The earthquake had completely toppled the Wyvern Fortress, the once formidable structure was shattered and sunk into a massive crack in the earth.
Saarnax stared in bewilderment for a moment, Icarus and Ingel looked from each other to him, and he didn't move for a while.
Alazea coughed, the two Wyverns that had been swallowed with Ingel had been healed by her and she was evidently trying to let them know.
Icarus turned back to Saarnax "Hey, so uhh-"
A bolt of lightning crashed down front the sky with earth shattering force, it directly hit Saarnax and his black hair spiked up, piece of rock rose into the air around him and he crackled with electricity.
The shockwave propelled Icarus back, as he was the closest to Saarnax at this moment.
Saarnax seethed "you! White Dragon! I will have your head!"
He disappeared and a massive explosion of dust and rubble as well as a sonic boom sounded as he reappeared in front of Alazea.
Icarus was shocked, despite his improved reaction time he could not perceive whatever movement Saarnax had just performed.
A moment later, Ingel appeared in front of Saarnax.
"Azlat!"
His sword had responded already and it blazed to life, clashing with Saarnax' spear of lightning.
The shockwave blew Alazea and the other Wyverns away, but Ingel and Saarnax stood locked together, their strength cancelling out.
Ingel grimaced with effort thinking back to how Abe wanted them to make this guy their ally 'Damn it Abe! I knew we couldn't trust this guy!'
Icarus was already moving, by merging and shaping two temperatures he had figured he could further improve his already devasting new magic, he formed the strange combination of opposites into a spear shape, and fired it at Saarnax.
Saarnax was forced to disengage Ingel to block the incoming attack.
Ingel roared and prepared to swing at the area Saarnax wasn't guarding.
However the magic spear hit Saarnax' spear, and sent him flying backwards with enormous force.
It travelled for a moment, Icarus watched in surprise as it was far more effective then the normal version of the spell.
Before he could wonder why this was however, the spear exploded, a massive blast erupted, the shockwave started over one hundred meters away but still knocked him off his feet.
First a massive explosion of fire rose into the sky, as fast as erupted, it froze over, forming an almost tree-shaped tower of ice, rising hundreds of feet into the air.
Icarus had simply ditched using the sphere to propel the spear, and combiner the propulsion and spear into one technique, although now it was less of a spear and more of a missle.
The ground tremored, a huge gout of lightning roared down from the sky, hundreds of bolts, each tearing the ice tree apart bit by bit, until finally the frozen trunk gave way and broke apart.
The shards of ice rained down from the sky, at the center of it all stood Saarnax, his scales were bloody, some torn off, he had large wounds all over his body and seemed to be practically on deaths door although by his body language you would think he was fine.
He gritted his teeth but his expression remained calm as he focused on the source of his discontent.
"Two dragons, one white and one red, yet the Human, he is the real threat?"
Saarnax had been told he was inferior to dragons since he was a child, he has only just felt comfortable that he would be able to fight them in around ten years from now.
Humans were so far beneath him he barely knew they existed.
Mere Ants who lived far below on the ground which he stepped on, he had left the continent once, a party of adventures had been foolish enough to challenge him, he had crushed them, but they were so weak he didn't even bother killing them, just beat them within an inch of their life and left them for the dogs.
Yet one of these ants had damaged him to this extent, with a single attack.
He envied this power, he desperately wanted to know how such a lesser being had reached such heights, however another thought rang out in his mind almost as loud.
A basic thought, the most simple and animalistic response to danger.
Fight or flight.
Saarnax blasted forward towards Icarus with all the strength he could muster, he was far slower then before, but he knew he could reach this boy.
Icarus was startled, he could see Saarnax' movement's now, he had just enough time to form a few layers of defensive magic.
The explosion from before had knocked back Ingel, who was already exhausted and was now beginning to particularly feel it.
Alazea was also occupied as the Wyverns she had healed were now attacking her, blinded by their loyalty to their king.
Saarnax didn't even register he was holding the spear, he just punch at the defensive magic, Icarus had to form new layers as the old ones were broken through, there was no time for him to form an offensive spell and he could feel the mana draining from the persistent use of defensive magic.
He grimaced, as he desperately tried to think of options as he expended mana bit by bit.
Saarnax roared and swung faster, Icarus would have to intake external mana soon just to survive.
Reaching a final breaking point Icarus opened his eyes and shouted "Wyvern King! Your attacks will never break through my magic! Can't you see! You can either give up and die, or give up and I will take you with me on my Journey, teaching you how to get this power yourself! Then you will be able to stand against the dragons you so despise!"
Saarnax roared in response 'ha! This stupid kid, thinks I'm gonna fall for his bluff? He's hemorrhaging mana right now, once he runs out, I will, kill him.'
He continued punching and Icarus was down to his last bit of internal mana grimaced.
There was one more thing he could do.
With his last bit of mana, he released his defensive spells, at the same time, he sucked in all available external mana in the vicinity, even siphoning some extra off from the corpse of the behemoth.
Saarnax grinned wildly "Finally ran dry huh?! IT'S OVER!"
He himself was almost completely exhausted, but put all his remaining strength into one last massive punch.
Icarus braced as hard as he could, on top of that he hid a single layer of defensive magics right on top of cheek, it wouldn't be noticeable to the naked eye.
With the rest of his absorbed mana he raised the fallen ice chunks that had fallen from the massive frozen explosion.
Saarnax' fist connected directly on Icarus face, he felt his brain rattle in his skull and his legs went wobbly for a second, the defensive magic had only slightly cushioned the punch, but he had no doubt it would have put him unconscious without it.
Saarnax stood in shock, staring at Icarus who was bleeding from his nose, but still staring at him with those strangely colored eyes.
Saarnax grimaced and raised his hand, continuing on through sheer willpower.
Icarus raised his staff.
A bone chilling, gut reaching spike seemed to pierce Saarnax.
'why do I feel like I'm the one in danger? One more hit and this kid will die, righ-'
He instinctually shot backwards, he has not done this on purpose, his body had acted entirely on its own.
'what is this?..'
Out of the corner of his eye he had seeb something reflect a ray of sunlight.
Now he could see it clearly.
Like the countless stars in the night sky, all around him were shards of ice, each one aimed at him.
He swallowed, fear welled up inside of him for the first time.
'this boy, after all that, even when he was talking and defending, he found a way to get an attack through, this is...'
'Absolute Defeat.'
He stared at Icarus who looked at him with ice in his eyes.
His last strength faultered.
He collapsed, his exhaustion and wounds had overcome him.
"It is.. your victory... Please... Show me the way to this power of yours..."
The human had completely defeated him in every aspect of the battle.
His eyes closed as he crumpled and Icarus stared for a moment.
He realized his breathing had completely stopped.
He panicked and gasped, the countless I've shards he had risen into the sky fell back to earth once again.
He collapsed to his hands and knees, blood leaked from his eyes and ears as he panted desperately for air.
his mana was completely gone, he could not have completed the attack had he wanted to.
However, the act had been enough.
Not coherent enough to feel satisfied, he simply collapsed, and fell unconscious, across from the Wyvern King.
