Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: A  Ritual Happend In Village

When it's like November of the year and some rainy weather has just gone, then in the village where Harold and Luther live, there occurs a function or ritual called 'Mom is jibon,' which means 'mother is life.'

Every year it happens at this time, so the time has come, but little Luther becomes sad on this day because he sees boys and girls of all ages enjoying the whole day with their mothers.

Luther can't do this because he doesn't have a mother and also doesn't know about his mother, not even her name. Also, his dad is always hiding or ignoring this matter when Luther asks something about his mom.

The day of ritual has some, and the ritual has some specialties, like this day is just for mothers and their children; they are only having fun, and their dads or all the husbands of their wives are doing all the work and fulfilling the duty of work at home, like

cleaning, cooking, shopping, washing, etc., and homemaker wives only get to chill and hang out with their lovely children.

All the villagers happily obey this ritual with their joy, but our little Luther becomes sad for his mom.

Luther goes out from home and looks at streets full of people and children; all the children enjoy the time with their beloved mom. After seeing this, he can't control his emotion and goes to his dad to ask some questions.

Scene forward to home's back, where Harold is cutting wood for work and fire.

Luther said, "Hey Dad, listen, I have some questions for you. Dad, listen, please!"

Harold says, "Tell me, son, what's happened? Why are you so conscious!"

Why don't I have Mom with me? What's the reason why she didn't live with us, Dad? said Luther.

After hearingcutting wood, and his mind and hands both became numb, and his face became purplish.

I told you many times not to ask me these foolish questions; I don't like them. I already told you she doesn't want to live with us, or you think she is no more for us. Then why these questions again and again, Luther!

"All this," said Harold with an angry face.

Luther's face looked so sad, and he asked, "Why don't you tell me the truth? Where is Mom?" or what's happening to her! I don't even know her full name or her identity or whereshe lived or now lives. Why are you hiding all these things from me, Dad? Said Luther.

After this Luther said, "What's the reason? Don't you love Mom and Dad?"

After hearing these lines, Harold's heart just breaks into pieces, the corners of his eyes fill up with water, and his mind feels heavy; his body becomes calm, but his face is filled with anger.

"Thass thass," the sound of a slap. Harold slapped Luther and said, "How dare you, Luther! I am your father. This is what I taught you. This is the way you talk to your father. I didn't expect this, Luther! Get out; just go in front of me. I want to see your face."

After this happened, Luther started crying and just ran to the side of the hills he had gone before.

From crying and running so fast, he couldn't control himself and fell down.

But someone held him and lifted him up and said, "What happened, my friend?" Hearing this, Luther wiped his eye and looked at the face of who lifted him up.

It's John, the boy who helped him before and said he will wait for him, and there's friendship.

Then...
