Chapter 3 - Reincarnation?

While struggling with the thoughts running through his mind, memories from the past came to Steven. Moments when fans shouted "You're our legend!" as he held up football trophies passed through his mind like film frames. "I was happy when our fans called me 'Our Legend'," he thought. "But along with that happiness, there were terrible feelings inside me."

The source of these feelings was the burning question that gnawed at his mind: "Can a football player who never won a trophy be a 'Legend'?" He searched for the answer to this question for years. He searched for the answer in every match, when attacking the opponent's goal, and when trying to break through the defense line. "That's why I wanted to win at least one trophy," his inner voice continued. "But no matter how hard I worked, the result never changed. And I always lost in the final."

Another scene appeared in his mind. In the middle of a match, he and his best friend Grant were laughing together. A smile formed on Steven's face when he remembered that moment. "Still, I don't know if I regret it. Football had always seemed fun to me. The fun part was playing football with Grant."

However, another scene that appeared in his mind wiped the smile off his face. The moment the referee showed him a red card... When Steven remembered that moment, he spoke to himself: "When I think about the moments I got a red card, I realize how wrong I was. All I should have done was try to enjoy football."

Now, he was looking for an ending in his mind. That ending was before yesterday's traffic accident. Steven tried to touch a football with his hands. "So, can I ask for one more chance?" he thought. "My goal won't be to win trophies. My goal will always be to try to enjoy my life and football."

He touched the football with his hands. "Please... just one more chance..." he said to himself.

Suddenly, the ball he touched began to glow. Steven didn't understand what was happening. His eyes were dazzled. The darkness slowly began to lighten. "What's happening?" he asked himself.

As the surroundings continued to brighten with brilliant lights, a voice was heard. The voice belonged to a woman. "He's waking up. He's finally waking up."

Steven slowly opened his eyes. When he opened his eyes, he saw a white ceiling. The ceiling was the hospital ceiling. He remembered this hospital as the one he came to after the accident.

While Steven was looking at the ceiling, a girl suddenly hugged him and started to cry. "Stupid brother! He's back!" she was shouting.

Steven looked at the girl's hair with a blank expression. She had long, blond hair. "I don't understand," he thought. "Who is this girl?"

He lifted his head and looked in front of him. In front of him was a doctor and a crying woman next to him. Steven spoke to himself again: "Did I manage to survive the accident? But who are these people?"

Steven looked at the people in front of him and asked hesitantly: "Who are you?"

At Steven's question, the woman next to the doctor looked at him in surprise.

Steven put his hand to his throat and said: "Since when is my voice so high-pitched?"

He took his hand away from his throat and looked at his hand. "And since when are my hands this small?" he thought.

The girl who had hugged him pulled back, still crying, and said: "Stupid! I'm your sister, Grace."

Steven replied in shock: "What!"

Immediately after, the doctor spoke: "I'm sorry, but I had said that something like this might have happened. Unfortunately, he has amnesia. But he will get better with time."

The woman next to him couldn't take it anymore and hugged Steven. Crying, she said: "I don't care that he has amnesia. What matters is that my son has woken up."

While the woman who hugged him was crying, Steven looked at the doctor and said: "Please tell me what happened here."

The doctor replied calmly: "You were in a car accident-"

Steven interrupted him and said: "I remember that."

Steven pointed to the woman who was hugging him with his hands and said: "But I don't remember these people."

The doctor replied thoughtfully: "Strange. You remember the accident, but you don't remember your family?"

Steven laughed and said: "I didn't have a family. What are you talking about?"

His sister Grace was shocked when she heard this and dropped to the floor. Crying, she said: "I can't believe it! He really forgot us."

The doctor spoke calmly: "You might be surprised by what I'm about to say, but calm down. You've been in a coma for two years."

Steven looked at the doctor with a blank expression. He put his hand to his ear and held his ear toward the doctor. "I think I heard wrong. Could you say that again?"

As Steven turned his head, a calendar on the wall caught his attention. The calendar showed the year 2025. Steven turned his head to the doctor and said: "You should also fix that calendar over there. People might get the wrong idea."

The doctor looked at the calendar. "The calendar is correct. It's the year 2025," he said.

Steven opened and closed his eyes. "Noooooooo?" he shouted.

Just then, a nurse entered the room. She had a mirror in her hand. The nurse held the mirror out to the doctor. The doctor approached Steven with the mirror in his hand. Holding the mirror out to Steven, he said: "Maybe you'll remember something when you see your own face."

Steven saw his own reflection in the mirror. He had short, blond hair and blue eyes. "Is this... me?" he thought.

His sister Grace, who had collected herself a little, spoke: "I guess you don't remember your own name either. Your name is Paul Worm."

Steven looked at Grace in surprise and said: "Paul Worm?"
