Chapter 24 - My body wasn't listening to me

While I was rallying the people away, I didn't know that the dragon's gaze shifted towards a certain direction.

It looked like it had found its first batch of victims.

It angled its wings, flying upward, and in that terrible instant, I realized where it was headed... straight toward another nearby cluster of people who hadn't made it out yet.

"No…" I whispered with my hoaxed voice that was nearly ruined by the sulphur.

They might be able to avoid the dragon if they hide behind the rubble. Yes, no need to care for them too much and... But I spotted a boy, maybe six, standing in the dragon's path, too paralyzed to move.

He was the only one there.

The others didn't even try to help him and ran for their own selves.

Tsk, he was just a kid.

Could humans not show that they were extremely selfish and cold-hearted at a time like this?

How could they live, knowing they didn't help such a little boy?

I didn't think and just ran to help.
