Lex had closed his eyes, fearing for his life. But then, suddenly, he heard the voice of a woman or… a cat.
'The hell!? Did the cat just get a tongue or what?'
He slowly and carefully opened his eyes, expecting to see the blue cat, but what he saw instead made him question reality.
All around him were flowers. Flowers stretching as far as the eye could see, nothing but a sea of colors in every direction.
Every kind of flower imaginable, from simple roses to giant blooms taller than trees. The scene was breathtaking.
In front of him stood the cat he had saved. It glowed a bright, shimmering blue, shining brighter and brighter as he stared.
'Is Miss Kitten about to transform into a beautiful goddess?'
He thought, but as if hearing his thoughts, the cat stopped glowing and simply remained a cat.
"I'm just a cat, not some beautiful goddess, nyaa."
Miss Kitten's voice was like music, pleasant and soothing to hear.
'Did Miss Kitten just read my thoughts? How bad.' Lex thought.
Miss Kitten said no more, instead turning her back to him and climbing a nearby tree, one with no leaves, only flowers.
Miss Kitten reached toward a branch and lazily closed her black eyes before speaking again.
'First, mortal, nyaa you for saving me even though it was not needed."
He heard her and nodded. But inside his mind, he clicked his tongue and thought,
'It's fine, but is Miss Kitten gonna transmigrate or reincarnate me into another world? Probably in A&A... how cliché.'
"nyaa, I'm going to reincarnate you into another world as a reward for saving me," Miss Kitten continued. "You already know about it. It's the world of your favorite game called Academy & Adventure."
Lex shook his head like he was disappointed that his child was lying to him and failing miserably. "Miss Kitten, stop lying. Can't you just say the real reason?"
Miss Kitten closed her eyes and turned her back to him again.
"Fine, fine. Actually, there's more to it. A&A is actually another world, and it's made by the God of Entertainment for unknown reasons."
"You have to go and live in that world and enjoy your life, giving the universe entertainment. You're chosen because you completed the game with the best score."
Lex looked at her. He knew she was still lying and not telling the whole truth, but he just accepted it.
"So, Miss Kitten, are you the God of Entertainment?"
She replied, "Nope. I'm the god of streaming."
Lex said, "What!"
Miss Kitten spoke again, "nyaa, I'll explain you everything later. But don't worry, you will be given a system that will help you grow. I will also be there with you, so you'll have huge help."
Lex thought, 'Wait... let's assume I'm the best gamer of A&A, which I am. So is that the reason they picked me? Then my death was planned by them!!'
He felt disgust and hatred toward Miss Kitten. He had tried to save her life, but if this was how she paid him back, then he wouldn't do anything she told him.
Unlike many who would feel happiness if they got this chance, he felt anger. He had a nice and loving family, good friends—what about them?
He was just about to ask if it was true when Miss Kitten spoke again,
"nyaa, you're wrong. It wasn't me who killed you. I can't provide any proof since I'm sure you wouldn't believe me."
"But I can assure you, if you want, you can choose not to reincarnate and go the natural path after death. But if you choose to be with me, then one day you can return to your world."
Lex looked tired and let out a big sigh.
'I'm not sure if she's lying or not… well, I can't do anything against her or demand the real truth.'
He looked up at the sky. It was normal, except the clouds were made of flowers.
'It's fucking tiring to look at flowers at this point… man, I don't think I even have a choice, do I?'
He glanced at Miss Kitten and said, "Fine. Miss Kitten, I believe you for now. I mean, even if I don't believe, does it really matter?"
"Anyway, I'll comply with you. Can you reincarnate me? I think I'm ready."
He spoke and then sat down on the flowers, thinking about his parents and friends one last time, promising himself he would return someday.
Miss Kitten turned to him and said, "Good. Then let's start the process."
She jumped down from the tree and moved toward him. With her little paw, she touched his head like a blessing.
Lex began to glow with swirling black light, which quickly consumed him completely.
He was unable to move, and his ability to think was slowly being stolen away. Before his ultimate death, his last thoughts were:
Which character will I reincarnate as?
Would it be one of the three main characters, a villain, a side character, or just some unmentioned extra?
Well, in the end, all of those options felt kind of cliché, but he hoped he wouldn't reincarnate as a female character — that would be weird.
He preferred cliché over being a woman.
Soon, his consciousness faded away, and Miss Kitten disappeared from that world of flowers.
