Chapter 29 - Chapter 29: Gearing for Glory

"Congrats, Rampage-san. Stellar run."

"Please, Grandma, that's embarrassing."

"Hehe, thought you'd changed, but praise still flusters you."

Having conquered the Daily Hai G2, Rampage visited the Mejiro mansion to report to Asama. Her heartfelt praise, amplified by her commanding voice, tickled Rampage's pride.

"Five wins, back-to-back G3s, and now aiming for G1. High expectations. Your thoughts?"

"Nami-chan and I are planning for Hanshin Juvenile Fillies."

"So, your goal is…"

"Triple Tiara."

Those words sparked a fire in Asama. The first to claim that crown was a Mejiro legend, inspiring countless Uma Musume to chase the Tiara route. No second winner had emerged, but Rampage's ambition stirred Asama's old racing passion.

"That's the spirit. Brace for a tough path—but it's worth pursuing."

"Bring it. The queen's three crowns? This tyrant's gonna claim them."

Bowing, Rampage left, her fierce, predatory expression leaving Asama trembling—not with fear, but awe. She wasn't just a challenger burning for trials; she'd already set her sights beyond, determined not to stall. Her victories were essential to shift from negative to zero, then to triumph.

"Using even that as a stepping stone… what a cheeky granddaughter."

Sipping tea, Asama found it unusually delightful, humming softly.

"Yo, Nami-chan, it's here?"

"Yes, right here."

Back at Tresen Academy, Rampage, heading to the dorm, got a call from Minamizaka. In the clubroom, a large box sat on the table.

"That was fast. Didn't you say these take longer?"

"If there's detailed requests, yes. Yours were simple."

"No frills, no delays, huh?"

"Pretty much…"

Ignoring Minamizaka's wry look, Rampage opened the box. Inside—her win outfit, battle gear for G1. Wearing it, she'd become her true self, the one she aspired to be.

"Can I try it on?"

"Sure, I'll step out. Call when you're done."

"Stay, it's fine. I trust you not to get weird."

"Even so… not sure if that's flattering."

Was she not seen as a man? Or trusted fully as a trainer? Maybe both? Minamizaka stepped out, and Rampage, muttering "boring," started changing.

"Here we go… been a while."

Used to uniforms or clothes picked by Ryan and Ines, this felt fresh for her now-feminine self. She'd worn suits before, but stopped after Tama's worried looks and Creek's teary hugs.

"Alright, done, Nami-chan!"

Calling out, Minamizaka returned, surprised, then smiling.

"It suits you perfectly, Rampage-san."

"Feminine stuff's never been my thing. This fits me naturally."

Black pants evoking scorched earth, a pristine white shirt like fresh snow, and a long black coat enveloping it all like night—Rampage looked striking. Minamizaka thought, This'll draw fans.

"Love it. If they'd added some cleavage-showing nonsense, I'd have sent it back and raced in a suit."

Laughing, Rampage relieved Minamizaka. The outfit was cool but lacked cuteness or allure, its long coat giving a fully masculine vibe, unlike most boyish win outfits that hinted at femininity.

"Hey, Nami-chan, can I run in this?"

"You'd better. We need to check for issues."

"Fair. Let's go~"

Hands in coat pockets, she strode out, Minamizaka following. Murmurs erupted around them.

"Is that… Rampage-senpai!?"

"So cool…"

"That's her win outfit!?"

"Eee! It's perfect on our tall queen…"

"Nami-chan, am I standing out?"

"Big time."

"Why?"

Scratching her cheek, Minamizaka dodged. Why? Rampage was popular—tallest at Tresen, with a refreshing, big-sister vibe, masculine speech laced with charm. Many juniors admired her.

"Ran! You're rocking that~!!"

"Pretty sweet, right?"

"So cool~!!"

At the Canopus training course, Turbo zoomed over, eyes sparkling.

"Whoa, super masculine~ Fits you better than suits, Ran."

"Oi, Nature, drop the suit talk."

"So cool~!! I want a win outfit! Should I start designing~!?"

"Not a bad idea, Tanhoiza. I just picked quick, so not much weight to my advice."

Nature teased with a grin, Tanhoiza's outfit dreams grew, each reacting uniquely. Then Ikuno appeared.

"What do you think, Ikuno?"

"Truly splendid. It's you—uniquely yours."

"Best compliment ever."

Their Daily Hai clash behind them, Ikuno's words held pure praise, teammate camaraderie restored. Buoyed by friends, Rampage looked skyward, telling Minamizaka:

"Nami-chan, Hanshin Juvenile—I'm winning."

"I'm counting on it."
