"It seems she's trying to get out."
The two continued watching, unhurried, without interfering. Neither of them made any move to help; both knew that spiritual beasts needed to break out of their own eggs.
It was the first test of life, the first challenge that would strengthen her body and determination. Interfering could weaken the creature, making her more fragile, less capable of surviving in the world that awaited her.
A few more minutes passed, each second an eternity.
Then...
'CRACK!'
The main crack grew larger, a line stretching from one side of the egg to the other. A faint, high-pitched chirp echoed from inside, weak, like the sound of a hatchling calling out for the first time.
Another strike came from within, stronger than the previous ones. Then another, even more determined.
Until...
'CRAAACK!'
