Chapter 4 - Look Down On You!

Upon hearing those words, Wei Kun let out a chuckle. The dark clouds brought by his failed assassination cleared for a moment, and an amused smile creaped onto the corners of his lips.

Buy one get one free, plus an additional bonus. Not only would he earn a fortune, but he would also get to teach the arrogant kid a lesson. The day could not be more perfect.

The old woman couldn't help as she heard the words that seemed to wash her dry throat with dew. Even if the young lady said nothing she was going to make a sale. Now, she also had the opportunity to earn more. She could tell from the young lady's dress that she was from a renowned clan. No matter how high she raised the price, the young lady would still be able to afford it. However, she didn't dare inflate the price too much.

Though the young lady was alone, she knew that children from affluent clans usually had experts guiding them in the dark and could not risk her little life.

So, she could only double the previous amount. "Hundred coins?" She said, her head bowed down.

A few sticks of incense burned with no one responding. She raised her head to see and saw the puzzled looks on everyone's face.

Was the price too much?

Got You. Wei Kun laughed inwardly. A single gold coin was worth a hundred silver coins. To the old woman, it was double the final fifty coins she'd painstakingly bargained, but to him, it was only a single gold coin and one that would return carrying more six babies.

Thinking here, he turned around and faced the young girl, making sure she wouldn't escape while he wasn't looking.

Meanwhile, deep in the sky, hidden by late night clouths, a figure observed the entire scene.

She was Miao Miao's protector, a cultivator. Using her divine sense, she could naturally peek through Wei Kun's pouch without arousing suspicion. And she had long seen that her young princess had raised a stone only to strike her own foot.

But she did not intervene or warn her; these were the orders of the emperor. Even if it were different, she would not rush in now, not after the effort she put into tempering the princess. She hoped the princess would surprise her by turning the situation around and not wasting her two years of sweat and hard work.

Back on the street, Miao Miao stared at the hairy beggar before her. With his unkept hair and unruly beard, he looked like someone who had slept in the wild and was tortured by the elements. This did not faze her who had seen many things and was instead looking for that panicked expression, but it was nowhere to be found, and instead, she saw a grin pastered on his smug face. She clenched her fist and resisted the urge to wipe it off.

"So are you still betting?" Wei Kun said, grabbing the tiny strand that was holding the mouth of the pouch. He made sure to open one eye in the girl's direction.

"You're bluffing." She didn't buy it. He was just trying to scare her into backing away. She stared fiercely at Wei Kun, wanting to see what tricks he was up to.

Wei Kun let out a chuckle as he pulled the string and opened the pouch, a golden light escaped from the pouch as he began pulling a gold coin.

The little girl's face darkened and was soon twisted as Wei Kun continued to pull one coin after the other. The amount of coins he had produced already exceeded the price of the gourd, but he still continued to take out more gold coins . As the coins landed on top of each other, she felt her cheeks burning.

"There, how about it?" Wei Kun asked. He had heard the tale of the golden goose but never imagined he'd encounter one this soon. "Eh, you wouldn't go back on your word, would you?" he asked warily, before putting the coins back in the pouch and saying, "Because, I, Beggar Kun, would look down on you!"

"You!" The little girl extended her shaking index finger in Wei Kun's direction. Her cheeks turned green with anger. Since when had a peasant darwd to show her face.

Her small chest moved up and down as her internal energy rose from her lower abdomen and entered her finger. The energy was about to congeal when she had a spark of inspiration and retracted her small arm.

"Fine," She said before taking out a fragrant pouch from her clothes.

"How did you store it there, clearly–," Wei Kun soon shut his mouth after he seeing the killing intent inside the kid's eyes.

"One!"

"Two!"

She started taking out the six gold coins from her pouch before reluctantly placing them in Wei Kun's big hand. Anyone looking at this scene would certainly misunderstand.

After handing over the money, the little girl turned around and stomped her feet into the distance, leaving only an aggrived voice: "I hope you can still sleep after eating thatoney".

Wei Kun paid no mind to the stomping feet and flicked a coin to the old hag before continuing down the alley. Suddenly, the moon was too beautiful tonight. He practically got the gourd for free, and he now had an extra five coins, making his balance come to thirty coins.

With this amount, purchasing cultivation resources would be east. All he had to do was wait until he arrived at the capital and he'd also have the chance to move his own fate.

The first realm of cultivation, Body Tempering involved the cultivation of the body.

To enter this realm, one must clean his marrow and only then can one call himself a cultivator. However, this stage could be described as both easy and hard, it was easy if you had the to make an herbal bath and let the medicinal energy do all the work.

The other method, was to pull the marrow from the born and scrub it. This way was as difficult as scaling the heavens which explained why they were a lot of mortal than cultivators.

But, he Wei Kun was favored by the heavens and would soon break past this hurdle. A heroic spirit engulfed him as he entered into the alley leading to the resting inn.

"Hehehe, our boy is surely floating in the clouds after catching a lick."

"No way is he not gonna share with his big brothers, right?"

"I don't know. Why don't we ask him?"

Wei Kun lifted his head upon hearing the voices. "Who are you?" He asked the two men who had appeared before him. They were already a few meters away from him, and he had only sensed their arrival after they had spoken.

If they hadn't, would he… His brows darkened upon that thought.

"Oww, now look what you did, Beggar One?"

"Sorry, I didn't mean to scare a fellow beggar."

The two men continued to tease Wei Kun, whose expression had finally turned livid. He realised that this meeting was no coincidence.

Then one of the men said something that hit him, "Hey, Odd Gourd, isn't it Beggar Kun?".

Everything started to make sense. He had thought the loud countong was just the way of the girl throwing off her temper. Never had he thought that such a lovely girl would be this vicious. She had actually attracted a pair of wolves his way and here he was wondering whether he should apologize to her when they met again.

But it looks like he might have trouble living past tonight.

"How ruthless, princess, that was just a mortal." A mature voice sounded like a soothing melody. This was the powerhouse in the air. Naturally, she had heard the change in Miao Miao's voice when she was counting the coins.

"Hmph," Miao humped coldly. She would not speak to anyone.

The mature lady silently nodded. This was good too. She had expected the princess to use physical force and fail her tribulation, but she was proves wrong. A smile appeared on her face. This was a pleasant surprise. This trip was a total success.

"Princess, we have been away for too long; we should visit his highness," she said. Although she sounded polite, she was already lifting the reluctant Miao into the air.

She knew the princesses would want to watch the result of her schemes. But she knew better; it wasn't worth provoking those powerhouses by prolonging their stay and worse for an insignificant mortal that'll make no waves.
