Inside the Soul Arena, Zhu Ziyang and Beibei stood face to face.
"First-year Class One's Beibei challenges First-year Class One's Zhu Ziyang. The match begins!" With a firm command, the referee quickly exited the arena.
Both Zhu Ziyang and Beibei activated their martial souls at the same time. Zhu Ziyang extended his right hand, and the Stillness Fate Ending Scythe appeared in his grasp. One yellow and two purple soul rings floated around him, stirring awe and admiration among the spectators.
Beibei also released his martial soul. His body grew taller, and his right arm, from the shoulder down to the hand, rapidly expanded into a thick, muscular dragon claw. Blue-purple dragon scales crackled with arcs of lightning, and a wild aura surged around him.
Dragonification — a hallmark of top-tier Dragon-type martial souls. Compared to the first soul skill Thunder Dragon Claw, the boost from dragonification was unquestionably stronger. Just the power increase alone was incomparable.
Floating behind Beibei were two yellow and one purple soul rings. His eyes were burning with fighting spirit as he shouted, "Ziyang, take this!"
As soon as his words fell, his third soul ring lit up. He had no intention of holding back. Beibei understood all too well that against Zhu Ziyang, his only chance was a quick and decisive strike at full strength. With the third soul skill activated, arcs of blue-purple lightning enveloped his body, and his dragonified right arm swelled even further with explosive power.
Third Soul Skill: Thunder's Wrath!
Once activated, Beibei's lightning attributes were greatly enhanced. His soul power attacks grew stronger, and the effects of his lightning element were significantly amplified. This powerful buff-type soul skill came from a 2,000-year sub-dragon soul beast — the Thunder Dragon Crocodile.
Under the boost of his third soul skill, Beibei charged at Zhu Ziyang at full speed, simultaneously activating his first soul skill.
Facing Beibei's overwhelming onslaught, Zhu Ziyang smiled faintly. His second and third soul rings lit up together, and the Stillness Fate Ending Scythe erupted in dazzling golden brilliance. With both soul skills active, Zhu Ziyang's condition soared, and he dashed directly toward Beibei.
The massive blue dragon claw collided with the golden scythe in an explosive shockwave. Sparks flew at the point of impact, scattering across the floor.
The scythe clearly held the advantage. With a simple push, it forced the giant claw back several steps. Zhu Ziyang seized the momentum and pressed harder. Beibei struggled to hold his ground, but his feet gouged cracks into the arena floor under the immense force.
Frowning, Beibei realized things couldn't continue this way. He gathered all his remaining strength and abruptly flung the scythe away. The Stillness Fate Ending Scythe spun uncontrollably into the air. Zhu Ziyang's expression darkened slightly. With a flick of his wrist, he reasserted control over the scythe, leveling it with his shoulder.
Then, without hesitation, he spun his waist, swinging the scythe in a sweeping arc. The long shaft and gleaming blade slammed into Beibei.
Having just dislodged the scythe, Beibei had subconsciously let his guard down. Only when the golden blade appeared in the corner of his eye did his expression change. He tried to block — but it was already too late.
The Stillness Fate Ending Scythe struck Beibei and sent him flying over ten meters before he crashed to the ground. His face turned pale. Though he wasn't injured, the outcome was clear — he had lost once again.
"You alright?" Zhu Ziyang retracted his martial soul, his confidence and strength evident without the need for words. He walked up and extended a hand.
"I'm fine." Beibei also withdrew his martial soul, his handsome face displaying a bitter smile. Grasping Zhu Ziyang's hand, he said, "Looks like I still have a lot of catching up to do."
Zhu Ziyang helped him to his feet with a smile, saying nothing more.
The victor was obvious. The referee didn't even need to announce it. The first-year spectators erupted in cheers. Meanwhile, students from the second and third years looked at one another in disbelief. Were this year's freshmen really this monstrous?

Sea God Pavilion
Three days after his duel, Zhu Ziyang followed Mu En's instructions and made his way to the Sea God Pavilion.
"Teacher, I've arrived." He called out from outside.
"Come in," Mu En's voice responded. The door opened.
Zhu Ziyang stepped inside calmly. At the far end of the long table, Mu En lay back leisurely. Upon seeing Zhu Ziyang enter, the old man's face lit up with a pleased smile.
"Good, good! Seems like those three days of rest served you well," Mu En said as he examined Zhu Ziyang. Satisfied, he continued, "Balance is key. Tension and relaxation must coexist — that's the path to lasting growth."
"You flatter me, Teacher," Zhu Ziyang replied with a courteous smile.
"No need to be modest." Mu En waved a hand, then said seriously, "Your spiritual power has reached the tangible-yet-formless realm even faster than I anticipated. Very good. That means I can now teach you my ultimate technique."
"Your ultimate technique?!" Zhu Ziyang's eyes lit up. He'd heard from Yan Shaozhe that Mu En had three ultimate techniques: Monarch Over the World, Dragon Sovereign Piercing Light, and Dragon Sovereign Domain. Among them, Monarch Over the World was the most foundational and most powerful.
"Indeed. I've lived so many years with little to show for it except a few self-created, slightly crude battle techniques. But they're yours to learn — so study them well," Mu En said, humbly yet brimming with pride.
"Yes, Teacher." Zhu Ziyang nodded solemnly.
Mu En's three techniques were built around his Light Holy Dragon Martial Soul. Of the three, the one most relevant to Zhu Ziyang was Monarch Over the World.
Strictly speaking, it wasn't a battle technique or even a soul skill. If it had to be categorized, it would be a cultivation method — a technique for merging spiritual power and soul power, and infusing that spiritual force into physical attacks.
To explain further — in the Douluo Continent, attacks are generally divided into two types. One is physical, which damages the body — the most common, comprising over ninety percent of all soul skills. The other is spiritual, or soul-based, which targets a soul master's mind and spirit. Such skills are rare and typically limited to Spirit-type Soul Masters. A well-known example is Charm.
Mu En's Monarch Over the World technique integrates spiritual power into physical attacks, creating an effect akin to a field. This unique fusion allows the user not only to physically suppress their opponent but to mentally dominate them as well. Once struck by this technique, an opponent's confidence crumbles. Even in future encounters, they'll feel an innate fear — a psychological suppression known as heartbound terror.
Monarch Over the World forms the foundation for Mu En's two other self-created techniques: Dragon Sovereign Domain and Dragon Sovereign Piercing Light. Thus, his first requirement for Zhu Ziyang was to master the fusion of spirit and soul power. Only then could he learn the other two.
However, Dragon Sovereign Domain and Dragon Sovereign Piercing Light were tailored to Dragon-type martial souls — techniques based on the Light Holy Dragon. As such, Yan Shaozhe, with his Bright Phoenix Martial Soul, couldn't cultivate them. Instead, it was Xian Lin'er, with her Azure Flame Dragon Martial Soul, who successfully trained in them and even adapted them to her own style.
Dragon Sovereign Piercing Light is a powerful technique created by Mu En using Monarch Over the World as its foundation. With the Light Holy Dragon as its origin, it wields brilliant light as a blade, capable of annihilating all evil. The skill evolves alongside the user's cultivation.
Dragon Sovereign Domain, also rooted in Monarch Over the World, is a domain-type soul skill. Within its range, all forms of evil are severely weakened. It was created by Mu En specifically to counter Evil Soul Masters.
Although these two techniques are potent, Mu En emphasized that they were secondary to Monarch Over the World. He advised Zhu Ziyang to treat them as references rather than goals. If necessary, he could follow Xian Lin'er's path and adapt them to suit his own martial soul — the Heavenly Frost Holy Dragon — since its ice attribute differs from the light attribute.
"Alright then," Mu En said, a bit tired after teaching the technique but not stopping. "From now on, you'll train in the fusion of spiritual and soul power here on the island."
"I understand, Teacher," Zhu Ziyang responded.
"Good." Mu En chuckled. "Then let's move on to the next item."
