Penny's POV
The drive back to my house feels longer than it actually is. Andrew's hand rests steady on the wheel, his jaw set the whole way. I keep stealing glances at him, my heart still pounding from Jess's text.
When we finally pull into the driveway, the lights in the house still on. I see a figure move behind the curtain downstairs.
"They're all still up," I murmur, climbing out of the car.
"Good," Andrew replies, shutting his door. "No more waiting."
He reaches for my hand as we head into the house, and I take it without hesitation.
The second we step inside, the familiar warmth of the living room wraps around me. Mom's favorite lavender candle burns on the mantel, and Nick is sitted across the couch like he owns it, tossing a cushion into the air and catching it lazily.
"Finally," Jess says the moment she spots me, her tone sharp but her eyes flashing with relief. She's perched on the armchair like a queen on a throne with arms crossed, and her ankle bouncing.
