Chapter 2 - Left to die

It's the second day of my new life; last night I somehow found a safe place… It was in a small edge in a hill here. God, I wished it was just a horrible nightmare. But, here I am. Thankfully no creature found a small delicious snack. Or in other words me.

"Man… Couldn't they have just given me anything?" I groaned, thankfully my leg healed slightly. My stomach was screaming at me to grab something to eat. I limped to the closest tree. Couldn't I just have that classic 'identify' skill? What if one of these fruits on these bushes is poisonous?

Bright red, in the shape of a banana in my now "old" world. Bah! Whatever! What else could go wrong- Nevermind a lot can, but you only live life once right???

"What the fuck?! *Cough* *Cough* That's so sour…" It tasted exactly like a lime! I guess I'll have to deal with it…. Better than nothing. Not like I can hunt or anything.

That was not worth it, I feel thirsty… At least I'm not that hungry, mainly due to that… The river… Is that way?

Enhanced hearing is sweet, I can hear it from faraway despite being in a completely different direction. In no time I found it, this time there were small rodents and creatures around.

Always been told it was never a good idea... But here I go... As I cupped the clear river water in my hands, it felt really cold. Not a bad type of cold, but a comforting one. That's pretty refreshing! Never doubt a fantasy world at all! Despite the minerals in the water, or the compacted dirt that was clear at the bottom, it tasted so good-- At least how water tasted!

Just with a few swigs of it, I felt better than ever- At least for the day I've been alive here! Haha, now if I could secure a food source here, I'll be set till I can leave! Although I need to secure a weapon or something else...

I can use a stone... They're effective on slimes! As cautious as I could be, and as my bad leg could do, I found a few sturdy rocks. Two had pointed ends, the other blunt-- Can use the sharp ones for hunting. Wait can demi-humans eat raw meat?

That question never popped in my hand as I found these. Bah, whatever. Those banana fruit things seem safe to eat; just don't mind the sourness, right? I gathered my haul of weaponry and went back into the forest. A now, ghastly silence, bad premonition as many might say.

"So in this forest, there are just regular critters..." With my free hand I raised my pointer finger. "Slimes are another, that thing they spew out hurts like all hell and poisons! That's unfair! Hah! Keep your mind focused... Huh...?" Well isn't that just my luck! A big black furry butt of a creature stood in my way. Just by its disgusting stench, a con of superhuman senses! D- It heard me... Wellllll SHIT! In front of me, a big black bear stood. Its beady eyes and nasty breath screamed at my senses.

Have you ever been so scared? Your legs feel like they're about to give out? I can't move, what the hell am I supposed to do? It was at least six times my size. I wasn't blessed or given special abilities in this new life.

"Brr?" It let out a deep bellow. Its size multiplied as it stood on its hind legs. I'm screwed...I am seriously screwed-! I-I Work legs! C'mon w- It raised its front paw. Just one swipe could kill any man, or woman. What could it do to a now, little girl?

Goodbye, my new life... Before I knew it, I fell to my knees. That unintentionally saved my life, its ginormous paw flew right over my head, smacking a tree- Causing a massive chunk to fly out.

"H-How the hell did it come to this?!" I screamed out in a raspy breath. Before I could even think, I found myself running! Yes! Running! With a big ass black bear behind me! Don't even ask me how I am able to do this! This big bastard is probably toying with me!

This hurts like utter hell! I can barely run! My leg is giving me dead weight, every step feels like it's going to fall off... C'mon keep running... Don't stop listening to the slobbery hell breath behind you-!

There! HAHA! YEAH! RUN YOU BIG... I tried, I tried to hide behind a tree to keep this big bastard's attention away from me... Nope.... It stopped, ready again to cut me into many small pieces.

I should've figured a bear this big must have incredible senses, afterall it surely wasn't born massive!!

"Welcome, and goodbye to a new me." I cried to myself. Fully ready to die, I closed my eyes. Even if I could, this big bastard will still chase me. Maybe in my next life, I could be in a better position. Does it really take this long? What's with that sound of fighting? Did I really get-

"GYA!" A loud screeching sound entered my ears, and seven green small creatures with crude weapons were fighting that big guy. Crude arrows pestered its furry coat. At a glance, I could tell what they were.

Goblins, a staple of fantasy creatures. Unskilled, unintelligent, but dangerous in groups. But this time, they were different. They seemed too coordinated. In the next few moments, they managed to skewer that sucker into a row of wooden spikes! Woohooo! Go- Should I really be cheering them on?

Should I really be sticking around here? Probably shouldn't… Who knows what they'd do once I was spotted. And just as I tried to take my chance, one of the goblins, one that had a bow spotted me.

"GRA!!" It roared, throwing its bow and pulling out whatever it tried to make. Well, too late for that now huh.

Is this gonna be my life now?! From a god damned bear, now an angry little child thing! Yep, I think this is my life now! It may not have been as fast? But I can't feel my legs anymore... I can barely lift my dead leg.

Never in my life, or well. Lives, did I expect to be running for my life.

"GRAAAF!!" Another roar came out, and before I knew it, I fell flat on my face. An intense searing came from my feet. It felt as if something had lobbed it off. I tried, I tried to get up, I couldn't muster any strength to my legs.

I could only hear sadistic laughter. High pitched, sounding like an absolute demon. Then, only my heartbeat, Claws dug into my side, I couldn't let out a pained cry. Then, the face of my chaser appeared in my vision. Crooked nose, warts covering its face. An ugly musky stench exerted out of its mouth, that smile deformed itself into a smile.

"Keha!"

What is it going to do to me...? Is it going to be like those novels? Those series...? Body move... You need to... That... Get off me! Don't! NO! You have to move! You have...

An intense pain welled in my stomach, this creature's dagger sunk deep into my stomach. I managed to grit my teeth despite it. I have to stop it, I'm going to die if I can't. You need to move body! YOU NEED TO! I kept repeating this in my mind. Only when I saw it rear its disgusting hand to stab me again I shot my hand forth.

TAKE THIS! With all that I could, I wriggled its weapon out of its hand. I plunged it so many times into its body, I can't count how many times. But I awoke out of my stupor, covered and drenched in dark green blood.

"I have to..."

"I have to get..."

"Get out of here...

"Push through it-"

"..."

"..."

"Sss... That... It did a number on me..." My stomach hurts so bad. The ragged clothes on my body were drenched in a thick layer of blood. I don't know how I managed to get to this spot. Nevermind... I can see it, there's a trail. Great.... I can't disinfect this, I can't do anything about it.

It's seeping so bad, My hand.. It's already covered. I'm sorry if there was a previous owner of this body, I'm going to have to bandage this somehow. This is going to suck...

"FF... Keep quiet... Push through it..." Despite the immense agony, I tied a torn piece off my clothes. Worst part, the intense heat followed with pain coming from my stomach. "Ha...Ha...."

I can't get up. My feet look absolutely torn up, this pain is too much. I can try to crawl away, just to avoid getting tracked by those goblins. And... It looks like my thoughts are cursed. Another goblin spotted the blood trail. It lowered its scrawny body down, sniffing it. Was it a dog?

I watched helplessly as it looked at its fallen comrade, then slowly turned its head to me.

Do I have enough strength...? My body won't listen… I'm trying- I'm trying to move. It hurts… My body won't listen… I can't see that goblin anymore… I…

I'm starting to fade out… I can't see, I can't hear anything… …

Did I die again? I'm in that same black void… I can see that I have my old body, just transparent. There was no way I could move around, I just floated here. Isn't this just limbo? I doubt my "new" body survived that.

It felt like I was here for an eternity already. Days? Hours? Heck, I couldn't tell ya, my mind is pretty much a diary now. Just random thoughts, anything really. Is this what insanity felt like? Or the start?

Hm? This weird suction again? Is it already time for me to be reborn? Time to find out!

"AGH! Nope, nope… I wasn't reborn, or reincarnated! God! That hurts!" I cried out in anguish. Within just mere nanoseconds realization struck me, and my body. I must have just passed out from the pain. "God! Should I count myself lucky? Or unlucky?"

"I guess that goblin didn't… Find me?" It looks like I was out for a long time… The sky's dark. There's two moons in the sky, I thought fantasy worlds were great. Haha… I guess not. I'm so tired, I feel like I'm on fire. I'll just… Rest my eyes. If I die, again. I hope it's somehow better than this.

"..."

"...Goblin."

"Wh… Killed it."

"Clue."

Is that someone talking? I can barely hear them. Is it a good idea for me to go to them…? It's worth a shot… Force yourself, listen to me body, you need to get up-!

I have to use the trees around me for support, my feet are into too much pain to move properly. That goblin corpse is missing… Did they take it? Seeing the dried, green pool of blood with nothing in it made my heart race. I don't know if I killed it.

"Hey- Do we have to kill?"

The voices are getting closer!

"I have no idea."

"Ah, well then."

"You're asking me what we're doing, right? The boss told you what we're supposed to do. How about you tell me?"

Two grown men, they don't seem too far. Well… Far enough for me right now. What are they even talking about…?

"We're searching for that little girl, remember? You know, that wolfkin?" One said. Could they be talking about my current body? Nevermind, they are. I stopped in my tracks, if they were looking for me, were they- So my guess might've been true…

"Wolfk- You mean that black haired girl? Wasn't she too hurt, and was bound to die?"

Eh? I must be assuming things. There could be another. Uh, black haired wolfkin… G-Girl… WHY?! I wanted to scream my head off! FOR F- Thanks for the reminder you two guys! Paired with the pain from my stomach, and a creeping feeling crawling over my arms, that was not a good idea!

I tucked myself between a few trees. These guys- As soon as my thoughts ran through a few scenarios, I heard… Something I never wanted to hear again. It sounded like ragged breathing. Such slow breathing… It sped up, and a stench. A familiar stench attacked my nose.

"God damn it!" I screamed! Is it due to my SHIT LUCK?! Before I knew it again, I was face down on the ground! Are goblins this intelligent in this world?!

"Did you hear that?!"

"That must be her! Let's go!"

"GOD- AAGH?!" I'm going to die! I can't- Why-

"Keka, gahaha…"

"....."

"Please! N-No! Leave me alone!"

No, no, no! S-Stay away!
