Both of them turned toward Rong Ye with identical expressions that screamed: "You're dead."

Xuan Long's expression darkened instantly; his face went so black it could have dripped ink. His jaw tightened, and his forked tongue flickered slightly against his teeth...a silent warning.
He slowly calmed down his raging eyes and asked once again in a low voice, giving him a chance that maybe he heard it wrong. "What did you say?"
But Rong Ye just smiled wider, looking completely unbothered. "What?" he said innocently, pretending confusion. "I only meant it's dangerous, right? Some beasts lose control during their… you know… season."
His tail swished proudly.
