I looked around the place. There were four rooms lined up along the sides of the hallway. On the table in the hall there was an ornate ceramic vase, and on the walls there were huge oil paintings. I had never seen anything like this in the lower district before. Everything here resembled the houses of the middle district. It was obvious this place wasn't designed to be an orphanage. And surely it didn't look like a gang's headquarters either, but rather the house of a gang leader who loves to splurge.
Marco was dragging young Jevan from room to room excitedly.
"This is the boys' bedroom. That one's the girls' room, that's the study room, and that's the storage."
He led him up the long staircase to the second floor.
"This is Yara's bedroom."
"And where does that man Valeric sleep?"
"He sleeps in the hall on the couch."
He dragged him again, went back down to the ground floor, then stopped in front of the boys' room door and pushed it open.
