Madara POV.
I will not live past today.
I have delayed my death as much as possible in order to give as much training as possible to Obito. Living longer is no longer possible. I have been confined to my bed for the past month, leading to his training slowing down day by day as my condition has continued to worsen.
Hopefully it was enough. Hopefully he will be strong enough to complete my plan, to make everyone's dreams come true. I close my eyes and take my final breath. I am sitting on a chair. I activate my mangekyou sharingan. Thanks to the edo tensei I rise up without any of the difficulties brought by age.
I examine the room I am in. In front of me is a wooden table with a piece of paper on it. The room I am in is made out of wood, has no windows and a single door. Other than the table in front of me and the chair I am sitting on there is nothing else inside of the room.
First I carefully examine the room, finding nothing by doing so. The door reveals that I was brought back into an empty cabin in the forests surrounding Konoha. Then I begin aggressively inspecting the cabin, tearing out the wooden floor and dismantling the walls. The only find by doing so are five gold bars hidden underneath the cabin, most likely put there during its construction. By now the cabin has been almost completely dismantled.I take in a deep breath.
I am back on the chair.
I take the letter from the table and begin reading it. The handwriting immediately stands out. It is oddly mechanical, composed entirely of straight lines.
'Our plan has failed. Neither the seven tails jinchuriki, a man named Killer Bee, nor the seven tails itself are able to be located. One of Akatsuki's, the organization I formed as a front, assets, Itachi Uchiha, is the most likely culprit. During a war between Kumogakure and Konohagakure he was assigned to capture Killer Bee. His partner disappeared along with the jinchuriki. The last sighting of Itachi was when he ambushed his brother, committing suicide in order to provide him with his eyes.
The only plausible theory that we have is that he sealed either the jinchuriki or the tailed beast inside of an object, hiding it afterwards. Despite extensive searching we have been unable to find anything regarding the seven tails.
Nagato Uzumaki, the person I transplanted your eyes into, proved himself impatient and declared war on the entire elemental nations. His plan was to crush their entire alliance all at once. A shinobi by the name of Might Guy proved to be the downfall of the Akatsuki. He utilized a kinjutsu involving the chakra gates and obliterated the entirety of the akatsuki on his lonesome, the only survivors of his attack were Kakuzu, a janshin cultist by the name of Hidan and Nagato himself.
Kakuzu and Hidan escaped, Nagato was found by the survivors of the alliance. The alliance suffered heavy losses but managed to successfully eliminate Nagato. I killed the survivors of the battle and attempted to take the pair of Rinnegan.
Before I could take them I was betrayed by Black Zetsu. He heavily wounded me, possessed my body and then stole both my eyes and the Rinnegan. I don't know for sure whether I managed to escape him or whether I was simply let go. Without my eyes I cannot ascertain for sure whether I was followed or not. The wounds he inflicted on me refuse to heal under any jutsu I attempted.
I plan to use the edo tensei to bring you back, using myself as the sacrifice. Without access to Kamui I am unable to access any of our resources, having stored almost all of them inside of my dimension.'
I am back on the chair. I go out of the cabin and begin searching the surrounding area. It takes multiple loops to ensure that there is no one around, checking that all signs are identical throughout each loop makes me certain that this location is not currently under direct surveillance. Whether or not Obito was tailed to this location is uncertain. There are no signs pointing towards it, but that does not mean anything other than there not being any amateurs following him here.
I deactivate the mangekyou and go outside of the cabin for the final time. I dislike using this power more than necessary. The more that I use it the more reliant I find myself on its use.
I need to scout what is happening in the world at this moment and then decide what to do afterwards. Black Zetsu's betrayal is somewhat of a shock but in hindsight he was always a little too… independent. I need to understand what his exact plan is. He almost certainly used me to gather the tailed beasts for him, either because he was too weak to do so or because something prevented him from doing so personally.
