It was afternoon and the sun definitely didn't care about the homeless wandering the wilderness; it was just doing its job diligently, shining brightly and emitting heat.
Despite the merciless heat, Darius was busy tearing satisfyingly into the roasted wild boar he had caught that morning. His massive wolf form was crouched as he chewed.
A sudden rustling in the bush opposite him made his ears prick up. He lifted his head, his eyes scanning the area until they settled on a small squirrel that had frozen mid-leap between two trees.
The tiny creature's black eyes were wide with terror as it took in the sight of the giant wolf-like human that stood nearly seven feet tall even on all fours.
The squirrel let out a high-pitched squeal of pure fear, its tiny body trembling so violently that Darius could smell the scent of its terror.
At that, a low chuckle rumbled from Darius's chest.
