Chapter 99 - Chapter 99: Half a Year!

Time passed swiftly.

Half a year later—

"Sigh~"

Inside his dorm at Shrek Academy, Zhu Ziyang slowly opened his eyes and let out a long breath.

"If only I had broken through yesterday... then I'd be an eleven-year-old Soul Ancestor. What a pity!"

Although he complained, the joy on his face betrayed his true feelings. His handsome, youthful features were lit up with happiness, excitement, and anticipation. The mood in the air around him seemed to brighten with his delight.

"You little brat, talking like that is bound to make people hate you! Hahaha!" Electrolux's hearty laughter rang out in his mind.

"Really? I was just being honest," Zhu Ziyang replied innocently. "If I hadn't spent the last six months barely cultivating soul power, I would've become a Soul Ancestor long ago."

"That's true," Electrolux admitted with a nod of agreement.

Over the past six months, Zhu Ziyang had led a packed and fulfilling life. Every day was scheduled to the brim, and he only had one day of rest each month.

During the day, he trained under Mu En in Monarch Over The World and in dragon-type martial soul combat techniques. At night, he studied death power and undead magic under Electrolux. As a result, he barely had time to cultivate soul power. It had taken him six months to reach Rank 39, and only after using a Soul Ascension Pill did he break through to Rank 40.

The academy had rewarded them with three Soul Ascension Pills, each specially refined. Their effectiveness far surpassed any commercially available variant — something clearly proven when Zhu Ziyang's soul power jumped directly from Rank 39 to Rank 40.

Now that he had reached the threshold of Soul Ancestor, Zhu Ziyang was overjoyed. He leapt from his bed, humming a tune as he went to wash up. By the time he returned, he had already calmed his emotions. As a proper genius, Zhu Ziyang understood the importance of not being elated by success or discouraged by setbacks. Emotional balance was key.

After leaving his dorm and arriving at the academy gate, he found that Mu En wasn't there. Unbothered, he simply took out a book and began reading while waiting for Jiang Nannan.

"Body Martial Souls are the most unique among all known martial souls. Compared to traditional tool and beast martial souls, body martial souls are extremely rare. And the rarer they are, the greater their potential. Ever since our sect introduced the concept of body martial souls, the strength of body martial soul users has been evident across the continent."

"Compared to traditional martial souls, body martial souls are more reliable. Unlike tool martial soul users, body martial soul users are naturally in harmony with their martial soul — achieving a unity of soul and body. Compared to beast martial soul users, their physiques are inherently tempered. Thus, at equal levels, body martial soul users typically have superior combat power."

"Body martial souls possess a unique trait not found in traditional martial souls — secondary awakening. This is different from the evolution of traditional martial souls. A secondary awakening develops the body itself, not just the martial soul. Traditional evolution only affects the martial soul with little enhancement to the soul master's body. But secondary awakening of a body martial soul enhances both the soul and the body."

"Our sect categorizes secondary awakenings into Bronze and Silver levels. A Silver-level body martial soul can rival Super Martial Souls. The method for achieving this is a closely guarded secret and not recorded in this book. It's said that once a Silver-awakened body martial soul reaches Title Douluo, it undergoes a third awakening — the Golden Awakening. Golden-level martial souls are said to be on par with legendary God-bestowed martial souls."

"In short, the mystery of body martial souls is like the vast starry sky, filled with untapped treasures and infinite potential. As our founder, the first Body Douluo, once said: 'Body martial souls are a gift from the heavens!'..."

The book Zhu Ziyang was reading was titled A Brief Overview of Body Martial Souls. It had been written three thousand years ago by a powerful member of the Body Sect, intended to help disciples quickly understand the sect and its unique cultivation path.

The reason Zhu Ziyang had suddenly become interested in the Body Sect was entirely due to Mu En and Yan Shaozhe.

First, there was Mu En's condition. His waist had suffered a serious injury, preventing him from standing upright. That was why he always lounged in his wooden chair. According to Yan Shaozhe, Mu En sustained the injury during a battle with the previous Body Sect master — the Body Douluo, Du Bisi. At the time, both were Rank 98 Super Douluo, evenly matched. Though Du Bisi was mortally wounded and died soon after, Mu En suffered a crippling back injury. While he later broke through to Rank 99, he could never stand straight again.

Second was the sheer strength of the Body Sect. It was one of only two human factions on the Douluo Continent that could rival Shrek Academy. The sect boasted at least ten Title Douluo, and thanks to the overwhelming power of body martial souls, even high-level Soul Douluo could contend with ordinary Title Douluo. Their terrifying strength couldn't be ignored by any nation or force. More impressively, the Body Sect had built all this power on its own — unlike the Sun Moon Empire's Mingde Hall, which had the full support of an empire. The Body Sect's self-made strength made it even more fearsome.

Third, Zhu Ziyang was simply curious. Mu En had once briefly mentioned a method to cultivate life force. Although Zhu Ziyang didn't personally need it, the idea piqued his interest. After all, even Shrek Academy hadn't developed such a method, yet the relatively younger Body Sect had. That mystery was worth exploring.

Unfortunately, he quickly discovered that there were very few written records about the Body Sect — even fewer with meaningful content. Most outsiders only knew about their martial souls and their strength; everything else was a complete mystery. It was clear the sect was extremely secretive.

Apparently, the Body Sect also had no habit of keeping written records. That little Brief Overview of Body Martial Souls was the thickest book he could find — and it was only ten pages long!

"Ziyang." Beibei approached and called out. He was accompanied by Xu Sanshi. Although they were now in different classes, they still shared the same dorm room.

"Good morning," Xu Sanshi greeted with a smile. "The banquet the night before last was amazing!"

He was referring to Zhu Ziyang's birthday banquet. Turning twelve marked a major milestone, and Zhu Changhe and his wife had written to remind him of its importance. Half a month ago, Zhu Changhe had even personally visited Shrek Academy to deliver a birthday gift — clothes hand-sewn by Liang Ying — before hurrying away again, as if there were pressing matters back home. This had left Zhu Ziyang a little puzzled.

Mu En also remembered the occasion and instructed Yan Shaozhe to make proper arrangements. Yan Shaozhe, Xian Lin'er, Qian Duoduo, and Cai Mei'er pooled resources to host a grand celebration in Shrek City.

Zhu Ziyang had invited all the students and teachers from Class One. Xu Sanshi, who was chasing Xue Weiwei, shamelessly tagged along for a free meal.

"As long as you liked it," Zhu Ziyang said with a smile.

After Beibei reached the Soul Elder rank, Xu Sanshi had also made a breakthrough. The two had a celebratory spar — which Xu Sanshi lost, though he still managed to show off his talent and potential. Beibei had reached Rank 34, while Xu Sanshi sat at Rank 33.

Soon after, Jiang Nannan and Tang Ya arrived.

"Brother~" Jiang Nannan smiled sweetly and took Zhu Ziyang's arm.

Tang Ya followed her lead and wrapped herself around Beibei's arm. Only Xu Sanshi was left staring blankly at the four of them with a dark expression, silently sulking.

The group of four set off, while Xu Sanshi remained at the gate, waiting for Xue Weiwei.

Over the past half-year, Jiang Nannan's soul power had reached Rank 35 — a result of her intentional suppression, following Elder Song's advice to fully solidify her martial soul before focusing on cultivation. Now that phase was nearly complete, she could finally begin focusing on improving her soul power.

Tang Ya had also reached Rank 28. The Wood Spirit Pill and Profound Water Pill had helped her tremendously. Combined with her natural diligence, she was now only behind a handful of Soul Elders among the first-year students.
