Chapter 155: Lady Une (1)

Lady Une stared in shock for several seconds at the rippling, colorless energy shield covering Tolle's body.

Then, her expression turned to delight. She picked up the pointer beside her and struck Tolle hard a few times, confirming that the invisible barrier truly existed.

Satisfied, Lady Une casually tossed the pointer aside, removed her glasses, loosened her neatly tied-up hair, and sat down on the nearby sofa. She crossed one leg over the other, switching sides several times.

Tolle noticed that she wasn't frightened at all—she was even trying to seduce him. Hmph, does she really think I've never seen a woman before? Am I the kind of guy who loses his mind just because of a woman?

Well, whatever. I'm bored anyway. I'll just play along and see how she reacts. Yeah, that's it.

Lady Une smiled gently at him.

"So, what brings you here? Don't tell me you came just to show off your fancy high-tech gear?"

Tolle gave her a lopsided grin, full of devilish charm, and slowly sat down beside her. Hooking an arm around her shoulders and squeezing lightly, he said,

"You really don't know why I came? Do you need to ask?"

When Tolle first touched her, a flicker of anger flashed across Lady Une's face—but it vanished within a fraction of a second, replaced by her usual calm smile.

She lightly squeezed his hand, feeling the smooth, energy-like texture of the defensive field over his skin.

Then, swaying her hips, she walked over to the refrigerator in a graceful catwalk and took out some ice cubes, two glasses, and a bottle of whiskey.

She gave the bottle a little shake toward him. "Whiskey?"

Tolle nodded. The more he looked at her, the more impressive she seemed. No wonder she was Treize's right hand—her composure alone was extraordinary, and her competence was undeniable. It actually made him admire her a little.

And Lady Une herself—glasses on, she was a stern, forceful military woman; glasses off, she became a gentle, graceful lady. A dangerous double-edged beauty.

She handed him a glass and took a sip from her own before asking,

"Aren't you afraid I might have poisoned it? You drank it without hesitation."

Tolle swirled the ice in his glass and flashed that same wicked grin.

"You wouldn't be that stupid. Besides, even if you did, it wouldn't matter."

He commanded his nano-armor to morph into different outfits, then reshaped his outer appearance into a perfect copy of Lady Une. Sitting cross-legged on the sofa just like her—switching sides a few times—he mimicked her voice and said,

"See this? My suit's made of nano-armor technology that's hundreds of years ahead of anything in this world. I can transform into anyone I want.

No toxin can harm me. Even if I drink poison, the armor instantly neutralizes it and expels it from my body without a trace."

Seeing that Lady Une's expression didn't change, Tolle stood up, stepped closer, lifted her chin with one hand, and pressed his other hand against the wall beside her—cornering her.

"You must've seen those five Gundams in action, right? You know how thick their armor is. Regular rifles and missiles can't even scratch them.

But my nano-armor is even tougher. Do you believe that?"

For the first time, Lady Une's expression wavered, though her eyes still burned with defiance as she demanded,

"I believe you. But who exactly are you? What is that thing on you? Where does its energy source come from?"

Tolle hadn't expected her to get straight to the point so suddenly. How boring. He'd planned to tease her a bit more. Returning to his normal appearance, he leaned back on the sofa in a relaxed posture.

"I'm just an ordinary traveler. Shouldn't your files already say that? Didn't you even announce on the news that I'm supposedly a member of some colonial resistance group?"

Lady Une looked at him with visible disappointment. After hesitating for a few seconds, she sat down facing him—right on his lap—and smiled sweetly.

"Would you consider joining OZ's Special Forces? If you agree, I'm yours. How about it? Think it over."

Tolle looked into her eyes and suddenly thought that wasn't such a bad offer. But then he remembered how confidently he'd told Ange and the others he was a champion of justice. There was no way he could betray that now, even if it broke his legs.

Without moving, he used the mana he'd extracted from the Dragonstone to lift Lady Une gently and set her beside him.

"Forget the seduction routine. Haven't you seen the five beautiful women by my side? Each one's a stunner.

You want me to join OZ? Not happening. (Unless it comes with free food, housing, and materials.)

I understand Treize's vision—to unify Earth and the colonies through military force, then sacrifice himself as the villain to calm everyone's anger and achieve lasting peace.

But that doesn't benefit me in the slightest. I'm not the kind of guy who does thankless work."

Lady Une's composure finally cracked. She stared at him in shock and demanded,

"How do you know about Lord Treize's plan? He hasn't told anyone but me! Who are you really?"

Seeing her panic, Tolle grinned triumphantly, pulled her into his arms, and whispered in her ear,

"You have your intelligence network—and I have mine.

Nothing escapes the eyes of the organization I belong to."

He then transformed neo DG Cells into various lifelike creatures—cats, dogs, birds, and insects—and let them crawl all over her.

"See? Don't they look real? With these around, there's no information we can't gather."

Lady Une examined the tiny creatures, squeezing and checking them repeatedly, before finally sighing and lying back on the sofa.

"All right. Tell me what you want from me—just say it."

Tolle narrowed his eyes and smiled playfully.

"I'm just a humble world traveler. I'd like to invite you and Treize to join my organization and help me manage it.

Oh, you've probably heard of it—the Sword of Damocles. You remember that battle at the Corsica Robot Arms Factory, right?

If you two join me, I'll give each of you a set of this nano-armor. I'll even make sure you and Treize get to be together—married, if you want. He can stay by your side forever.

Tempting, isn't it? How about leaving OZ and working with me instead?"

Lady Une bit her lip so hard it nearly bled. After all, he had hit her weak spot—her "Saint" side—and the thought of Treize marrying her made her heart tremble.
