Chapter 63 - Let's Catch the Snake, This Snake Is Huge!

"Cassius! Did you hear me? Bring me some clothes!" Wanda's voice echoed from upstairs.

"Coming!" Cassius immediately relaxed. He had been so engrossed in the moment that he hadn't even realized the voice came from upstairs.

"I'm going to go take some clothes up for Wanda first." Cassius gently patted Gwen's firm back while holding her, his voice soft. Feeling the bounciness of her back, he was in a much better mood. After all, the more you flirted with danger, the more dopamine you got.

"Oh, okay." Gwen reluctantly let go of Cassius's embrace. The long moments of close contact and skin-to-skin feel had left her feeling like she had a fever. The feeling of being with the person she loved was so wonderful that she couldn't get enough of it. This was probably the kind of affection she had always been looking for.

Before letting go, she couldn't help but stand on her tiptoes and kiss his handsome face once more. Only then did she step back two steps.

"Could you keep an eye on the food for me? Just make sure it doesn't burn." Cassius said with a smile, ruffling Gwen's hair.

"Okay!" Gwen nodded obediently, feeling the warmth of Cassius's hand. Watching him leave, Gwen couldn't help but feel a little envious.

Their relationship was like family, and it had reached such a comfortable level. All it took was one sentence from Wanda for Cassius to thoughtfully find some clothes for her. If she could have that kind of relationship with Cassius in the future, that would be the best thing ever.

"Oh no! The food!" Gwen saw the slightly burnt dish and quickly grabbed a spatula to flip it over. Even so, some thoughts still lingered in her mind.

'It looks like I need to find a chance to talk to Cassius...'

'But is it too early?'

The requests from her parents had made Gwen a little impatient. But no matter what, the timing wasn't right yet. After all, if she could just confirm their relationship one day earlier, then she could...

Thinking of this, her face instantly turned red, and she remembered the kiss they had just shared. She subconsciously held her abdomen. She knew what Cassius was hiding there was not a weapon.

"Ahhh~~" Just as Gwen was lost in her thoughts, a soft scream suddenly came from upstairs. The sudden sound startled her, and she immediately snapped back to reality. She quickly turned off the stove and rushed toward the stairs.

"What's wrong?" Gwen yelled out with an anxious voice. Had something happened? Even though the Scarlet Witch was powerful, it was still possible for her to slip and fall.

"It's nothing! Don't come up! I saw a snake!" Wanda's heavy breathing came from upstairs. There was a hint of fear in her voice, but also some joy. However, her voice sounded very weak, as if she were afraid of something.

"Then I'll come up and help you catch it!" Gwen quickly shouted. Because of her quick reflexes, she had never been afraid of snakes. But she never would have thought that the mighty Scarlet Witch would be afraid of a snake. She was a person who could easily destroy enemies!

"No need! No need! Cassius has closed the door. We don't want the snake to get out!" Wanda's voice from upstairs became more urgent, and the sound of furniture being moved could be heard.

"Right, Gwen, could you please keep an eye on the... food for me! I'll come down once I catch the snake!" Just then, Cassius's voice also came from upstairs. "I see the snake! Don't let it get away!"

"Okay, be careful!" Gwen could only shake her head and sigh to herself. 'Living in such a remote area isn't always a good thing!'

She wasn't too surprised that a snake had gotten into the house. After all, in a place with so many trees, snakes and insects were a common occurrence. And with Mr. Cassius there, even if there was a snake, it wouldn't be a big problem, and he would catch it quickly.

But it was still a good thing to get rid of it so no one would get bitten and end up in the hospital at night.

She had wanted to go up and help, but she remembered that the door was closed. It would be bad if the snake accidentally got out. She could only go back to the kitchen and continue to watch the black chicken, pork rib, and ginseng soup boiling.

'It's taking a long time. It's been over an hour just to catch a snake!' Gwen stirred the spoon in the pot absentmindedly, thinking to herself. 'It seems that even Mr. Cassius has things he's not good at!'

She was different. Thinking of this, she couldn't help but get a little excited. If she were to move in, she could take care of all the snake-catching duties. She was confident she wouldn't fail!

Just then, the sound of footsteps finally came from the stairs. Gwen quickly put down the spoon and peeked her head out. She saw Cassius walking down the stairs with a smile, adjusting his clothes. "Thanks for helping me watch the food."

"It's nothing! It was no big deal at all!" Gwen shook her head repeatedly. After all, she just had to watch the fire. "Oh, where's Wanda?" She noticed that Wanda hadn't come down with Cassius and was a little curious.

"Oh, she was so scared by the snake that she went to brush her teeth to calm down!" Cassius's smile was a little weird as he walked past Gwen and into the kitchen.

As he passed, Gwen smelled the same laundry detergent scent she had smelled last time. It seemed that Mr. Cassius liked that niche scent after all. But she was still a little confused.

Why would you brush your teeth to calm down after being scared? It seemed that everyone had their own weird habits. It was probably similar to how she liked to go to the park to watch the sunset after a big fight.

After getting back to the kitchen, Cassius saw the slightly burnt dish and shook his head helplessly. It seemed that one of the dishes wouldn't be so perfect. At least the other dishes were almost ready.

But it couldn't be helped. He had been too hungry just now. When a person was hungry, they could do anything. It was his fault for not being able to control himself, so he didn't have time to come down and check if the food was burnt.

Since the dishes were almost cooked, Cassius simply handled the last few things and brought them to the dining table.

"Wow, Wellington steak, honey-glazed roast chicken, sizzling hot pot beef..." As Cassius brought out the dishes one by one, Gwen couldn't help but exclaim in excitement. The entire dining room was filled with the aroma of food.

Tap, tap, tap... Just then, Gwen heard footsteps coming from the stairs. She looked back and saw Wanda carefully making her way down the stairs, holding onto the railing. And with every step she took, the expression on her face became a little strange.

"Ms. Wanda, are you okay?" Seeing Wanda like this, Gwen asked with a concerned voice. Wanda was her idol after all, so seeing her in discomfort made her a little worried.

"It's nothing. I was so scared by the snake that I accidentally twisted my ankle," Wanda said through gritted teeth, her face a little red. She never would have thought that she would have to lie to such a cute young girl. But it was her own fault for forgetting to bring clothes with her.

"Then I'll go get you some medicine!" Gwen quickly asked. Spraining your ankle was very painful. It could even swell up and stay red for a long time.

"No need," Wanda waved her hands repeatedly, her face turning even redder. "Cassius already treated it for me, so I'm fine now."

"Oh," Gwen just nodded casually when she heard that.

"What are you guys talking about?" Cassius's voice came from the kitchen. "Come and eat! Everything's ready!"

"Okay! We're coming!" The two of them walked into the dining room. As soon as they walked in, they were met with a powerful aroma. On the dining table, there were over a dozen dishes. Every dish looked delicious, except for one that was slightly burnt.

"Wow, this looks amazing!" Wanda's eyes widened, and she said with an excited voice. This was a big difference from the breakfast from before. That breakfast had been light, but this was a feast of colors, aromas, and flavors.

"It looks like you're really hungry." Cassius grinned and raised an eyebrow, drizzling a rich creamy mushroom sauce over the Russian sausages.

"You really are..." Wanda pouted her lips angrily.

After sitting down at the table, the three of them began to feast.

"Gwen, try this piece of Wellington steak. It's delicious!" Wanda picked up a tender piece of Wellington steak from the plate with a fork and put it in Gwen's bowl.

"This piece of yak meat is pretty good. You should try it too!" Cassius also put a finger-sized piece of meat into Gwen's bowl.

Seeing the two of them constantly putting food in her bowl, Gwen felt a warmth in her heart. They were both caring for her. She couldn't help but fantasize about how happy it would be to be with the two of them.

"Mr. Cassius, could I invite you to my house for dinner tomorrow?" After finishing the food in her bowl, Gwen gathered her courage and looked up at Cassius. She wanted to bring Cassius home to meet her parents. Otherwise, her two old parents would probably continue to nag about this forever.

"..." Cassius hesitated for a moment but eventually nodded and agreed.

After they had eaten their fill, all three of them were sprawled out in their chairs. Although they had tried to eat as much as they could, there was still a lot of leftover food.

"That was so good!" The well-fed Wanda said with a slight blush and a smile on her face. This was the best food she had ever eaten. Thinking that she might be able to eat this often in the future, she couldn't help but get a little excited.

Especially the dish with the rich, creamy mushroom sauce. Just thinking about it made her cheeks flush. It seemed that no matter which of the two she was with, she would never go hungry.

"Oh dear!" Just then, Gwen looked at the clock on the wall and let out a gasp.

"What's wrong?" Cassius looked at Gwen with a puzzled expression.

"It's pretty late now, and my parents are probably worried! I have to go back!" Gwen said with an urgent tone. Ever since she told her parents that she had a crush on someone last time, they had become even more strict with her. If she didn't get back soon, she would probably be in trouble again.

"Wanda, you rest first. I'm going to go take Gwen home," Cassius said to Wanda next to him.

"Alright, go on then," Wanda just nodded slightly. She was so full that she didn't want to move at all.

"Just drop me off at the suburban station." Gwen suddenly remembered that her parents were home, and if he dropped her off at the house, they would definitely see him. So she just asked Cassius to drop her off in the suburbs, and she could use her webs to swing home from there.

"Alright then." With Wanda right there, Cassius didn't insist.

At the suburban station. The night was deep, and there weren't many people on the street anymore.

"I'm heading back now." Gwen said reluctantly. She really didn't want to leave, but if she didn't get back soon, her dad, George, would probably go to the police station to investigate where she had gone.

"Okay. I'll be there tomorrow," Cassius said with a smile, ruffling her hair.

"You'd better not forget to come!" After saying that, Gwen got out of the car and walked away, looking back every few steps. She had already told Cassius that she was going to wear her suit back. Since she usually wore her suit under her clothes, she just needed to find an alley to take off her jacket.

"Okay," Cassius nodded and drove away. He had been holding in a lot of frustration, and now he was ready to go back and vent.

After watching Bumblebee's taillights disappear, Gwen was about to find an alley to take off her jacket.

"Little girl, are you all alone here?" Just then, a van slowly stopped by the side of the road, and a man with a full beard stuck his head out.

"Uncle, can I help you?" Gwen instantly became alert when she saw the man. Her spider-sense was subtly warning her that there might be danger. As she spoke, she took an unnoticeable step back. But the man noticed this.

"She's alone!" With a single shout, the back door of the van was instantly pulled open. Several soldiers in black combat uniforms and gas masks rushed out. Without saying a word, they pulled out their guns and started shooting!

Bang! Bang! Bang!!!

Gwen reacted quickly, dodging to the right with a few flips of her slender body. The bullets almost grazed her.

"Who are you guys!" Gwen frowned, and a look of caution appeared on her face. That was too close! If she had been a moment slower, the bullets would have hit her!

"Ghost-Spider, come with us!" A woman's voice came from under one of the masks. When Gwen heard them say the words "Ghost-Spider," her face instantly became very ugly.

"I don't know what you're talking about! You must have the wrong person!" Gwen immediately denied it. But she couldn't figure out how they had recognized her! She had always kept her identity well-hidden, but she never would have thought that they would find her out.

Bang! Bang! Bang!!!

The soldiers didn't answer and immediately pulled the triggers. In the hail of bullets, Gwen quickly dodged the dense gunfire with her spider-sense. At the same time, she shot out her webs, pulling the guns from two of the soldiers' hands and throwing them away. The guns shattered into pieces when they hit the wall.

"Initiate Plan B!" The soldier who had lost his gun calmly raised his hand.

Whoosh!

The next second, a large amount of mist burst out from the van. In an instant, the area within ten meters was completely engulfed in the mist.

"Oh no!" Gwen thought to herself as the mist hit her face. The moment she inhaled the mist, she felt an intense dizziness. Seeing the situation, Gwen immediately tried to turn and run away. But after a few steps, she felt a wave of dizziness.

The soldiers rushed forward, and Gwen tried to resist, but she had no strength left. She was immediately knocked to the ground. Her last memory was being dizzily carried into the van by the soldiers.
