Chapter 15 - What Must Come, Will Come

Aboli was now sitting in the room on the top floor of Silver Mansion. The people who once owned this place had long since been driven away, and at present, Aboli had directly taken it over.

She leaned leisurely against the chair, several corpses lying on the ground beneath her, still bleeding ceaselessly.

She didn't feel there was anything wrong with her actions. On the contrary, she was relatively relaxed as she gazed at the tablet.

Inside, it was divided into countless squares, each screen currently broadcasting a different feed—this was clearly the camera network of Silver Mansion.

Through this, Aboli saw the young man she had been "longing for day and night" making his way toward the control center of Silver Mansion, while those foolish people were frantically searching for ways to deal with her. That place, for now, was empty.

At that moment, as though sensing something, the young man suddenly turned around, his eyes locking precisely onto the camera. For an instant, Aboli felt as if they were staring directly at one another!

Aboli's heart trembled, her eyes quivering with excitement.

Mother... mother is so beautiful. It's fine even if you're not obedient—Aboli would bring her back, and she would definitely make her obedient.

At the very least, right now, she felt Louis truly was an interesting mother.

What was he planning? Was this his entire scheme from the beginning?

Aboli knew precisely what was in the control room, and she was more than happy to watch a massacre unfold. Everything in her eyes was an eyesore anyway, and those people dying would not affect her.

But why would Louis take such a risk? He could clearly leave without bothering about anyone else.

As expected of a mother—a perfect mother, a heart embracing the whole world, flawless to this extent!

Crack!

The tablet screen suddenly shattered. Aboli stood up—she felt she could meet her mother now.

If Louis knew what Aboli was thinking, he would surely be bawling in grievance.

His heart did not embrace the world; he didn't want to leave any loose ends behind. Who knew when the smoke and fire would erupt? For now, the means to pick him up hadn't arrived yet, so he had to do everything possible to ensure his own survival.

Besides, Aboli liked "interesting mothers." The more interesting they were, the longer they would survive. To guard against falling into Aboli's hands again, Louis needed to make himself appear as unpredictable as possible—this way, if he was caught, his life might be spared.

Sigh... Louis was honestly tearing his hair out just trying to stay alive.

With a calm demeanor, he walked steadily forward, heading straight for the control center.

At this moment, it wasn't easy to see any guards along the way—but that didn't mean all of them had been sent away.

"Stop! This area is off-limits. Please leave immediately!"

A booming voice rang out. A guard in tactical gear glared coldly at Louis, ordering him to halt.

Louis raised an eyebrow at him, then said slowly:

"Serial number B0013, member of Combat Unit 04, directly under Zone 6."

Hearing this, the guard's eyes widened. He looked at Louis hesitantly, yet full of vigilance.

Just who was this man, to know his true identity?!

But Louis wasn't finished. He continued:

"You're here on assignment to investigate a dangerous entity marked S01. And right now, your teammates' speed is disappointing to the higher-ups."

The guard—no, more accurately, the undercover police officer—couldn't help but widen his eyes and shout:

 "Just who are you?!"

Louis took out his phone, the screen flashing with his identification. He quickly said:

 "Serial number A00001."

He only showed the phone screen briefly before pulling it back just as quickly. The display was even covered in countless cracks, making it impossible for the officer to see anything clearly. But Louis's serial number alone was enough to prove his status was far above anyone else.

Moreover, Louis had been able to recite his information with absolute precision—the officer had already formed a judgment in his heart.

With a respectful look, he asked:

"Then, sir, have you found any leads on S01 yet?"

This drug, capable of mutating humans and granting them terrifying power, had left a trail that led them to Silver Mansion. Yet they still hadn't found its true origin even after many days.

Louis spoke with an expression devoid of emotion:

"From now on, all of you will simply follow my directives."

That meant he did have a lead.

Respect shone across the officer's face, his posture shifting to absolute readiness to obey.

"According to the information I've obtained," Louis said slowly, "troublemakers are planning to release this toxin, plunging all of Silver Mansion into chaos."

Hearing this, the officer's eyes went wide in fury:

"If that really happens, it won't just be simple chaos! Who could be so vicious?!"

"This world has too many people who commit evil without any reason. First, we must seize the opportunity created by Silver Mansion's chaos to eliminate this possibility."

Louis's words carried a calmness, an absolute certainty in victory that deepened the officer's trust even further.

With his help, they quickly entered the control center.

The control center of Silver Mansion—or more precisely, the large room on the second floor used for Silver Mansion's business negotiations.

Standing at Louis's side, the officer couldn't help his doubtful expression. Finally, he blurted out:

"We've searched every place, looking for somewhere S01 could be hidden, but we found nothing..."

He couldn't even finish his sentence. His eyes widened as Louis strode straight toward the massive bookshelf and casually pulled out a book.

Opening the first page, Louis blew lightly upon it—at once, a cloud of bright crimson powder drifted into the air, floating and swirling faintly.

The officer's eyes bulged, utterly unprepared for such a possibility.

The bookshelf stood apart, without any hidden mechanisms connected to it. None of them had imagined that the dangerous powder could be layered thinly within each book page.

With hesitation, the officer asked:

 "Every page... has it?"

"Most likely." Louis closed the book and set it back on the shelf, his eyes solemn.

The officer grew even more uneasy. If every page contained the drug, then if the entire stash were released... just picturing everyone in Silver Mansion turning into monsters made him shudder uncontrollably!

Louis was also deep in thought. In the original novel, a fire in the control room plunged Silver Mansion into a haze of toxic smoke. That incident had brought tremendous losses to the nobility, offending nearly half of them, and it also marked the beginning of Aboli and the Demonic Twins being placed on the wanted list.

After all, Aboli always acted high-profile—wherever she went, she had to seize the most comfortable seat to be satisfied. And as for the Demonic Twins, who had been in a coma all along, they had suddenly awakened at the same time the poisonous smoke disaster broke out. As a result, they were saddled with charges alongside Aboli and placed under a wanted order.

As long as the fire didn't spread to these books, it would be fine.

Louis glared at the pile of books, truly wishing he could dig a hole and bury them all.

After this incident, the entire aristocracy of this planet owed him a thank-you!

"Call your teammates back. Handle these books as soon as possible. The situation is growing more chaotic by the minute," Louis ordered the officer.

The officer seemed to have only been waiting for Louis's command. He quickly contacted his comrades.

Watching him leave, Louis slipped away, heading straight up to the rooftop.

He had done this much already—if those police still let Silver Mansion fall into ruin, he couldn't be blamed. It was simply their incompetence.

Strong winds whipped across Louis's face. The sky had suddenly grown dark, black clouds gathering, as if a great storm were about to break.

Narrowing his eyes, Louis spotted a graceful white figure, her dress fluttering beside the rooftop railing. He went momentarily numb in thought.

What must come, will come.

"Mother, you seem to be having lots of fun without me, hm?"

Aboli turned, tilting her head at Louis, her voice soft.

Louis: "..." Ha, I'd be much happier if you jumped down from here right now.

...Though with Aboli's body, a fall from the third floor wouldn't kill her.

Monster, Louis cursed inwardly.
