Mina turned around and saw it. A beast. Standing on two legs. Tiger like strips on his body. Sharp claws. Head of a Dragon with sharp fangs and yellow glowing eyes. Dragon wings. And it seemed to have gills as well.
Mina stood there, frozen in place. She didn't know what to do. Her mind went blank as she stared at the monstrosity before her.
The monster ignored her and went past her, towards the supply truck. The food had spilled out. It pushed some towards Mina and started eating the rest.
"What is that thing trying to do?" Mina thought to herself. "It didn't hurt me. Is it a neutral monster?"
Neutral monsters were a type of monsters that didn't hurt anyone as long as you didn't hurt them or their friends or family first. Hurt their pack, and you're done.
Mina stared at the monster as it ate everything. Then, it stood up and walked towards her.
"Is it gonna kill me now that he's full?"
But that didn't happen. The monster stood before her and closed it's eyes. Then, yellow smoke covered it's body. When the smoke vanished, there was no more a monster. There was a boy. He looked 17. He had a tiger tail and ears. He wasn't wearing anything but Mina was too confused to notice that.
The boy walked towards her and laid down beside her. And went to sleep. He actually slept.
"Huh? Mina thought to herself while staring at the boy. "What's going on? Did that thing just turn into a little boy? " She stared at him a little longer. "He might be related to 'her'."
A Few Hours Later:
Mina was now sitting beside that boy, keeping her distance. She had covered the boy with a blanket.
After a few minutes, the boy stirred and woke up. Mina tensed as he did. He sat up and looked at her with a child's curiosity.
He looked her up and down ad said, "You're nice."
"Huh?" Mina said, confused.
"Let's form a contract."
"Wait, what?"
"A contract. Let's form one."
Hold on. We just met. I might be a bad person."
"You gave me food. You're nice."
First, I didn't give you that food. You ate it all without permission. Second, what do you mean by a contract? I've heard about beast-tamers who tame monsters and use them in combat and all that. But a contract? It's my first time hearing it."
"A contract mean we will be bonded. I will protect you and you will let me tag along with you."
"Have you ever heard of 'Stranger Danger?' Have you ever met a human in your life?"
"Nope. You're my first. Humans are weird. You're small. You have things." He pointed at her jacket. That's obvious. "You make loud noises with your stick." Her gun. Do I need to spell it out for you? Keep your mind on check. "And you smell weird. But not bad. Are all human like you?"
"No." Mina said. "Most would've tried to kill you in your sleep."
"Oh, that's not nice."
"No. It isn't."
The boy stood up and the blanket fell. "So let's form a contract!!"
Mina was startled. She covered her eyes and looked away. "Cover yourself!!"
"Huh? Why?"
"Because you're naked!"
Mina stood up and walked towards him. She picked up the blanket and covered him with it herself. "Do not take it off, okay?"
The boy was confused but still nodded." Okay."
"So? What's your name?"
"Max!"
"Okay, Max. I'll form a contract with you. But you have to promise that you won't use your beast form."
"Okay! I'm good at pretending! I'll be normal!"
"Do you even know what normal is?"
"You will teach me! Like a pet!"
"No."
"A little brother?"
"Don't push your luck."
"Can I sleep beside you?"
"No."
"But it's warm."
"Blanket. Ground. Pick one."
He pouted. "You're mean."
He walked towards her and stood right before her. "What's you name?"
"Mina." She answered.
He then touched her forehead with his and let his magic flow into her. "Mina. I request to be your familiar and see the world with you. Will you accept it."
"Yes." Mina answered. She had a feeling that she's going to regret it, but there was nothing she could do right now so she just accepted.
And that's how she formed a contract with a Mythical Beast. P.S. She's gonna regret it.
