Chapter 53 - Chapter 53

Kalix scoffed as the recorder went silent...

His hand Lowered down from the air, while his eyes stared at it.

"Tell me for godsake this is a damned lie!"

He yelled though his teeth making me tremble under his deadly glare.

"K-kalix... actually I -"

"I said for god sake tell me that you made this just a flying fucking joke, Laurel!"

He screamed as he threw the small device, flying into the air as it bumped into the wall before dividing into many piece.

I flinched at his sudden outrage while he stood there.

"I'm asking something from you!"

He roared, his yell echoed through the whole quiet and calm apartment, hitting my eardrums.

I no longer knew, what and how to answer him, Laurel said he would support me if I told him, but would he still do it? After he finds it out all by himself.

Once my university's professor told us students, that it's better to let someone know about the things you might've done, by yourself rather than letting them find out about it all by themselves... especially if it's by stranger.

And now I understood as to why he said that.

"You...where is Laurel? Where the heck did you keep my sister? And what are you trying to get onto by impersonating her?"

He held my shoulders in a firm grip, squeezing them as tightly as he could.

I hissed trying to get myself out of his hold, but he didn't falter away.

My fractured hand had began throbbing eventhough I wasn't using it to defend myself, maybe it was due to the blockage of circulation.

"Kalix! Leave me...you are hurting me!"

"First tell me where the fuck have you kept my sister!"

Bringing his face up close to mine he dug his nail in my shoulders, the warm fabric of my shirt was now burning the coarse of my skin.

"Please!" I begged, my eyes turned glossy, while my left hand was fully purple and the fingertips that were only visible through the cast was darker in colour.

"I should have handed you out to police the second I had found you suspicious!"

He snickered watching me in pain.

"So you are hurting? What? Is this even real?"

Mocking my pain, he left my shoulders before squeezing the visible skin of the plastered palm.

I let out an agonising scream, yanking my hand out of his grip.

Falling on my knees, with my left hand in my right.

The pain was too much bear, my breathe came out broke, and all he did was look down at me.

Scoffing at me he walked out of the bedroom before I heard the main door slam shut, leaving the whole apartment quiet except for my broken and painful sobs.

I cried hysterically, tears continuously withering from my eyes while I remained on the floor for as long as I could remember.

It was 7 when he had arrived back at the complex...and when I got up from there.

It was still 7.

12 hours had passed, since Kalix had walked out from here.

There was a sting on both my shoulders but my left hand, it wasn't in a good condition.

I got up from my place, an awful quiver in my body all while I took a shower, trying to ease of the pain...not just physical, but even mental.

Getting out of the cubicle, I stood Infront of the wall mirror staring at my pathetic self.

Cleaning the half moons on my shoulder, I applied a bandage over them, while the bruises remained untouched.

Who said only the heroine suffers and never the villainess?

I don't know about Elodie, but I have suffered more than her, I have seen it...with my very own eyes, felt it all by myself.

Changing into another set of clothing I walked out of the bathroom, and my eyes went directly at the mess right Infront of the cupboard.

The books, the documents... everything.

They had been in a similar condition ever since the day I told Luca about my secret... and now Kalix had found out about everything just because of it.

I slowly walked to it, one after another I picked up everything, taking the pile in my hands, not caring about the other being injured and puffed red.

Throwing everything on the bed, I myself sat near it.

Opening everything Infront of me, the urge to solve everything right here and now was quite strong inside of me, but at the same time I felt so mentally exhausted, that I couldn't even try to focus on anything, yet my mind knew that one way or another I have to do it...

I have to solve the case, because once again, I was alone...all alone,

And no Luca was coming to protect me now.

I underline every line that I thought was important.

There were many more things that I had found out, in the original novel, Franklin did protected Elodie from Laurel many times, but not for ones did he ever hurt Laurel by himself, and here he did hurt me.

Not just that, he almost killed someone-

Wait-no!

After he was shot, he was still alive but he died later on while being in the hospital...

That means he...that can't be.

He was murdered.

Luca didn't die after himself... someone had messed with either his medicines or his treatment.

Who? Franklin wasn't there...if he had been there, he would've visited me, after facing him these many times I am confirmed that if he is around he would show it to me.

He wouldn't hide away...that means there was someone else.

But who? The doctors? If they can lock Cecily, they can do anything to Luca.

The books were spread Infront of me...everything was sprawled all over the bed.

Yet nothing was visible to me, I need to connect the dots...i need to connect the scenes.

I have to match every event that happened with me, with the novel's.

Yeah so I have gone through-

There is not a single scene that matches with the book, every single scene happening with me, changed the total personality of all the characters.

Katherine and Logan, the two extras Cecily and Luca.

And even Kalix and Cassian were different than the ones in the original novel.

Their way of talking and behaviour with Laurel was diffirent.

The party!

I began matching all the similarities of Ayla's welcome party and Laurel's welcome party.

Both parties were held at the Valor farmhouse, just like in the novel, even in this party Laurel, me and Elodie talked to each other, but unlike the novel, this time Elodie was the one who talked suspiciously with me.

I hissed at the the constant throb on my left hand, and took it in my right hand, massaging my elbow, then near where the plaster had started, but the pain was not ready to go away.

My eyes were also burning, maybe it was because I had been awake the whole night, or maybe because of crying too much.

Getting out of the bed, I went to the kitchen, and by chance there were some snacks in the fridge and the cupboard, after filling my stomach with them I took my pills and a painkiller for the pain and went back to work.

My body had started feeling cold, while I was back again to looking for any hint, any clue that could point me to the one behind it all, behind everything that has happened to me, with me.

After the party the next day Laurel was on the way to the mall for shopping when she spots Cassian's car and follows it to a hospital and comes across a worried Cassian, rushing his beloved sick El to the hospital.

"This scene can't be here, I don't think so... Maybe I should go through the contents of the next scene, that might help me more."

I whispered to myself and began going through the contents of the next scene, the scene after Laurel makes a scene at the hospital for Cassian being around Elodie, that ruins her image.

After that, came the first scene, where Kalix fights with Cassian because of Laurel, for him cheating on her.

This must be it, an argument but...the changes, I need to focus on the changes.

Again and again whenever I tried to focus on anything I was doing, I couldn't because of the constant ache in my hand and my quivering body.

I winced, staring at my hand tearfully, massaging my left arm, hoping that it might be enough to relieve the pain on the palm, but sadly it was not enough.

The pain was making me go crazy, and I was ready to do anything that would make it go away.

The door bell got my attention as I opened the door, while sniffing.

Cassian Valor.
