Chapter 11 - Chapter 11 — Tang Hao’s Quiet Approval

The morning air was crisp, carrying the faint scent of damp earth from the previous night's rain. Ayan walked toward Tang San's house with a casual bounce in his step. He could still remember the music and bright lights of the dance show they'd seen last night — and Tang San's awkward but excited grin.

Tang San was outside, splitting firewood, his sleeves rolled up. When he saw Ayan approaching, his face lit up with a smile.

"You're here early," Tang San said, setting the axe aside.

"I've got something to tell you," Ayan replied, lowering his voice as he leaned in. "It's about the next thing we're gonna do."

Before Tang San could answer, a low, deep voice rumbled from the doorway.

"What are you two talking about?"

Both boys turned to see Tang Hao standing there. He looked at them for a moment, his expression unreadable. Then, to their surprise, his lips curved into the faintest smile.

"It's good to see you making friends, Tang San," he said, his tone carrying a rare warmth.

Tang San blinked, a little caught off guard. "Mn… thank you, Dad."

Tang Hao gave Ayan a nod. "Look after him, will you?"

Ayan smirked. "Of course, Uncle Tang."

With that, Tang Hao stepped back inside, leaving the boys alone. Tang San turned to Ayan, his eyes slightly brighter than before.

"He's… never said that to me before," Tang San admitted.

Ayan chuckled. "Guess I'm just that charming."

Tang San shook his head with a small laugh, and the two of them headed off together — ready for whatever mischief Ayan had in mind next.
