Chapter 44 - Chapter 44: Mbappé, You’re Lying — Su Doesn’t Even Know You

"Su Hang to make a comeback for his young fans — volunteers for the next match!"

"Touching moment at Real Madrid's training ground — Su Hang promises to bring victory for his young supporters!"

"Young fan's live celebration moves Su Hang — Bernabéu's ace striker requests to play!"

In an exclusive interview, Clara revealed:

"Su Hang deeply regrets not playing last match despite being injured. He might not have been able to change the result, but giving his all would have left him with no regrets."

In an instant, Su Hang became the embodiment of determination.

Countless fans rallied behind him, though some urged patience, hoping he wouldn't rush back and risk his health.

Reading those comments made Su Hang's conscience ache.

After all… he had never actually been injured.

November 28 — La Liga, Round 13.

Real Madrid hosted Levante at the Bernabéu.

Levante's players arrived with a simmering grudge against Barcelona.

"You acted all high and mighty, and now we're the ones paying the price?"

"If you've got guts, come to the Bernabéu!"

That hostility didn't go unnoticed. Real Madrid fans, already riled up from the loss to Barcelona, were out for blood.

Why was Levante so tense?

Because Albacete had already set a dangerous precedent — getting thrashed before them.

On paper, Levante's seventh-place standing was far better than Albacete's seventeenth.

Yet the Spanish press still predicted a grim fate for them, even tipping them for relegation.

Their points had mostly come against weaker teams, and from this round onward, a gauntlet of strong opponents awaited — a stretch that could drag them down fast.

On Real Madrid's bench, Simon still worried about Su Hang's condition, so he started him as a substitute.

But everyone knew — barring surprises, Su Hang would step onto the pitch.

Right now, Su Hang wasn't just a player.

He was the symbol of pride Real Madrid fans clung to after the crushing defeat to Barcelona.

Real Madrid's starting lineup:

Morientes, Ronaldo, Raúl

Roberto Carlos, Zidane, Beckham, Figo

Woodgate, Samuel, Helguera

Casillas.

Meanwhile — Bondy, Seine-Saint-Denis, Île-de-France.

At AS Bondy Football Club, a group of kids gathered around the TV.

Mbappé pointed excitedly at the screen.

"Look, that's Su! I met him when I went to Madrid — he even hugged me… like this!"

His friends stared wide-eyed, their faces full of envy.

Until one asked, "Did he give you his autograph? My uncle once got Lyon star Benzema's signature!"

"That's Benzema! He might be the least talented of the French Four Swans, but I still think he's no worse than Su Hang!"

Little Mbappé froze, as if struck by lightning.

Because… he didn't have an autograph.

Laughter erupted.

"Haha! You're lying! You never met Su!"

"Liar! Liar!"

The world of children is simple… and cruel.

Eyes brimming with tears, Mbappé shot back, "I'm not lying! Su said he'd score a goal for me! You'll see — once he scores…"

His friends scoffed. "Even if he scores, how can you prove it's for you?"

Mbappé straightened, crossing his arms in front of his chest with a deliberate, cool-looking gesture.

"We made a deal! This is our signal! Su will celebrate like this after his goal!"

For a moment, his sincerity left them unsure.

Until the first doubter muttered, "He might not even score…"

Back at the Bernabéu, the match kicked off.

From the start, Real Madrid pressed forward aggressively.

In the 4th minute, Woodgate made a backfield passing error, gifting the ball to Levante's winger. The pass intended for the striker was overhit and rolled harmlessly out of play — but the home crowd had already spotted Levante's nerves.

Simon frowned on the sideline. After nearly twenty matches, Woodgate was still making basic mistakes. This wasn't about adapting anymore — it was about whether he was good enough. At best, he was on par with Pavón or Bravo, far from the level of Samuel or Helguera.

In the 7th minute, Zidane sent a brilliant pass to Figo, whose shot was blocked. Raúl pounced on the rebound — blocked again.

In the 10th minute, Ronaldo was knocked over from behind just outside the box. The referee waved play on — it seemed fair enough — but Ronaldo stayed down. After treatment, he insisted on continuing.

Two minutes later, he made Levante regret it.

Roberto Carlos crossed to Morientes, who flicked it on to Zidane. without taking a touch, Zidane slid it wide to Ronaldo. In one fluid motion, Ronaldo received, turned, cut inside, and curled a shot from the edge of the box.

"GOAL! One-nil!"

"That's Ronaldo — the Phenomenon of the Bernabéu!"

"He answered the foul that hurt him — with football!"

A relegation struggler could hardly match Real Madrid's firepower.

In the 15th minute, Levante tried to counter, but Real Madrid stole it back. Roberto Carlos crossed the halfway line and attempted a long-range lob — just over the bar.

In the 18th, Figo was fouled on the wing. Zidane played the free kick short; Raúl smashed a long-range strike — 2-0 to Real Madrid!

In the 35th, Levante's winger broke into the box, used a simple feint to beat Woodgate, and fired home — but the flag went up for offside. The Bernabéu breathed a sigh of relief, though the groans at Woodgate's defending grew louder.

In the 40th, Real Madrid pressed high, Zidane fought for the ball, chipped it to Ronaldo, and the Brazilian volleyed — over the stands.

The crowd was still in good spirits, enjoying flashes of brilliance from the two best players in the world.

Halftime: 2-0.

After the break, Real Madrid kept up the pressure.

In the 57th, Roberto Carlos whipped in a low cross, but Morientes was too far out and Ronaldo couldn't get the height — the ball zipped past the goal.

Figo recovered it on the far side and crossed again, but Ronaldo lost the aerial duel to a center back. His heading game wasn't his deadliest weapon, though still above average.

Yet after landing, Ronaldo began rubbing his leg — the earlier knock clearly troubling him again.

Seeing this, Simon immediately sent Su Hang to warm up on the sidelines.
