Chapter 175 - Chris Redfield vs Choppa

At the forefront of the Ork tide were countless roaring Battlewagons. Closely following them were killing machines like the Morkanauts, Killa Kans, and Deff Dreads. The various Big Shootas, Kannonz, and Rokkit Launchas mounted on them opened fire first, controlled by the Ork Boyz and Gretchin. Instantly, a barrage of attacks covered various parts of the defensive line, raising countless plumes of dust.

"Attack!!!" As the order was given, a large number of armored vehicles positioned in the center of the defensive line opened fire fiercely. The soldiers in the trenches also stood up, aiming their rifles at the Battlewagons charging at the front. The large-caliber machine guns positioned at the foremost parts of the defensive line, in an instant, unleashed a terrifying storm of metal upon the surging Green Tide.

What the Ork Boyz wore was less armor and more like a bandolier for weapons and ammunition, covering only a very small area of their bodies. Greenskins were more accustomed to using their sturdy bodies to withstand various attacks head-on. The metallic torrent thus slammed into the Ork Boyz driving the Battlewagons with almost no obstruction. However, the large-caliber bullets that could tear an ordinary human body to shreds could only rip off a small portion of the Ork's flesh. The Orks, enraged by the attacks, became even more excited. Their injuries also recovered at a rapid pace. Only by continuously hitting an Ork's upper body or head could a heavy machine gun kill an Ork Boy.

The defenders had long anticipated this situation. Therefore, it could almost be said that every soldier was equipped with a light machine gun, and also carried a Plasma Cutter as a secondary weapon. As defenders, mobility was clearly not within the soldiers' consideration. Everyone was only thinking about one thing: how to inflict more damage on the ferocious Orks charging through.

The mortar squad in the center of the position began their attack, with numerous high-explosive shells arcing in parabolas towards armored units like the Morkanauts and Killa Kans. In such an intense battlefield environment, almost all soldiers had to wear shock-proof tactical headphones to avoid being deafened by the explosions. Thanks to the full operation of the Resident Evil world's military industry, at least the several million defenders on Avarax did not have to worry about the supply of weapons, ammunition, and other consumables.

"Hoo-hoo-hoo—" In a trench at the front line of the position, a fully armed soldier was panting heavily. Upon closer inspection, this person was none other than the famous Chris Redfield. Chris had been invited to join the Ishimura as a crew member for over half a year. During this time, he mostly stayed on the Ishimura and joined the Ishimura Security Team formed by Security Chief Hammond.

Upon learning the news that orks were about to invade Avarax, Chris made a decision that surprised many: he voluntarily chose to join the ground forces and become a frontline soldier. Even Chris's sister, Claire, who was also on the Ishimura, thought her brother had definitely gone mad.

"I am a warrior, and the battlefield is where I am needed." This was Chris's reply to his sister. Due to the intervention of Marcus and the Ishimura, Chris at this time had only experienced the Mansion Incident and had not even been to the subsequent Rockfort Island. He had not yet grown into the tough man from Resident Evil 5 who could punch boulders bare-handed and blow up Wesker with a rocket launcher; he was still a fresh face.

However, although he had not yet grown into a vanguard against BOWs, Chris had already secretly made up his mind after the Mansion Incident to eradicate the Umbrella Corporation and those blood-stained BOWs. As a result, before Chris could take much action, Marcus and the Ishimura descended from the sky and, in conjunction with the newly formed United Government, completely eradicated Umbrella. For a period after that, Chris fell into confusion, losing his goal. Even when he later received a recruitment from the Ishimura, Chris boarded the ship with the mindset of seeing what the Ishimura, which had destroyed the Umbrella Corporation, was like.

It wasn't until he learned about the orks' invasion that Chris found a new purpose: to protect innocent humans from the invasion of malicious aliens. And Chris, with only his combat prowess and skills, could only fully utilize his expertise on the front lines of the battlefield.

"Waaagh!" The war cry of an Ork Boy not far away interrupted Chris's brief distraction. Putting his helmet back on, Chris peered out and immediately saw a Battlewagon, spewing black smoke and fire, barreling towards his position.

"Boom!" Just as Chris was about to raise his rifle to attack the Ork Boyz on it, a mortar shell accurately struck the Battlewagon's already burning engine. Perhaps the Tech Boyz who built this Battlewagon had added some unknown ingredients to the engine. Immediately, a powerful sympathetic detonation occurred. Most of the Ork Boyz who had been roaring on top were engulfed in the flames. Only one Ork Boy survived and happened to land right in front of Chris.

"F*ck!" Chris cursed under his breath, immediately grabbed his light machine gun, and fired a burst of bullets at the snarling Ork Boy just inches away. The bullets struck the Ork Boy's green skin, but only splattered a spray of blood, causing minor flesh wounds.

"Waaagh!" The Ork Boy roared and then raised his choppa, charging fiercely at Chris. Seeing his light machine gun was useless, Chris didn't hesitate and immediately discarded the cumbersome weapon. While rapidly retreating backward, he pulled out the Plasma Cutter from his waist and fired several scorching high-temperature Plasma beams at the charging Ork Boy. He continued firing until an entire magazine of 23 shots was empty. The tall Ork was already covered in scorched marks, and his left leg had been shot off. But he continued to roar and crawl towards Chris's position.

Just as the Ork's choppa was about to swing down, "Bang!" A loud gunshot rang out beside Chris's ear, almost knocking off his tactical headphones. The moment the shot rang out, the large head of the Ork Boy, which had still been crawling, instantly exploded, like a watermelon being smashed.

After wiping away the rusty-red blood splattered on his helmet, Chris turned his head to look. Behind him stood a small squad of PDF Soldiers who had arrived upon hearing the commotion. One of them held an anti-materiel sniper rifle that was still emitting gunpowder smoke.

"Thanks." Chris put away his Plasma Cutter.

"Use this." The captain of the PDF Soldiers handed Chris a Focus Rifle. "The Orks have already breached the defensive line; this is new equipment sent from the rear."
