Chapter 59 - The Witch Knight, The Winter Soldier Is Coming!

Poossh...

A faint sound from outside the window interrupted Cassius's thoughts. Although the noise was subtle, the people who were chatting didn't notice the faint sound. He came back to his senses and looked up. A small head peeked out from the corner of the window. She waved at Cassius furtively before quickly pulling back.

Seeing this, Cassius couldn't help but smile slightly. He really hadn't expected Wanda to show up like this. Her little head peeking out was actually quite cute.

"What's wrong, Cassius?" Tony, who was next to him, looked at Cassius with a puzzled expression and followed his gaze, but there was nothing at the window.

"Cough, cough... It's nothing, I just suddenly remembered something about work." Cassius coughed lightly, pretending to have snapped back to reality and looked at Tony.

From Wanda's brief appearance, Cassius realized that she didn't seem to want to make their relationship public just yet. Otherwise, she wouldn't have hidden outside the window just to wave at him. She was definitely sneaking over.

'Right...'

Cassius only now remembered that the two of them hadn't officially confirmed their relationship. They were more like... a very special kind of friends-with-benefits. Since that was the case, he naturally wouldn't be the one to tell Tony and the others about it.

"I didn't know you actually had a job?" Tony's face showed a teasing smile. He knew that Cassius never actively managed anything. Even if he had a company, he would hand it over to a professional company to manage. He didn't even pay attention to the things happening at Stark Industries. And now he was saying that he was thinking about work.

"My days are pretty busy, you know." Cassius rolled his eyes and retorted in annoyance. He might say that, but there was no way he was going to admit it!

Ding!

Just as Tony was about to tease him further, the headset on his right ear suddenly flashed.

[Boss, Secretary of State Ross has intel. A vicious incident has occurred in Germany. The king of Wakanda, in Africa, was killed in a terrorist bomb blast!]

"What?" Tony couldn't stay seated after hearing the news and immediately stood up.

"What's wrong?" Steve noticed Tony's serious expression, put down his glass, and asked. Usually, only a sudden emergency would make the playboy look so grim.

"We have a mission!" Tony picked up the brandy in front of him and downed it in one gulp. "We need to get ready to go!"

"Another mission? We just got a break." Rhodey's face showed his displeasure. They had just dealt with the mess at Orchard Beach today, and now they had another mission. Even he was getting a little irritable.

"It looks like you'll be busy again." Cassius looked at Tony's expression and gave him a teasing look.

"You're the one living the easy life." Tony let out a long sigh, his voice full of helplessness. "The king of Wakanda was killed in a terrorist attack."

This matter couldn't be kept a secret for long, so he might as well tell Cassius about it.

"Wakanda?" Rhodey looked surprised. "What kind of place is that?" He had never heard of that country before.

This incident, along with others around the world, always seemed to involve the Avengers. Although he was on the side of justice, they were the Avengers, not the A-Team. They were becoming like babysitters.

"Do we need to go and provide support?" Steve also stood up and asked.

"We need to go back and get a full briefing from Ross first. Then they can give us a specific plan." Tony placed his glass on the table with a heavy thud. He had thought they could get some rest for a while, but something else had happened.

Cassius, who was listening to their conversation, also understood the current situation. It seemed like the time had finally come!

In his original plan, the Civil War would have ended after he dealt with Ross. But he hadn't expected things to still follow the original timeline. Baron Zemo had still made his move... which meant the Winter Soldier would be appearing soon.

Cassius's gaze moved back and forth between Tony and Steve. After all, Tony's parents were killed by the Winter Soldier, but Captain America would still stand on the Winter Soldier's side. If things continued like this, the team's split would be inevitable, even without the Sokovia Accords. The two of them had different beliefs, so the conflict would still arise eventually.

He shook his head and threw these distracting thoughts out of his mind. None of this had much to do with him. He had no intention of getting involved in these matters. He would just let them decide for themselves.

As for him, just living a comfortable life was good enough. He simply didn't have the time to worry about other people.

"Cassius, let's get together another time." Tony said apologetically. He had only just arrived and was already leaving.

"It's fine. You guys have something to do, so you should go ahead." Cassius was dying for these guys to leave. His lovely little witch was waiting for him outside.

"Then we'll be going now, Cassius. See you another time!" Tony walked out the door and waved at Cassius. The group then left.

As soon as they drove away, a soft body wrapped around him from behind. A delicate scent filled the air, and he knew from the familiar floral fragrance that the person behind him was Wanda.

Wanda, who was hugging him, buried her head in his clothes and rubbed her face against him like a cute kitten. He could even hear the sound of her soft hair rubbing against his clothes.

"What's wrong? Is my cute little witch so eager to see me?" Cassius held the hands that were wrapped around him, a smile on his face as he teased her.

He had to admit that the scent always made his heart flutter. Although he had been with many women before, he had never felt so at peace. It was the feeling of someone waiting for him, and a warm current rushed through his heart.

"Mmmph!" A muffled sound, like a kitten's purr, came from behind him, and she rubbed against him even more. He could feel the heat on Wanda's cheeks. He guessed that this response had used up all of Wanda's courage.

"I can't believe that's your answer. It looks like I'll have to show you what 'loving you nonstop' is all about tonight!" Cassius suddenly felt his mouth go dry. This was the first time Wanda had been so proactive! Even his body was starting to feel a little hot. If Tony and the others hadn't just left, he probably would have pulled her into the living room and taken her right there.

What made him even more excited was that after the last lesson, he had prepared many different outfits. He guessed he would have to try out a few tonight. Just thinking about it made his eyes curve into crescents.

"Let's go inside. They just left," Wanda said with a hint of worry. Tony had actually asked her to come over and meet Cassius today, but she had made up an excuse to refuse.

The possibility of them being exposed in that situation was too high. She didn't want anyone to know about their relationship until the time was right. And if they stayed here, what if they came back for something and saw them?

"Alright," Cassius turned around and looked down at the face that was so close to his. "But, my cute little witch, you said today that you wanted me to give you a never-before-seen experience, right?"

"I didn't... I just said I could wear the Ghost-Spider suit," Wanda said, shaking her head in fear. Although it was fun, every time he came up with something new, she would get so excited she'd pass out. Every time she woke up, her entire body felt like it was falling apart, so she couldn't help but feel a little panicked when she heard him say that.

"Let's go!" Cassius bent down, picked Wanda up, and walked into the villa. He hooked his right foot and closed the door. "Oh, by the way, I just remembered a game."

Facing his intense gaze, Wanda's heart beat even faster.

"What... what game?" Wanda stuttered a little in her response. Every new thing Cassius came up with opened her eyes and dropped her jaw. Although she was a little scared, her heart was racing with a bit of excitement.

"Have you heard of a rocking horse? I'll let you ride a rocking horse tonight!" Cassius's lips curved up with a wicked smile. But this time, it wouldn't be the car making the sounds, it would be the person.

"A rocking horse?" This was the first time Wanda had heard of such a thing, but what exactly was he going to do? Although she didn't know, she knew that Cassius would definitely teach her. Ever since she had been with Cassius, she had learned a lot... and not just about magic.

"It's okay, tonight I want to be the Witch Knight, and later, I'll be the rocking horse!"

That night was destined to be a sleepless one.

....

In the car heading to Ross's office.

"Are just the three of us going? Should we tell Wanda?" Steve, who was sitting in the passenger seat, frowned slightly. There was still enough time for Wanda to get there from the compound.

"Let's let Wanda rest. After going through such a big battle, she needs a good rest." Tony shook his head and rejected the Captain's suggestion.

Wanda finally had a chance to rest. And they didn't know the specific situation over there yet, so even if they called Wanda, she might not be able to help much. Besides, Wanda still had some trauma from her last mission in Germany.

Rhodey, who was driving the car, said with a tired look, "I hope we can solve this quickly..." No one wanted to work every day. Especially not a superhero.

"Rhodey, this mission should be easier than the last one." Tony was optimistic. "When we get back, we'll throw a celebratory party."

....

Early in the morning.

Sunlight shone through the white curtains, and the fresh air blew away the last traces of the previous night's activities.

Cassius looked at the scene next to him, and a slight smile appeared on his face. Wanda was still asleep, exhausted from the previous night. Even now, her brows were slightly furrowed.

"So old, yet she loves riding the rocking horse so much." Cassius recalled the previous night's events and shook his head with a doting smile. He really hadn't expected Wanda to show a completely different side of herself.

"The weather is great today!" Cassius carefully got out of bed and looked at the clear sky, sighing in admiration. He pulled open the window, and the cool autumn breeze blew on his face. The unique chill filled his lungs and made him feel much more awake.

"Should I take my little witch out?" Because he had been busy with personal matters lately, he hadn't had the maids come back to work. This meant he didn't have any ingredients to cook with, even though he wanted to. Although he could just order them online, he remembered that his little witch liked a more leisurely life.

Thinking of this, he turned his head to look at Wanda behind him. Wanda was lying on the bed, her lips slightly ajar, letting out a light snore.

"Wake up, my cute little witch. Let's go shopping," Cassius leaned in close to Wanda and said softly. But Wanda was in a deep sleep and didn't react at all to Cassius's voice. She even turned from her side to sleep on her back.

Looking at her delicate face, Cassius suddenly got a playful idea. He gently blew on her, and Wanda's eyelashes trembled slightly. Despite this, Wanda showed no sign of opening her eyes.

"You're not waking up? It looks like sometimes you can only be woken up by a morning workout!" Cassius's eyes narrowed, and a passionate feeling surged in his heart.

"What are you doing?" Wanda suddenly opened her eyes when she felt the touch. His energy was truly boundless.

Cassius didn't say anything, but his lips only formed two words: "Morning workout."

More than two hours later.

Wanda, dragging her tired body, finally got into the Camaro with Cassius.

"Where are you taking me today?" Wanda rubbed her sleepy eyes and pouted at Cassius. Cassius had made her get up early to run, which had left her breathless, and now they were going out again.

"I'm taking you out to buy groceries." Cassius sat in the driver's seat and lightly stepped on the gas. "Don't you like my cooking?"

He actually felt a little guilty about the last time she had breakfast. He had prepared another breakfast, but Wanda had come down so fast that he hadn't had time to switch them out. So this time, he was going to make three meals for Wanda.

"Really?!" Wanda's bright eyes blinked as she asked excitedly. After eating the breakfast Cassius made last time, she had been thinking about his cooking all the time. After all, his "handiwork" was just too good.

In a large chain supermarket.

Wanda, wearing a mask, held Cassius's arm and walked around, picking out ingredients. Although she couldn't show her true face, she felt an excitement she had never experienced before. Walking around the supermarket and picking out groceries felt as if they were already married. A sense of contentment flowed through her heart, and as she smelled the scent of the person next to her, she felt a taste of true happiness.

In less than an hour, their shopping cart was filled with all sorts of ingredients. It was enough to make a huge feast for Wanda. After leaving the supermarket, Cassius put the items from the shopping cart into the trunk.

"Cassius, I... I want some ice cream!" Just as they were about to get into the car to go back, Wanda tugged on Cassius's shirt sleeve and stared intently at the ice cream shop in the distance.

"You really are a child." Cassius reached out and gently flicked Wanda's nose before taking her toward the ice cream shop in the distance.

"Mr. Cassius!" But after only taking two steps, a voice came from behind them. The moment he heard that voice, the expression on Cassius's face froze. It was so familiar...

"Cassius, someone's calling you." Wanda turned her head and saw someone jogging toward Cassius.

Cassius slowly and stiffly turned his head, and there, standing not far behind them, was Gwen. The girl smiled and waved at him.
