Mo Yu, who was being questioned, looked confused and said,
"It's none of my business if your little brother's missing. I'm not their dad. Should I be keeping an eye on them all the time?"
"You're lying!"
Uchiha Fugaku said angrily.
"Tell me, where did you hide them?"
Mo Yu rolled his eyes and replied,
"What do you mean, hide? They're three grown adults, not some kind of objects."
Mo Yu's expression turned serious as he coldly said,
"Uchiha Fugaku, don't wrongfully accuse me. If you think I'm the one who hid them, then show me the evidence!"
Uchiha Fugaku said,
"Of course, I have evidence. Last night, I had them go…"
"Go where? Why stop talking?" Mo Yu asked.
Uchiha Fugaku was at a loss for words. He certainly couldn't say, I had them go and teach you a lesson, because that would be admitting to everything.
Uchiha Fugaku glared at Mo Yu, snorted, and sat down.
"This isn't over. You wait and see."
He was also quite puzzled about where Arima Shoichi and the others had gone.
Uchiha Fugaku suspected their disappearance might have something to do with Mo Yu, but he could never have imagined that Mo Yu might have killed them. He still thought of Mo Yu as the useless guy who couldn't even cultivate chakra.
"Ahem, Arima Shoichi, Asai Tora, and Kamejima Shota are missing. Of course, the village will send people to look for them. Let's continue with the roll call. We won't wait for them any longer."
Teacher Tōjō Yuzu continued calling names until the last one.
"Mo Yu."
"Here."
"Alright, roll call is over. Apart from Arima Shoichi, Asai Tora, and Kamejima Shota, everyone else is here. Now, I'll explain the exam content for today."
Tōjō Yuzu said.
The format for the graduation exams changes each year, and so does the difficulty.
For example, in the original story, Naruto's generation only had to pass the basic three-body technique, which was the easiest graduation exam.
Since it was a time of peace, the graduation bar was set lower.
But now, nearly ten years of preparation had passed, and various countries and ninja villages were starting to stir, with conflicts emerging. It wouldn't be long before a new war broke out.
So the requirements for lower-ranked ninjas were higher now. Just knowing the three-body technique wouldn't cut it on the battlefield; such a ninja would just be cannon fodder.
"This year's graduation exam is more difficult, and there are three parts."
"First, we will test your theoretical knowledge."
"Second, we will assess your mastery of ninjutsu. Each of you must successfully perform at least one D-rank ninjutsu."
"Third, we have a practical combat test. We've invited a few lower-ranked ninjas, who graduated from this school, to act as your examiners. You must last at least one minute against them without being defeated to pass."
When Tōjō Yuzu mentioned the third part, many students in the class groaned.
The first two parts weren't too concerning, but the third part would likely eliminate quite a few.
The exam soon began.
The theoretical knowledge portion took about an hour and was completed without incident.
Everyone passed.
It was the easiest part of the graduation exam. As long as you paid attention in class, it was hard to fail.
Even if you didn't understand the theory at all, as long as you performed well in the other two parts, you could still graduate.
After all, in this world, strength mattered more than knowledge.
The second round of the exam started.
As the teacher called names, students went one by one to the adjacent room for their assessment.
Ninety percent of the students passed this round.
In Konoha Village, all D-rank ninjutsu were fully open to students in the ninja school, allowing them to freely learn and practice.
After all, these were low-level ninjutsu, and Konoha didn't mind them being spread around.
The two D-rank ninjutsu Mo Yu had learned—Genjutsu: Naraku Blade Technique and Fire Style: Great Fireball Technique—were part of this category.
This was also done to accommodate civilian students.
The Opening of the Eight Gates was listed as a D-rank by the system, but the full Eight Gates technique was considered forbidden.
In Konoha, only a small number of Jonin were qualified to learn it.
In the original story, Guy had already broken the village rules by teaching the Eight Gates to Lee, but because Guy held a high position in the village, no one dared to challenge him.
Therefore, unless it was necessary, Mo Yu had no intention of revealing that he had learned the Eight Gates. He only planned to keep it as a trump card. He was fine using the Naraku Blade Technique and Great Fireball Technique, as no one would question it.
Soon, all the students finished their assessments, leaving only one person.
"Mo Yu!"
Mo Yu stood up and walked out.
"Heh, a dying struggle,"
Uchiha Fugaku sneered as Mo Yu passed by him.
Mo Yu pretended not to hear and continued walking, not even slowing his pace.
Uchiha Fugaku's sneer froze on his face. He didn't expect Mo Yu to ignore him, and his anger surged as he gritted his teeth.
"Let's see if you still dare to act so tough later."
He could almost predict that Mo Yu would soon walk out of the exam room looking like a drowned rat.
The other students in the class were watching with amusement, some with disdain, and others with glee.
A few students who failed the assessment found some comfort in Mo Yu's situation—at least they weren't the worst.
Mo Yu entered the exam room, and before a minute had passed, the door opened again.
Mo Yu walked out, expressionless.
Uchiha Fugaku was stunned for a moment before sneering,
"Hahaha, what a waste. You gave up so quickly. I thought you'd last a little longer."
The other students followed with light laughter.
Mo Yu once again ignored Uchiha Fugaku and walked back to his seat.
Uchiha Fugaku, furious, walked over and stood above him, saying,
"Hey, what are you still doing here? It's not your turn anymore. Hurry up and get lost."
Mo Yu glanced at him, said nothing, and quietly stared out the window, completely treating Uchiha Fugaku like air.
Uchiha Fugaku was enraged, about to continue when Teacher Tōjō Yuzu walked in.
"Alright, the second round of the exam is over. Those who didn't pass, please leave. The rest, come with me to the training field."
The students who failed walked away disheartened.
Some of the younger ones still had a chance next year, but the older ones had to give up their dreams of becoming ninjas.
Uchiha Fugaku, seeing Mo Yu sitting still, shouted to Tōjō Yuzu,
"Teacher, there seems to be a useless guy who refuses to leave. I suggest you just throw him out."
Tōjō Yuzu looked down at her notebook with a complicated expression, then read aloud,
"Name: Mo Yu."
"Ninjutsu used in the exam: Fire Style: Great Fireball Technique."
"Release speed: A-rank."
"Power strength: A-rank."
"Control ability: A-rank."
With 3 A-ranks, Mo Yu had achieved the highest score possible in the exam.
Even Uchiha Fugaku only managed an A in control.
"So, Mo Yu, you passed the exam!"
As the words left her mouth, the entire class went silent.
