Chapter 72 - Chapter 72: The Elders of Sea God’s Pavilion

Inside the Sea God's Pavilion's main hall.

At this moment, both sides of the long table were fully occupied. Even with his status as the Dean of Shrek Academy, Yan Shaozhe could only sit at the second-to-last position on the left side of the table.

"Shaozhe, why did you suddenly ask Xuanzi to summon us all here?" asked an elderly woman with silver hair and a kind expression. She was seated second from the top on the right side of the table and looked at Yan Shaozhe inquiringly.

"That's right. I still have a ton of work to do," grumbled the elderly lady at the head of the right side. Her hair was as white as a crane's and her complexion looked youthful.

"Elder Lin, Elder Song, please don't be anxious," said Yan Shaozhe helplessly. Though he was the Dean, in front of these seniors who were much older than him, he didn't dare act recklessly. "Teacher should be arriving soon."

"Even Elder Mu is coming?" All those present revealed surprised expressions.

"What could be so important that even Teacher has to be involved?" asked a middle-aged woman sitting directly across from Yan Shaozhe. She was also Mu En's disciple and the Dean of the Soul Tool Department, the Martial God Douluo Xian Lin'er, a 95th-ranked Super Douluo.

"Exactly, Shaozhe, stop being so secretive. Just say it. Don't leave this old man you ordered around in the dark," said Elder Xuan, who sat at the head of the left side of the table, munching on a chicken leg.

"It's actually not a huge matter," said Yan Shaozhe with a smile. "Teacher has accepted a new disciple and wanted all of you elders and his fellow disciples to meet him."

"What?!"

Everyone froze in shock, staring at Yan Shaozhe in disbelief and curiosity.

Who was Mu En? He was the foremost of the current three Limit Douluos, the Dragon God Douluo! The last time he accepted a disciple was nearly a hundred years ago, and those disciples were now all seated here in the Sea God's Pavilion. Even Yan Shaozhe and the two people behind him at the table were all Mu En's disciples.

These elders, though younger than Mu En, were close to him in status, half colleagues, half students. They fully understood what it meant for Mu En to take on another disciple. It would only happen if the person was a true, once-in-a-generation prodigy.

Once the initial shock wore off, anticipation quickly filled the air.

"When did this happen? How come we didn't hear a word of it?" asked a middle-aged man at the far end of the right side. He was the Deputy Dean of the Soul Tool Department, the Black Dragon Douluo Qian Duoduo, a 94th-ranked defensive-type Titled Douluo, and also one of Mu En's disciples. He was married to Xian Lin'er.

"Yeah, we didn't hear anything about Elder Mu leaving the academy recently," added an elder beside Elder Xuan, a grandfatherly man with a kindly smile.

"Shaozhe, are you talking about the first-year student who went to the island with you?" asked Elder Xuan, recalling Zhu Ziyang, who had come with Yan Shaozhe earlier.

"A new student? Could it be that Zhu Ziyang?" asked Cai Mei'er, the Vice Dean of the Martial Soul Department and the Break-Evil Douluo, a 95th-ranked power-type Titled Douluo. She was formerly Mu En's youngest disciple and also Yan Shaozhe's wife. She had been informed by Du Weilun about a new student who had already reached three rings, which made her make the connection.

A new student?! The elders and the deans of both departments were now fully intrigued, their eyes burning with curiosity as they all stared at Yan Shaozhe. The intensity of their gazes made him feel a chill down his spine.

"Yes," Yan Shaozhe nodded quickly and said with a smile, "Zhu Ziyang's martial soul is the Ultimate Light."

"What?!"

"This is incredible news!"

"Haha! Heaven truly blesses Shrek!"

"Ultimate Light… no wonder Elder Mu would take him as a disciple. It's practically fate!"

"Oh my, why didn't you tell us earlier, Shaozhe? We didn't even prepare a welcome gift for our new junior brother!"

The elders reacted with various emotions, but the dominant theme was excitement and joy.

Xian Lin'er and Qian Duoduo were equally excited but also a bit helpless.

They exchanged glances, both seeing the resignation in each other's eyes. Shrek Academy had finally decided to develop its Soul Tool Department. With Mu En's support and their efforts, the department had finally started to gain traction. If they could just get a bit more resources from the Martial Soul Department, they could quickly catch up to the Sun Moon Empire.

But now, a prodigy with an Ultimate Martial Soul had appeared in the Martial Soul Department. Trying to secure more resources from them would be near impossible now.

Just then, a golden light blossomed at the end of the long table, drawing everyone's attention.

Mu En appeared with Zhu Ziyang emerging from the light.

Zhu Ziyang noticed that he had arrived in the hall in the blink of an eye. He was shocked by the speed, and his respect for Mu En deepened.

He also noticed that the long table, which had been empty when he first came, was now filled with people. Counting them, there were eight present. Surprisingly, even Yan Shaozhe, the Martial Soul Department's Dean, was seated near the end. Seated closer to the head of the table were four elders, of whom Zhu Ziyang had only met Elder Xuan.

"Elder Mu!" Everyone greeted Mu En respectfully, while at least seven gazes focused on Zhu Ziyang. Some were curious, some warm, some joyful—each expressing different emotions.

"Hmm. Thank you all for coming," Mu En said with his usual calm expression. "Since Shaozhe has already informed you all, I'll get straight to the point. Ziyang."

Zhu Ziyang stepped forward respectfully when called, bowed to those seated on both sides of the table, and said, "Greetings, esteemed elders. I am Zhu Ziyang, a student of Class Four, Year One. I'm 11 years old and a 37th-ranked power-type Battle Soul Elder. My martial soul is the Stillness Fate Ending Scythe."

He didn't mention that he had twin martial souls, just as Mu En had advised. After all, the fact that he possessed twin Ultimate Martial Souls was too astonishing, and Shrek Academy was not without enemies.

The elders exchanged smiles, nodding at him warmly. Each expression revealed a mix of admiration and approval.

"A fine child," Elder Xuan said first. "I am Xuanzi. You may call me Elder Xuan. If you need anything in the academy, feel free to come find me."

"Elder Xuan is one of the Vice Pavilion Masters of the Sea God's Pavilion. He's a 98th-ranked Super Douluo with the title 'Glutton'," explained Yan Shaozhe.

"Greetings, Elder Xuan," Zhu Ziyang said politely.

"I am Lin Huiqun. You may call me Elder Lin," said the kind old lady across from Elder Xuan. She examined Zhu Ziyang fondly before producing a red and gold-speckled jade ring with a flash of light. "Young one, take this Soul Tool ring as a welcome gift."

"Elder Lin is also a Vice Pavilion Master of the Sea God's Pavilion, a 98th-ranked Super Douluo with the title 'Celestial River'," added Yan Shaozhe.

"Greetings, Elder Lin." Zhu Ziyang turned to Mu En for confirmation before accepting the ring. Mu En nodded, so he accepted it gratefully. "Thank you, Elder Lin."

"Hehehe," Elder Lin laughed joyfully.

"I'm Zhuang Qingzhai. Everyone just calls me Elder Zhuang," said the elder beside Elder Xuan. He produced a small porcelain bottle and gently floated it to Zhu Ziyang. "Take this Hundred Heal Pill."

"Elder Zhuang is one of the only two healing-type Titled Douluo on the continent. His martial soul is the Tree of Life, and his title is 'Life'," Yan Shaozhe explained.

"Thank you, Elder Zhuang," said Zhu Ziyang. He caught the small bottle and, though he didn't know the exact effects of the Hundred Heal Pill, he knew it must be something extraordinary.

"I am Song Lan. You may call me Elder Song," said the old lady next to Elder Lin. "I didn't bring anything special today, so take this left arm bone of a Storm Ghost Harrier."

Elder Song casually produced a soul bone. The pale blue glow and fierce wind aura stunned Zhu Ziyang—was it really that casual to give soul bones? This was his third one today!

He instinctively reached out and accepted it, feeling a pleasant breeze curling around his hand.

"Thank you, Elder Song," he said sincerely.

"Elder Song is the continent's top agility-type Soul Master, a 97th-ranked Super Douluo titled 'Divine Hawk'," Yan Shaozhe added at the right time.

Xuan, Lin, Zhuang, and Song were just the most prominent among the Pavilion's elders—not the only ones. In truth, the Sea God's Pavilion had over a dozen elders, and every one of them was a Titled Douluo. This alone showed the terrifying foundation of Shrek Academy.
