Chapter 6 - Chapter 6: Twin Martial Souls and First Cultivation (Part 1)

Zhu Residence, living room.

After a busy day, Zhu Changhe and Liang Ying were finally able to enjoy a quiet moment. The couple lay side by side on the lounge chairs, holding each other and basking in this rare peace.

However, Zhu Ziyang clearly had no intention of letting them enjoy it for long. He walked into the living room and stopped before them, his expression a little strange.

"Yangyang, what's wrong? Are you hungry? Mommy will go cook right now, just wait a moment." Liang Ying immediately sat up from her husband's arms and asked gently.

Zhu Changhe also looked at him with concern. The couple had always been proud of Zhu Ziyang's intelligence. Now that he had awakened his Martial Soul and possessed innate full soul power, their pride and satisfaction had only grown stronger.

Zhu Ziyang stopped Liang Ying from getting up and said with a trace of excitement in his voice, "I'm not hungry. I came to tell you something."

"Oh? What is it?" Zhu Changhe picked up on the excitement in his tone and couldn't help but grow curious.

"Yes, Yangyang, what is it?" Liang Ying also looked at him, intrigued.

"I have another Martial Soul," Zhu Ziyang said calmly, as if he were talking about someone else's business.

His casual tone clearly affected Liang Ying. She didn't fully process what he had just said—nor did she notice her husband suddenly freeze behind her. She spoke offhandedly, "Oh, I thought it was something serious. It's just… wait, what? Zhu Changhe! What are you doing?"

Before she could finish, Zhu Changhe had suddenly jumped up and rushed to Zhu Ziyang's side, bumping into her. She was bewildered and slightly annoyed.

But no one had time to worry about her mood right now. Zhu Changhe's eyes were blazing as he stared at Zhu Ziyang, his face a mix of shock and excitement. His voice came out hoarse:

"You said you have another Martial Soul? You mean—you have two Martial Souls?"

Zhu Ziyang wasn't surprised by his father's reaction. His expression remained calm. Without saying a word, he extended both hands and silently activated his soul.

In an instant, a chilling aura swept through the room. Frost-white scales coated Zhu Ziyang's soft, fair hands, and his bright eyes transformed into vertical dragon pupils.

His second Martial Soul—Frost Tyrant Dragon!

The Frost Tyrant Dragon, also known as the Arctic Tyrant Dragon, was a genuine sub-dragon-type soul beast. It belonged to the earth dragon lineage and possessed a powerful physique along with mastery over ice. It was one of the strongest dragon-type soul beasts in the Extreme North Icefield and a symbolic Martial Soul of the northern lands.

"This is…" Zhu Changhe's pupils contracted sharply, and then his face lit up with indescribable joy. His voice rose from a whisper to a shout.

"My son has twin Martial Souls! My son has twin Martial Souls! My son…"

"Ahhhh! Yangyang! You really have twin Martial Souls!" Liang Ying finally processed what was happening. She threw herself at her son, pulling him into a tight hug, her beautiful face glowing with excitement as she shouted over and over again.

Watching his parents lose all composure, Zhu Ziyang could only wait patiently for them to calm down.

It took a while, but eventually the couple settled down.

"Honey, Yangyang really has twin Martial Souls, right?"

"Yes!"

"And he has innate full soul power, right?"

"Absolutely!"

"Our son is a super genius!"

Their conversation was oddly calm, like they'd entered a post-excitement state of serene acceptance.

"Come, Yangyang. Let Daddy take a closer look at your second Martial Soul," Zhu Changhe said at last, more composed than his wife. He gently pulled Zhu Ziyang forward and examined the scales on his arms carefully.

"This is great. Yangyang's second Martial Soul looks just like my Snow Dragon Lizard," Liang Ying chimed in with a silly smile on her face. "Hehe, this is wonderful. Now I don't have any regrets anymore!"

"No, that's not right. I don't think Yangyang's Martial Soul is the Snow Dragon Lizard," Zhu Changhe said, immediately cutting off her giggles.

"What are you talking about?" Liang Ying looked at him, confused.

"Come on, don't look at me like that. I'm serious! The scales on Yangyang's Martial Soul are bigger, the color is lighter, and the temperature is even lower than those on the Snow Dragon Lizard. I'm not sure exactly what his Martial Soul is, but I'm certain it's not the Snow Dragon Lizard!" Zhu Changhe chuckled helplessly and pointed at their son. "If you don't believe me, just release your Martial Soul and compare it yourself!"

"Alright…" Liang Ying hesitated, but then extended her hand. A layer of fine scales appeared on the back of her hand. When they compared her scales to Zhu Ziyang's, the difference was immediately obvious—they were clearly two different Martial Souls.

Stunned, Liang Ying turned to her son and asked, "Yangyang, what is this Martial Soul of yours? Why isn't it the same as Mommy's Snow Dragon Lizard?"

Zhu Ziyang replied with a hint of pride, "Of course it's different. This Martial Soul is the Frost Tyrant Dragon!"

"Frost Tyrant Dragon?!" the couple shouted in unison. As native northerners, they were well aware of how powerful that soul beast was, which only made them more thrilled.

"That's right." Zhu Ziyang beamed, understanding how his parents felt.

"Honey, why would our son have a Frost Tyrant Dragon Martial Soul?" Liang Ying asked once her excitement subsided. This was the key question—and one Zhu Changhe was also pondering.

After a moment of thought, Zhu Changhe said, "I think it's due to Martial Soul mutation. Your Snow Dragon Lizard is a dragon-type Martial Soul, and dragon-type souls do have a chance of mutating into stronger variants."

Zhu Ziyang nodded continuously beside him. Despite the limited books and knowledge Zhu Changhe had access to, his reasoning was logical and well-grounded. Zhu Ziyang agreed with it wholeheartedly.

"So you're saying Yangyang's Martial Soul mutated? Then… are there any side effects?" Liang Ying asked nervously.

"You don't need to worry about that," Zhu Changhe replied with a smile. "Yangyang's second Martial Soul has a very stable aura. It's a perfectly positive mutation. In fact, if I'm not mistaken, Yangyang, your first Martial Soul also mutated, didn't it?"

Though unfamiliar with twin Martial Soul theory, Zhu Changhe understood the importance of balance. Combined with the unusual feeling he'd sensed during the awakening, he had drawn this conclusion.

"Yes. My Dusklight Scythe also mutated—it became the Radiant Scythe, which has a much stronger light attribute. I think you could probably feel that too, Dad," Zhu Ziyang said frankly.

"I knew it!" A confident smile appeared on Zhu Changhe's face. "Radiant Scythe, huh? Let me see it again."

"Okay." Zhu Ziyang nodded and extended his hand. The Radiant Scythe appeared, instantly causing the light elements in the air around them to surge with activity.

Zhu Changhe also released his own Martial Soul—a battle scythe that looked similar in shape to the Radiant Scythe. But the difference was clear. The Radiant Scythe was bright and pure white, while the Dusklight Scythe was dimmer and more of a grayish white. The disparity in their affinity for light was evident at a glance.

"So this is what a high-grade Martial Soul looks like… it's beautiful," Zhu Changhe murmured, staring at his son's scythe with envy and awe.
