Coming back to my senses was a slow process. I felt a deep grogginess as though I had been asleep for a really long time. It was obvious that I was no longer in the forest. No insect noises, no birds. It was too quiet. In the week that my team had spent in the forest, we had found that while the wildlife here was different, it was still the same as Earth's in the form of them making themselves known with different sounds.
Lili was still sleeping in my mind. It seemed to be a deep sleep. She was softly purring in contented bliss. I couldn't help the small smile that came just from looking at her. She had helped a great deal while we fought the raiders. She deserved the rest. The amount of strength she had shown for such a new dragon was amazing. Not that I knew a lot about new dragons. But in my opinion, my dragon was awesome!
