Chapter 19 - Unspoken promises

The rooftop was quiet, wrapped in the soft glow of the setting sun. Liora and Mara sat close, their fingers entwined, sharing a stillness that spoke louder than any words.

Liora's thoughts drifted as she looked at Mara—at the way her eyes held both strength and softness, at the subtle curve of her smile that never failed to make her heart flutter.

"I don't know what the future holds," Liora said quietly, her voice full of uncertainty.

Mara's hand tightened around hers, steady and reassuring. "We don't have to know. We just have to be here, now."

Liora nodded, the weight of her fears lifting slightly in the warmth of Mara's presence.

"I want to believe in us," she whispered.

Mara leaned in, her forehead resting gently against Liora's. "Then believe. I do."

Their breaths mingled, and in that silent promise, the language of goodbye became a language of hope—of beginnings written not in words but in the quiet connection of

two hearts.
