, tearing through trees and slamming into a giant boulder before collapsing.

But Laffey didn't stop. Cannons on her rigging fired in a web of explosive light, blanketing the Hulk's landing zone. The earth shook under the barrage, flames lighting up half the sky.

Ross's forces immediately noticed the chaos.

"What the hell was that?" Ross shouted, eyes wide.

"General, our infrared picked up massive energy spikes. Two humanoid figures—one is likely the Hulk, but the other is unknown!"

"I don't care who it is. Capture Banner today, no matter what!"

"Yes, sir!"

Tanks, helicopters, and fighter jets mobilized at once, rumbling toward the blast site.

When the dust finally cleared, the once-dense forest had become a wasteland.

In the center lay a man in tattered gray shorts, unconscious and human once more. Banner.

Even the mighty Hulk had been beaten back into his frail form.

Laffey sighed. "I just wanted to take you back peacefully, but you had to fight me. Now look at you."

She crouched down, collecting a vial of his blood. Her commander would want it.

But before she could leave, the roar of engines filled the air. Tanks and jets surrounded the area, spotlights locking onto her.

"Attention! You're surrounded! Drop your weapon and surrender immediately! Resist, and you'll be executed!"

Laffey blinked at the sudden voices. Then her sleepy eyes hardened into ice.
