Chapter 7 - Part 7 of Dragon Knight ARC VI The Ruler of Dark Sea

Chapter 1: Something is wrong

The evening was calm.

Almost too calm.

Strom, Wraith, and Sam sat together near the coastline, enjoying one of those rare moments when nothing was trying to kill them.

Strom held a golden feather between his fingers, carefully turning it as he told the story of everything that had happened during the volcano incident.

Strom: "And that's how I saved her life... and she still tried to end mine."

Wraith: "That's why I don't like heat. Fire means chaos. Volcanoes? Never again."

Strom: "You don't like fire? I think that's why you cook so terribly."

Wraith: "What? I still cook better than you! It's a little burned, but I'm learning."

Strom: "A little burned? I'd say there's only a little that's good... and the rest is completely burned."

Wraith: "Then tell your dragon mom to cook for you."

Strom: "Speaking of moms..."

He didn't even finish his sentence, but Sam's face instantly turned red.

Sam: "Oh, come on! We're still on that?!"

Strom (grinning): "I haven't even said anything. You're just taking it personally."

Wraith: "Humans and... their family drama."

The three laughed.

For a brief moment, everything felt peaceful.

Then...

SNAP!

The sound of breaking wood echoed from somewhere in the distance.

Their laughter stopped.

Strom immediately turned toward the sound.

A man was running toward them.

His clothes were soaked, face was pale with terror.

His steps were unsteady, and his breathing was so heavy that he could barely keep himself upright.

He looked like someone who had just escaped death...

Or something even worse.

The fisherman stumbled toward them before nearly collapsing.

Fisherman (panting): "St... Strom... You... Y..."

He tried to speak, but his lungs refused to cooperate, the fear in his eyes has stolen his voice.

Sam: "Just tell us, Unc!"

Wraith: "Shh!"

Strom quickly stepped forward and helped the fisherman sit down.

Strom: "Easy. Take a breath first."

The man desperately inhaled several times.

Slowly, his breathing began to settle.

Then he finally looked at them.

Fisherman: "There's... something inside the ocean."

Strom: "What?"

Fisherman: "Something very big."

Strom: "Big? how big?"

The fisherman shook his head.

Fisherman: "I... I don't know. I couldn't see it properly. I just saw something moving beneath the water."

He swallowed hard.

Fisherman: "It was so big... the shadow beneath my boat covered everything."

Sam's expression changed when the fisherman continued.

Fisherman: "The waves stopped moving."

His hands began trembling again.

Fisherman: "My boat was moving normally, then suddenly... nothing."

He looked toward the darkening ocean.

Fisherman: "Something was beneath us."

Wraith (eyes narrowed): "Did you see anything else?"

The fisherman hesitated for once as he don't want to remember then he finally told them.

Fisherman: "Only for a moment."

Strom: "What?"

Fisherman: "Its shape... was like a serpent."

Wraith froze, her eyes widened. he color slowly drained from her face.

Strom noticed immediately.

Strom: "Wraith?"

Wraith (terrified): "I think... we should stay away from that thing."

Strom: "You know what it is?"

Wraith (shook her head): "Not exactly."

Sam: "But you know enough to be scared."

Wraith (low): "Whatever it is... we shouldn't be anywhere near it."

Strom looked toward the coastline.

The fisherman wasn't the only person near the water.

Several villagers were still moving around the docks. Boats were being prepared. Children were playing near the beach.

Strom (commanding): "First things first. Get everyone away from the coast."

Sam: "You think it's really that dangerous?"

Strom: "Prevention is better than cure."

The three immediately got to work.

They warned the fishermen, moved villagers away from the beach.

They told everyone to stay away from the docks and avoid the coastal area until they knew what was happening.

Some people complained...

Others asked questions...

But eventually, everyone moved inland, safe.

The sun slowly disappeared beneath the horizon. Evening became night.

Darkness spread across the ocean.

Strom: "Now we can check what's scaring everyone."

Wraith (uneasy): "Please... can't we just stay here and let it go away by itself?"

Sam: "So you do know what that thing is, don't you?"

Wraith: "I never said that."

Strom: "Great. Now tell us."

Wraith sighed.

She clearly doesn't want to talk about it.

The truth was...

She didn't know everything either.

But... she knew enough. She answered looking towards the ocean.

Wraith: "It's a long story... My great-great-grandfather fought something like this."

Sam: "Wait... your great-great-grandfather?"

Wraith: "Yes."

Sam: "How old is this thing?"

Wraith: "I don't know."

She paused...

Wraith: "All I know comes from stories passed down through my family."

Her voice became quieter.

Wraith: "They said it ruled these waters long before humans knew what lived beneath them."

Strom: "And your great-great-grandfather fought it?"

Wraith: "He survived it."

Strom: "He won?"

Wraith (shook her head): "No."

She looked back at him.

Wraith: "He survived."

That wiped the smile from Strom's face.

Wraith: "That's why my bloodline never claimed the ocean. Those waters belonged to something else long before we ever arrived."

Sam: "Something else?"

Wraith (nodded): "They say the clouds themselves never cover its territory."

Strom: "What does that even mean?"

Wraith: "I don't know."

She looked uncomfortable.

Wraith: "There are stories about storms forming around those waters. Ships disappearing without a trace. Entire crews vanishing overnight."

Her fingers tightened around her dagger.

Wraith: "But the worst part... It remembers faces."

Sam: "What?"

Wraith: "If it sees you... it remembers you. It feeds on energy around him..."

Strom: "Now that made me even more curious!"

Wraith (uneasy): "Strom! Please we can't defeat Gorgon..."

Silence filled the air for a moment... But fear didn't appear on their faces.

Strom: "Hmm. Nice name."

Wraith: "Strom!"

Strom: "What?"

Wraith: "This isn't the time to compliment the name of whatever is hiding under the ocean!"

Sam and Strom didn't say anything but their eyes said everything, they are definitely going.

Wraith: "Guys, please. I don't want to see that thing."

Strom: "Why?"

She looked genuinely afraid now.

Wraith: "Because if those stories are true, Gorgon is terrifying... He is just.. just."

She can't even complete her sentence properly, because she don't know real things and scared also... She just wanted peace.

Sam: "Well... If you don't want to fight him, that's fine."

Then he looked toward Strom.

Sam: "But we wouldn't mind taking a little look, right, Strom?"

Strom (no hesitation): "Why not?"

Wraith: "Are you two serious?"

Strom and Sam began walking toward the cliff with chill. Wraith stood there for a moment of disbelief.

She looked at the two idiots walking toward the thing her ancestors had spent generations avoiding.

Wraith: "..."

Then she sighed.

Wraith (whispering): "Getting your ass in danger... Wow, Wraith. Brilliant decision."

She followed them...

____

Later all three reached the edge of the cliff.

Below them...

The ocean was completely still.

No waves.

No wind.

Nothing.

Strom (looking down): "That's strange."

Sam: "What?"

Strom: "The water is just... Too quit."

THEN...

Something moved.

A massive shadow passed beneath the surface.

It was so enormous that for several seconds, the entire ocean beneath the cliff seemed to turn black.

Nobody moved.

The shadow continued forward.

Slowly.

Silently.

Then it stopped.

Wraith's breath caught.

Sam: "..."

Strom slowly tightened his grip on his spear.

Strom: "Guys..."

Two enormous red eyes opened beneath the water.

Wraith (whispering): "Please no... Please"

After that the eyes vanished and the dark ocean returned to normal.

But the three of them knew one thing now.

Something had seen them.

And whatever had been sleeping beneath the sea...

was awake now.

Chapter 2: How He Falls

The night fell quickly.

Almost unnaturally.

The moon shone like a silver gem above the dark sand, its pale light reflecting across the silent ocean.

But something was wrong...

There wasn't a single cloud in the sky.

Not one.

The clouds seemed to stop at an invisible boundary surrounding the ocean, leaving a strange, perfectly clear circle above the dark waters.

Just like Wraith had said.

"Even the clouds don't cover his territory."

Strom: "Damn... there really aren't any clouds."

Wraith (uneasy): "Now can we please go back?"

Sam: "I think she's right. We should leave this place."

Strom (looked at him): "What happened to you, Sam?"

Sam didn't answer immediately.

His expression had changed.

Sam: "Something is slowly draining my mana."

Wraith (quietly): "It's him."

Strom looked toward the ocean.

The water remained completely still.

Strom: "Come on... Is there really nothing that can defeat him? Like, seriously?"

Wraith didn't answer but that silence was enough for Sam to notice it immediately.

Sam: "So you were hiding something... weren't you, Wraith?"

Wraith (panicking): "What? Me? No! Why would I?"

Sam: "Don't lie. You know something we don't."

Strom: "Tell us, Wraith."

Wraith lowered her head.

For a moment, she said nothing.

Then she finally raised her eyes toward them.

Wraith: "Yes... I hid something."

She took a deep breath.

Wraith: "Because I don't know who did it... but someone actually defeated Gorgon. Badly!"

Strom: "Badly?"

Wraith: "There are stories that someone once painted these waters crimson with his blood."

Sam's eyes widened hearing that.

Wraith: "And after that... Gorgon disappeared into the deepest darkness of the ocean."

Sam: "So you're saying someone was strong enough to tear that nightmare apart?"

Wraith: "Yes."

Her fingers tightened around her dagger.

Wraith: "But there are no clues about who did it. No stories. No legends. Nothing."

She hesitated.

Wraith: "All I know is that Gorgon carries a scar near his eye."

Strom: "A scar?"

Wraith: "A claw mark that shattered his pride."

Nobody spoke.

For the first time, even Strom had nothing clever to say.

Someone had fought Gorgon.

Someone had hurt him badly enough to leave a permanent scar.

But who?

Who could have been strong enough?

And how old must they have been?

Wraith's eyes slowly moved toward Strom's pendant.

The blue stone was glowing faintly.

Wraith (whispering): "...Could it be her?"

She stared at the pendant for a long moment.

Wraith (thinking): But how old is she?

False Confidence:-

Strom suddenly broke the silence, casually twirled his spear in his hand.

Strom (grinning): "I think I should challenge him to a one-on-one duel."

Wraith immediately turned toward him.

Wraith: "Are you insane?! You have no idea what that creature is!"

Strom: "Relax. It's just a big shadow."

He pointed toward the ocean.

Strom: "Maybe it's not even that big. That's why it's hiding beneath the sea."

Sam: "And what about those red eyes?"

Strom opened his mouth to answer then stopped.

Because For once... He had absolutely nothing to say.

Those eyes were proof that whatever was beneath that ocean wasn't simply big.

It was enormous...

Wraith (uneasy): "I'm leaving."

Strom: "What?"

Wraith: "I can't stay here anymore."

Sam (He turned toward Strom): "Yeah, me too... And you're coming with us."

Strom: "But what about Gorgon?"

Wraith (alarmed): "Shh! Don't say his name so loudly!"

Strom (lowering his voice): "We can't let him claim the entire coastline forever."

Sam: "How about saving your ass first before worrying about the fish?"

Strom: "Fine."

They all agreed.

Leaving was the smartest option here.

Challenging something like Gorgon would be pure stupidity.

Well...

Almost everyone agreed.

Then Strom suddenly picked up a large rock.

Wraith: "Strom no!"

Before either of them could stop him, Strom threw the rock straight into the ocean.

SPLASH!

Strom (shouting toward the water): "Okay! We're leaving!"

He turned around.

Wraith and Sam were staring at him.

Both looked genuinely angry.

Strom: "What?"

Neither answered.

Strom: "I'm just making sure he knows we're leaving."

Wraith: "..."

Sam: "..."

Strom: "Don't you think, it's polite?."

Nobody argued.

They simply turned around and started walking.

Nothing happened.

No waves.

No roar.

Nothing.

Strom slowly relaxed.

Then...

The ocean went still.

Completely still.

The wind disappeared.

The silence became so deep that even their footsteps seemed unnaturally loud.

Sam (stopped): "...Guys?"

A gust of wind suddenly tore through the coastline.

Then another.

The wind grew stronger.

Faster.

Within seconds, it was howling around them like a hurricane.

Something was moving beneath the surface.

A massive shadow. And this time...

It was moving much faster.

Sam: "What is happening?"

Wraith (face pale): "He knows we're here."

The ocean began to rise.

Waves towered over the coastline and the wind stopped.

Everything became silent again.

But this silence felt different.

They could feel it.

Something was watching them.

Not from the shore.

Not from the sky.

But from beneath them.

Sam: "I don't like this."

And somewhere beneath the dark ocean...

Something enormous moved closer.

Chapter 3: When He Rises

A massive splash erupted from the ocean like something had fallen into the water.

CRASH!!!

The sound echoed across the coastline.

Strom, Wraith, and Sam froze.

For several seconds, there was nothing.

Then two enormous red eyes appeared in the darkness.

Clouds slowly gathered above them, spreading across the sky and swallowing the moonlight. A violent thunderstorm suddenly erupted.

BOOM!!!

For one brief moment, lightning illuminated the creature beneath the waves.

Hundreds of razor-sharp teeth, dimming like silver.

Two blood-red eyes.

Dark green scales covering an enormous body.

And around his massive form...

Chains.

Huge chains wrapped around his body, some still hanging from his scales while others were broken and dragging behind him.

Someone had once imprisoned this creature.

But now... He is free.

Rain began pouring down. None of them moved. The only sounds here was the thunderstorms forming and their own breathing echoes.

Gorgon's expression suddenly changed when he had smelled something familiar.

Something he hated.

Royal blood of the... blue demons.

Once Again.

Gorgon (narrowing his eyes): "Again... I hate your bloodline."

Wraith slowly stepped backward. She didn't want to fight. She didn't want to be here. The nightmare she had heard about all her life was standing in front of her.

Wraith (quietly): "Please... just let us go."

Strom swallowed hard. Even Sam looked completely stunned. It was his first time seeing something this big.

Strom: "We don't want to fight you. Just let us go."

Gorgon stared at them.

Then he laughed.

Gorgon: "How is my dinner talking?"

His eyes suddenly locked onto Strom's pendant then the scar near his eye flickered faintly.

Gorgon (curious): "Why does that stone feel familiar?"

His massive tail suddenly moved.

Before Strom could react, it wrapped around him and lifted him into the air. Gorgon brought him closer, inspecting the pendant.

Gorgon: "I don't really remember..."

His eyes narrowed with a genuine smile.

Gorgon: "But who cares?"

He casually threw Strom into the air and opened his massive jaws.

Sam's eyes widened.

Sam: "Strom!"

A barrier instantly formed beneath him. The spell caught Strom and pulled him away from Gorgon's jaws.

Strom landed safely.

For a moment, he remained still. Stunned because he was just a second away from death.

Then he looked at Gorgon.

Something inside him had changed.

Gorgon wasn't an invincible god so, he could be hurt.

Strom: "I'm done with you."

His hand opened and his spear immediately flew into his grip.

Wraith (terrified): "Strom, please don't!"

Sam: "No, please!"

Strom (shouting): "TAKE THIS!"

He hurled the spear with everything he had.

The weapon struck Gorgon directly in the jaw.

The blade pierced through his scales.

Gorgon screamed in agony.

The sound shook the coastline.

His head violently jerked to the side as rage filled his eyes.

Gorgon: "You foolish human!"

His jaws snapped toward him but Strom barely dodged.

Gorgon immediately swung his tail.

BOOM!!!

Sam threw up a barrier.

The impact shattered it almost instantly, but it gave them enough time to escape.

The rain became heavier. Lightning repeatedly illuminated Gorgon's face, and every time Wraith saw it...

She froze in terror.

The creature from her family's stories was no longer beneath the ocean.

He was here.

And he was looking directly at them.

Strom suddenly pulled his spear back.

The weapon flew through the rain and returned to his hand.

Strom launched himself forward and landed directly on Gorgon's face.

STAB!

His spear pierced the serpent's nose.

Strom: "Leave this land and never come back!"

Gorgon: "I don't work for your Dad!"

He violently threw Strom away he flew through the air. And Gorgon opened his massive jaw again.

Strom was heading straight toward the darkness but... Without panicking.

He threw his spear.

The weapon pierced through Gorgon's lower jaw immediately forcing him to close his mouth in agony.

Strom landed safely on land when Sam raised his staff.

A cyclone of mana crystals rained down upon Gorgon.

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

Strom charged forward and drove his spear into Gorgon's neck.

The creature roared.

But she stood scared in the back, stared at them with fear filling her vision.

Wraith (terrified): "I can't..."

Her voice trembled.

Wraith: "I... I can't fight him."

But Strom and Sam were starting to understand something.

They could hurt him.

Strom's physical attacks were cutting through his scales.

Sam's spells were burning him.

But then...

The wounds began to close.

The energy from Sam's magic was being absorbed and healing Gorgon back...

Gorgon (mocking): "Weak."

Strom (staring): "Hmm."

Before Gorgon could react, Strom swung his hand downward.

Three enormous glass blades crashed from above.

SHRUK!!!

The blades tore deep into Gorgon's body. Dark red blood splashed across the ground.

Gorgon screamed and Strom rushed forward.

His spear struck directly into Gorgon's jaw and Sam followed with a massive burst of flame.

The fire burned across Gorgon's face.

The serpent retaliated.

His jaws snapped toward them.

They dodged.

His tail slammed down hard.

They moved again.

Gorgon was enormous, but now that he was away from the ocean, his movements were easier to predict.

And they had discovered something important.

They didn't need to overpower him.

They needed to keep hurting him.

Strom's spear tore through his scales without relying on magical energy.

Sam adjusted his spells, using smaller bursts of magic that still burned without giving Gorgon enough energy to fully recover.

Because Flames and lighting spells use very less amount of mana.

Then Gorgon's tail suddenly swept across the battlefield.

Sam raised a barrier in defence.

But Gorgon wasn't aiming for him.

The tail changed direction and wrapped around Wraith.

Wraith: "What?!"

Gorgon lifted her into the air, eyes locked onto hers.

Gorgon: "Big mistake... challenging me."

Wraith froze.

Gorgon stared at her face when fear flooded her expressions.

Gorgon (cold): "That look...I remember it."

Wraith's body trembled in pain and fear.

Gorgon (narrowing his eyes): "You're weak. Just like every other one."

BOOM!!!

A massive lightning strike hit Gorgon's face and his grip loosened.

At the same moment, Strom's spear sliced through his tail.

Wraith fell but he caught her.

Strom (confident): "We can end him, Wraith."

Strom looked directly into Wraith's eyes, when holding her.

Strom: "Believe me."

For a moment, Wraith said nothing.

Then Sam fired another burst of flame and Strom attacked again.

This time, Wraith looked at Gorgon.

The fear was still there.

But something else had appeared.

Anger...

A small dagger flew through the rain.

THUNK!

It struck Gorgon's scales.

Wraith suddenly leaped forward. Her claws extended.

Wraith: "I'm not weak."

She attacked.

Strom attacked from the front.

Sam unleashed spell after spell from behind.

All three fought together.

Wraith's dagger and claws tore into Gorgon's wounds.

Sam's spells burned the exposed flesh.

Strom's spear ripped through the weakened scales.

Gorgon roared in anger, Screamed in pain but they didn't stop.

They were actually hurting him.

Then...

BOOM!!!

Gorgon's tail slammed into the ground.

The shockwave threw Strom away like a ragdoll. He flew toward the edge of the cliff.

His hands desperately grabbed the rocks.

Below him...

The dark ocean waited.

But the water wasn't what scared him.

Something else was.

Wraith was thrown backward.

She barely avoided the full impact.

Her foot became trapped between cracked rocks.

Wraith: "Damn it!"

She tried pulling herself free.

Nothing.

Gorgon slowly turned his head toward her, because she is one he hates most.

Wraith's eyes widened in fear as he came closer.

No matter how hard she tried to pull her foot back, only blood streaming out.

Strom (struggling): "Wraith!"

Sam had also been thrown away by the impact.

He slowly stood.

His eyes locked onto Gorgon.

Then onto Wraith...

Sam (angry): "Not on my watch, asshole."

He raised his staff and the clouds answered.

Lightning gathered above the battlefield.

Sam: "GET AWAY FROM HER!"

CRAAAAAASH!!!

A massive lightning bolt struck on Gorgon's face directly.

For one moment...

The night became day.

Gorgon's enormous head slammed into the ground. Then...

Silence.

Sam (stared): "...Did I just kill that thing?"

Gorgon's eyes suddenly opened again.

Sam: "I was joking, bro."

Even when Wraith was front of him Gorgon moved towards Sam this time... The priorities have changed.

Gorgon lunged.

Sam dodged.

Gorgon snapped again.

Sam threw up a barrier.

CRASH!!!

(The barrier shattered.)

Gorgon's jaws slammed into the ground.

Sam rolled away.

Gorgon attacked again.

Sam dodged.

Again.

Sam barely moved out of the way.

Again.

Sam (panicking): "Fuck! Fuck! Fuck! Fuck! Fuck!"

He slipped crashing on the ground.

Sam: "Oh, shit!"

Gorgon's jaws opened wide.

Then...

STRUCK!!!

Strom's spear pierced directly through one of the Gorgon's eye.

He screamed in unimaginable pain.

When Strom grabbed Sam and yanked him out of the way.

Strom: "Luck!"

Sam: "Skillz."

They ran toward Wraith.

Behind them, Gorgon violently slammed his head against the rocks.

THUD!!!

The impact forced Strom's spear out of his eye and the serpent slowly raised his head.

For the first time...

He retreated.

Strom and Sam reached Wraith.

Together, they freed her trapped foot.

The three turned back, toward Gorgon. But he was gone.

Only the sound of rain remained.

Strom (looked around): "See? It wasn't that hard."

Sam: "Yeah. Thank me later."

Wraith said nothing.

She stared at her own hands.

She had fought him!

The creature she had feared since birth.

The nightmare her family had spent generations avoiding.

And somehow...

She had stood against him.

Wraith (quietly): "...I actually fought him."

Strom: "Told you."

Wraith: "Who cares."

Strom: "There she is."

For a brief moment, everything felt peaceful again.

The three turned toward the path leading away from the cliff.

Then...

Silence.

Pure silence. An uncomfortable type.

Sam (stopped): "...It feels wrong."

Strom: "Stay alert."

CRASH!!!

Something enormous had fallen into the ocean behind them.

All three turned around. But

Nothing.

The ocean was still dark.

Silent.

Empty.

Sam: "Where did he-"

A massive shadow suddenly rose from the water.

Gorgon leaped.

Straight toward them.

His jaws opened.

But this time...

Something was different.

He was far larger than before.

The cliff itself looked insignificant beside him.

This wasn't the Gorgon they had fought. But...

This is the nightmare Wraith had heard about.

The nightmare that had ruled the deep dark sea.

The chains that once bound him were gone. Wounds had completely healed.

Eyes burning with pure rage.

Hundreds of teeth filled his enormous jaws that looked like an endless darkness.

All three froze.

Their bodies refused to move.

The fear returned.

But this time...

It wasn't just Wraith who felt it.

The end was near.

Then...

A blinding blue light erupted from Strom's pendant.

Chapter 4: A Monster for the Monster

Gorgon was forced to retreat as the blinding blue light made him lose his vision for a moment.

When the light finally faded, the battlefield had changed.

Dravyss stood tall between them.

On one side were Strom, Wraith, and Sam, all staring in shock.

On the other side...

Gorgon.

Unharmed.

Dravyss's eyes locked onto him.

Instantly, the scar across Gorgon's face, the long claw mark left behind from their previous battle, began glowing faintly blue. It reacted violently to her presence.

Gorgon: "You!"

Dravyss (cold): "I should've buried you deeper."

Wraith (shocked): "So you were the one... All along?"

Dravyss didn't answer.

Her wings stretched wide then she launched herself forward.

Gorgon immediately opened his jaws, trying to bite her.

Dravyss dodged at the last moment and slammed her claw directly beside his eye.

The same place where her pervious attack left the mark.

Gorgon roared and lunged forward, water exploding from his scales like a tidal wave.

But Dravyss caught him mid-air.

She twisted her body and slammed his enormous head into the ground.

THUD!!!

The impact shook the entire cliff, as Gorgon hit the rocks.

Dravyss: "Taste some dirt."

Gorgon snarled.

His massive tail suddenly wrapped around Dravyss's waist and threw her into the deep ocean.

SPLASH!!!

Gorgon (cold): "Stay hydrated, lizard."

The serpent turned toward the others, ready to end them.

Then he noticed something strange...

Strom's expressions weren't just Fear.

It was mixed with Worry also.

Genuine fear for Dravyss.

Gorgon's eyes narrowed as he remembered that look.

The same human who had once attacked his eye without hesitation, cared deeply for the dragon.

A cruel smile slowly appeared across his face and with that Gorgon immediately dove back into the water.

Strom (alarmed): "No!"

He ran toward the ocean, as if he could actually stop him.

Sam grabbed him and yanked him backward before he could jump in himself.

Sam (shouting): "Strom, no!"

A massive whirlpool suddenly formed.

The ocean violently churned.

Then...

Dravyss burst from the water.

She was holding something in her claws.

A massive chain locked with a big anchor.

One of the chains that had once bound the serpent.

Gorgon rose from the ocean behind her.

He was far larger than Dravyss.

His enormous body curled around the coastline, with half of him submerged beneath the water and the other half towering above it.

Dravyss was already massive in her Guardian Form.

But Gorgon was approximately two kilometers long.

Dravyss was only around fifteen hundred feet.

The difference in size was enormous.

And yet...

She wasn't afraid of him.

Dravyss swung the massive chain. It slammed directly into Gorgon's face.

THUD!!!

Before he could react, Dravyss followed with a powerful punch that shattered several of his teeth.

Gorgon roared.

But Dravyss was already gone before he could attack back. She spread her wings and flew high into the sky.

Gorgon (furious): "Coward!"

A massive stream of blue flames suddenly descended upon his face.

The fire burned through his scales. Shattered his pride.

Gorgon screamed in agony and was forced to dive back into the ocean.

Dravyss hovered above him.

Dravyss: "Now who's the coward?"

A massive cyclone suddenly formed across the sea.

Dravyss stopped.

Her eyes narrowed as she watched the center of the storm.

Where was he?

Then...

Gorgon erupted from behind her.

His massive tail wrapped around her body.

The force of his grip was massive.

CRACK! Crack! CRACK!

A faint sound of bones breaking echoed through the storm.

Gorgon: "So... where were we?"

Dravyss immediately bit down on his tail and claws dug into his flesh.

Then she tore it, Gorgon's tail ripped apart.

He roared in pain.

Dravyss released him and slammed her wings against his face.

FLAP!!!

A powerful punch followed that sent Gorgon crashing backward into the ocean.

Strom (shouting): "Please come back!"

Dravyss didn't respond.

Maybe she hadn't heard him.

Or maybe she had.

Either way, she dove straight into the water with fury burning in her eyes.

She wanted to end this.

Now.

A massive blue light suddenly erupted beneath the ocean.

Gorgon's enormous body twisted beneath the surface like he was wrapping something.

Then after several seconds...

Silence.

Pure silence.

The waves stopped moving.

The ocean became completely still.

No movement.

No sound.

Nothing.

Then the water slowly churned.

Dark red spread across the surface.

Strom froze, his eyes widened, heart nearly stopped for a beat.

Only Gorgon's enormous red eyes remained visible beneath the crimson water.

Strom (eyes wide, voice trembling): "no... No... NO!"

He suddenly jumped over the cliff straight into the ocean and nobody expected it.

Sam and Wraith's eyes widened.

Wraith immediately tried to follow him.

Sam grabbed her just in time.

Sam: "Wake up, Wraith!"

Wraith (crying): "B-but he..."

Sam: "I'm sorry."

Strom hits the water like a stone throw into river.

He immediately began swimming towards Gorgon, his spear shining, still in his hand.

Gorgon: "Come to me, little human."

Strom (furious): "WHERE IS SHE?!"

Suddenly...

A massive blue claw grabbed Gorgon's jaw. The serpent was violently yanked backward.

Another explosion of blue light erupted beneath the water.

Then Dravyss emerged.

Her wings were torn, scales were cracked.

Blood ran down her body.

But one of her claws remained buried deep into Gorgon's neck.

Dravyss (to Strom): "Go back."

Strom's eyes immediately relaxed.

She was alive.

He began swimming back toward the shore.

But before leaving, Strom threw his spear.

The weapon pierced Gorgon's neck, landing directly beside Dravyss's claw.

Finally Strom reached the coastline and climbed out of the water.

He immediately runs and began climbing back up the cliff.

His heart was still racing.

But at least she was alive.

Behind him, Dravyss punched Gorgon directly in the face.

She grabbed his jaw with both claws and tried to tear it apart.

Suddenly...

Gorgon's eyes opened.

His tail slammed into Dravyss from behind.

BOOM!!!

She lost her grip and was thrown backward.

Dravyss barely managed to regain her balance before falling into the ocean.

SPLASH!!!

Gorgon suddenly leaps toward her.

His jaws opened wide.

Dravyss tried to dodge.

But she was too late.

His jaws closed around her.

Dravyss immediately pushed against both sides of his mouth, preventing his enormous jaws from crushing her alive.

Gorgon began applying even more force.

Dravyss struggled hard to keep herself from becoming his dinner tonight.

Then...

CRAAAAASH!!!

A lightning bolt struck them.

Sam's forbidden spell meant to hurt Gorgon. But it hits Dravyss too.

Sam: "Damn it."

Dravyss broke free.

Her claw immediately rose toward Gorgon's eye.

She was going to tear it out.

But Gorgon reacted first and slammed his tail into her.

Dravyss was forced upward, thrown into the air once again.

Gorgon roared staring at her.

Dravyss spread her wings, eyes locked on him.

The battle wasn't over yet.

Not even close.

Chapter 5: A true Dragon

The battle was savage as hell.

Both were monsters. One ruled the ocean, while the other ruled the sky.

Dravyss kept flying around Gorgon, striking him before immediately pulling away. Despite his enormous size, Gorgon couldn't land many attacks. Dravyss was simply too fast.

She slammed her tail against his face, tore at his fangs with her claws, then flew away before he could retaliate.

Gorgon (furious): "Come down, little bird."

Dravyss: "You."

She immediately dived toward him.

Her uppercut struck his jaw, followed by another devastating punch that knocked his enormous head backward.

Without wasting a second, Dravyss interlocked her fingers and brought both fists crashing down onto Gorgon's head.

THUD!!!

The impact sounded like thunder crashing down upon the earth.

But this was Dravyss's mistake.

For just a moment, she had stayed within his range longer than usual.

Gorgon finally caught her with his tail.

Dravyss struggled and managed to break free, but before she could escape...

Gorgon lunged.

His jaws clamped down on her chest.

He wasn't trying to eat her this time.

He was trying to tear her body apart.

His jaws locked around her with terrifying force.

Dravyss cried out in pain as blood covered Gorgon's face.

The ocean turned red once again.

But this time...

It was her blood.

Gorgon refused to release his bit until Dravyss's wings stopped moving.

Then his tail wrapped around her injured body and hurled her away.

She crashed against the cliff with a deafening impact, rocks breaking beneath her body.

For a moment, she didn't move.

Blood slowly pooled beneath her.

Her wings trembled weakly as she struggled to breathe.

Dravyss's eyes were barely open.

She was fading.

Strom immediately rushed toward her and fell to his knees beside her.

Strom: "Mom..."

He grabbed one of her claws with both hands.

It was huge compared to him.

He simply held onto it.

Behind them, the ocean began to tremble.

Gorgon was coming.

His enormous body tore through the water as he swam toward the coastline at full speed.

He wasn't stopping.

Strom slowly looked toward him.

His eyes began to turn red.

Not from rage.

Not from some sudden burst of power.

It was simply... human anger.

The kind of anger that came from watching someone you loved get hurt.

Strom's hand tightened around Dravyss's claw.

His other hand closed into a fist.

And then...

Something answered.

Gorgon's movement suddenly slowed.

His eyes narrowed as he feels something was wrong.

The Spear...

Strom's spear was still buried inside his neck.

Gorgon suddenly felt an unnatural pressure pushing deeper toward his throat.

His eyes widened.

The weapon that had seemed insignificant against his enormous body was suddenly becoming a threat.

Gorgon: "What...?"

Strom's fist tightened.

The spear responded.

It violently pierced farther through Gorgon's neck, its tip pressing toward the inside of his throat.

Gorgon stopped.

Completely.

The enormous serpent remained partially submerged in the ocean, his massive head hovering above the water.

For the first time since the battle began...

Gorgon wasn't moving forward.

He could feel the weapon.

Strom slowly raised his head.

His eyes remained fixed on Gorgon.

Strom (cold): "Don't you dare."

His voice carried no fear and no shouting...

Just a warning.

Gorgon stared at the tiny human kneeling beside Dravyss.

The same human who had once attacked his eye.

The same human who had thrown this very spear into his neck.

And now...

That weapon was where it needed to be.

One more movement...

And it would go even farther.

Strom tightened his grip around Dravyss's claw.

For a moment, the entire battlefield fell silent.

The waves stopped.

The rain slowed.

Even the monster stopped.

Everything became calm.

But the human didn't.

___

Wraith and Sam desperately tried to wake Dravyss while Strom continued holding her claw, his eyes fixed on Gorgon.

Gorgon still felt the weapon inside his throat.

Then his eyes suddenly widened.

An idea had struck him.

He slowly lowered his head.

Then...

SLAM!!!

He smashed his head against the cliff side.

Again.

SLAM!!!

Again.

And again.

Each impact shook the rocks around him.

Gorgon continued until the spear was no longer stuck between his flesh.

It was fully embedded.

The pain became less.

And now...

Nothing was stopping him.

Gorgon immediately dove deep into the ocean.

A second later, the massive serpent erupted from the water with his jaws wide open.

He was ready to devour all of them at once.

But before a single tooth could touch anyone...

BOOM!!!

A powerful punch from Dravyss sent him crashing back into the ocean.

She was weak.

Bleeding.

Broken.

But the Guardian Dragon was still alive.

Dravyss immediately grabbed all three of them in her arms and flew away from the monster lurking beneath the ocean.

Far from the cliff.

Far from the water.

Far from the danger... For now.

Once she released them, Strom immediately stepped forward, rage still flowing through his blood.

Strom: "I'll end him."

Dravyss: "No. You all stay back."

Strom: "Let me fight him. I'll end him, I promise."

Dravyss didn't answer immediately.

Instead, she drew a small circle around them with one of her claws.

Dravyss: "Promise me you won't step outside this circle until I come back."

Strom: "You can't lock us-"

Dravyss (cutting him off): "PROMISE ME!"

Her voice echoed like thunder.

They all fell silent immediately.

Dravyss was always gentle with them.

But this time, her voice carried something far stronger than pain.

Worry...

Strom (quietly): "Okay."

Dravyss: "Now give me my stone back."

Strom froze.

For a moment, he simply stared at her.

Then Dravyss extended her claw.

Dravyss (cold): "My stone."

Strom didn't argue.

He carefully handed it to her.

Dravyss took the stone with a satisfied smile.

Dravyss: "Now he'll see what a true Dragon looks like."

She flew away at full speed, the stone locking back in with her chest stone.

Instantly, her scales began to shine.

Her fangs ignited with blue flames.

Meanwhile, inside the circle, Sam looked toward the battlefield.

Sam: "Actually, I gotta admit... Gorgon smells like rotten fish."

Wraith stared at him in disbelief.

Strom tried to keep a straight face.

He failed.

A laugh escaped him.

Far away, Dravyss reached the battlefield.

Gorgon was already waiting near the cliff.

Dravyss: "It's over for you, Gorgon."

Gorgon: "You talk too much."

This time, Gorgon didn't get the chance to attack first.

Dravyss launched herself at him.

Gorgon opened his jaws, ready to tear her apart.

But Dravyss grabbed both sides of his mouth.

This time...

Her strength was far greater.

Gorgon violently shook his head, then wrapped his tail around her and dragged her into the deep ocean.

Gorgon: "Defeating me inside the water isn't possible, you know"

He followed her beneath the surface.

A massive whirlpool formed.

Divine blue light erupted from within the dark ocean.

Then...

Dravyss emerged.

But something had changed... She was bigger.

Far bigger.

She was in her collosal form of knight Dragon.

This time, she was larger than Gorgon himself.

Her claws locked around his body as she carried him upward, just like a hawk carrying away a snake.

Higher.

Higher.

Even higher.

Until they reached the sky above the clouds.

Gorgon (furious): "You can't defeat me! I'm the ruler of the dark sea!"

Dravyss: "NOT ANYMORE!"

She grabbed both of his jaws.

Then...

A massive explosion of blue flames erupted from her mouth.

The fire engulfed Gorgon.

It burned through his flesh from mouth to tail.

From the outside...

And from within.

Gorgon tried to scream.

But the flames consumed him before he could even finish.

The ruler of the dark sea was gone.

His lifeless body crashed against the rocks and fell into the ocean below.

Silence returned.

Dravyss slowly returned to her normal form.

The thirty-five-foot dragon everyone knew and loved.

She flew back toward the others and landed directly in front of the circle.

Just as she had promised.

No one spoke.

For several seconds, they simply stared at her.

Then Strom finally broke the silence.

Strom: "My mother is... Godlike."
