Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: Laffey Drinks Lafite

Naturally, the faith power gained from a sacrificial ceremony was on a completely different scale.

The solemn, sacred atmosphere…

The tension and anticipation of knowing the god himself might be watching at any moment…

The mysterious blessing of some unseen divine law…

All of it multiplied the faith gathered several times over—sometimes more than tenfold.

However, such ceremonies could only be held once every three months. Any more than that, and the mental strain on the believers would become unbearable, potentially driving them to madness.

For ordinary mortals, the presence of a priest was mandatory, and at least fifty participants were required. With fewer than that, the ritual could not proceed—the mental pressure would be too great. The more participants, the grander and more majestic the ceremony… and the more faith power it generated.

Jason Kin did a quick calculation.

Previously, he could only collect about sixty faith points per day.

Now, with the addition of fifty-six fanatics, one hundred fifty-three shallow believers, thirty-six true believers, and five devout believers, his gains had skyrocketed.

The reason for the sudden influx was simple: moments ago, Jason Kin had revealed his divine power before the masses.

The towering phantom of the Life Tree… and beneath it, the Lord of Life himself, radiating holy light—Jason Kin.

The shock and awe it inspired were overwhelming. Even the surrounding onlookers, ordinary citizens at best, had been swept up in the moment, their half-skeptical faith shifting toward genuine belief.

Since most had yet to receive Jason Kin's blessing, they remained shallow or true believers. Only a handful had leapt straight to devout faith after witnessing his power. Still, it was an unexpected windfall.

With this new follower count—plus Laffey as his Apostle, who alone contributed one hundred faith points daily—Jason Kin's total daily income now stood at eight hundred faith points.

A month? Twenty-four thousand points.

A year? Two hundred eighty-eight thousand points.

"…And it takes a million faith points to condense a single wisp of divine power."

"Even without eating or drinking, that's four years for just one wisp!"

"Damn it!"

Jason Kin nearly collapsed at the thought. The time requirement was absurd.

Fortunately, as a demigod with an effectively infinite lifespan, time was the one resource he had in abundance. He could wait.

But that purple potato couldn't.

The madman obsessed with "population control" would arrive on Earth in just a few years. At his current strength, Jason Kin stood no chance against Thanos wielding the Infinity Gauntlet.

Which meant he needed power. Fast.

And for that, he needed followers—the more, the better.

Retracting his divine manifestation, Jason Kin turned to the priest Vog and delivered his oracle:

"At the next sacrificial ceremony… I expect to see more believers."

With that, the phantom of the Life Tree faded away.

Inside the Domain of Life

Jason Kin slowly opened his eyes.

Beside him, Laffey was curled up, softly snoring. White streams of sacred life energy cascaded from the Life Tree above, bathing her in its glow—nourishing her body, making her appear even more holy… and undeniably adorable.

The Life Tree was the very foundation of his divine realm.

His domain spanned 11,000 square kilometers—sixty percent land, forty percent water. Thanks to his divine authority of Life Awakening, the realm teemed with vitality from the start: endless blue seas, vast emerald forests.

No flesh-and-blood creatures lived here yet, but the trees, grass, and flowers thrived. Compared to the outside world, it was a celestial paradise.

Anyone who entered would see their lifespan multiplied several times over—such was the purity of the life force here. No other energy could compare.

Gently brushing his fingers through Laffey's soft white hair, Jason Kin watched her stir awake.

"Mm… Master… wanna nap too?" she mumbled lazily.

Jason Kin shook his head.

"I have to head out. Will you come with me, or stay here?"

"Laffey's used to being alone… but… with Master… it feels better… Laffey wants to go… mmm… zzz…"

"…Then let's go together."

Nodding, Jason Kin took her hand, stepping out of the divine realm.

New York City — Roland Family Estate

A spatial rift opened, and Jason Kin led Laffey through.

In this Marvel world, he had been reborn as Roland Phils, heir to the Roland family—owners of one of the largest shipyards on the planet.

"This is where Master lives? It's so big… and so fancy!"

Laffey's eyes widened at the sight of the sprawling, palatial European-style residence.

Then her gaze landed on a bottle of 1982 Château Lafite resting on the table. Her eyes lit up.

In a flash, she dashed over, grabbed the bottle, and began drinking straight from it.

Laffey drinks Lafite.

I drink… myself.

P.S. Lafite is one of the five great wine-producing châteaux of Bordeaux. I used Jason Kin for the MC's real name instead of the Chinese one. Roland Phils is his mortal identity after transmigrating into the Marvel Universe.
