Chapter 14 - Chapter 14 Captain's Inspection

Chapter 14 Captain's Inspection

First-year students Hinamori Momo and Kira Iziru were both assigned to the Organization Department under Hisagi Shuuhei.

Everyone didn't have a very specific concept of the exact functions of each department in the Student Council, so there was no objection, only a desire to do their jobs well in the future.

Rukia's name was the last one called.

"Rukia, you will serve as the Assistant to the Student Council President."

Student Council President's Assistant?

Many people were surprised to hear this; was there such a position?

But soon, others looked on with envy.

In the eyes of these Freshmen, the Student Council President was a very important person, likely on the same level as a teacher at the Spiritual Arts Academy, so being able to stay by his side was naturally a good thing.

Rukia herself was a bit bewildered; she didn't understand what was special about her among all the Freshmen, and why she was specifically given such a job.

In fact, she didn't particularly like this special treatment; the various gazes from those around her made her feel a lot of pressure, even fear.

Ever since Renji was eliminated in the first round of the Student Council selection, she herself hadn't been very interested in the Student Council; it wasn't a must-join, and if Renji hadn't encouraged her, she might have given up then and there.

However, Hinamori Momo, who was beside her, couldn't help but gently pull her sleeve, looking excited.

Rukia suppressed her slightly chaotic emotions and responded with a "Yes."

After assigning departments to each Freshman, the Freshmen were led away by their respective department heads or senior students for individual talks.

Rukia, however, remained alone in the office.

Shin looked at the young girl before him and slowly spoke, "You don't seem very satisfied with this arrangement, do you?"

Upon hearing this, Rukia quickly said, "No! It's just... I just don't think I'm capable of handling such an important position."

Shin smiled faintly, "It's just a Student Council Assistant; it's not a very important position. If you're unwilling, I can find someone to swap with you. I don't like forcing people to do things they don't want to do."

Rukia's mind raced, and she felt that refusing outright would be very rude, so she said, "You've misunderstood... I, I will do my best!"

Shin smiled encouragingly, "I already said this isn't a very important position; you should be more confident. Even if it were a very important position, how do you know you can't do it? Just get familiar with the work these two days, and you'll get used to it."

At least the President is a very kind person...

Rukia thought to herself.

"Yes, yes, President!"

"Then you can go back for now; don't you have class this morning?"

In fact, after binding the Shinigami's Wedge to Rukia, Shin had some regrets. He hadn't known that this "Second Shinigami's Wedge" could be activated before. Shin had originally thought that as the female protagonist of the Shinigami original, Rukia's reward should be higher than others'.

But Rukia was also someone not easily won over.

In contrast, Hinamori Momo was much simpler.

But since things had come to this point, there was no point in regretting it; he could only take it one step at a time.

With Rukia and Hinamori Momo present, Shin's strength should enter a period of rapid growth again.

After leaving the Student Council headquarters office, Rukia couldn't help but breathe a sigh of relief, noticing Hinamori Momo standing at the end of the corridor, seemingly waiting for her.

"Rukia!"

Hinamori waved at her with a beaming smile.

"How was it?"

As soon as she got close, she heard Hinamori ask impatiently.

"How was what?"

"The President! You're the President's Assistant now! You'll be able to stay by the President's side often from now on." Hinamori Momo said excitedly.

Rukia was feeling a bit worried about this matter, and upon hearing it, she said, "I still don't know if I can do this job well..."

Hinamori Momo cheered her on, "You can definitely do it!"

"I'll do my best," Rukia also said, then asked in return, "What about you? Your department head is Hisagi, right?"

Hinamori Momo, however, seemed a bit disheartened, "Hisagi is a bit unsmiling, and the two classmates with me are also like that. The one named Kira Iziru also has a perpetually gloomy face; they all feel very dull. Speaking of which, I really envy you, Rukia, the President is a very easygoing person."

Rukia thought that was indeed true, and then she felt that someone with a more cheerful personality like Hinamori Momo would be more suitable for her own job.

With this thought, the already unconfident Rukia became even more shaken.

"Never mind, it'll be fine once we get to know everyone better. We all have to work hard, Rukia."

Hinamori Momo comforted herself, and then encouraged Rukia.

During the break, Abarai Renji, who was in Class A, came to find Rukia.

Rukia then told him some things about the Student Council, including that she had become the President's Assistant.

"President's Assistant..."

Abarai Renji scratched his head, feeling that this should be a very high position, like a Captain's Vice Captain.

Of course, he didn't know that there was a Vice President in the Student Council; he didn't know much about the Student Council to begin with.

But Renji was still happy for Rukia: "That's great, Rukia, it seems that President is quite discerning!"

"Idiot! I'm not some merchandise!" Rukia said angrily.

Renji corrected himself: "I mean your President has great taste, hahahaha!"

"..."

Seeing her friend genuinely happy for her, Rukia's expression softened considerably.

"Renji, since we've come to the Spiritual Arts Academy and our goal is to become Shinigami, we should all work hard. You especially need to do your best in Class A!"

"Ah, I know!"

Renji raised his fist, his face full of confidence: "Don't worry, Rukia, we will definitely become very powerful Shinigami!"

With the Student Council, Shin was able to skip classes openly.

Sawataku Minamida felt helpless about his behavior, but also knew that there was really nothing more he could teach him.

It was nothing more than advising him not to neglect his training, although Shin's overall strength was top-notch within the Spiritual Arts Academy, outside the Spiritual Arts Academy he was nothing, there were many people stronger than him.

Shin naturally knew this point; even with the system helping him improve, he would still set aside time for cultivation every day.

However, because of the system's character information interface, he could feel that his cultivation progress was very slow, far less effective than interacting with Rukia and Hinamori Momo now.

"A Captain is coming to inspect the Spiritual Arts Academy?"

Shin suddenly received this news from a teacher at the Spiritual Arts Academy.

"That's right, this happens every year, you should know that. This year, your Student Council will be responsible for the reception. The main content is to lead them around each class of the Freshmen."

Shin knew that the Spiritual Arts Academy had this tradition; every year, shortly after the new students started, a Captain would come to inspect the Spiritual Arts Academy.

One of the main reasons was to let the Freshmen see a Captain of the Squad Thirteen with their own eyes, thereby inspiring their belief in joining the Squad Thirteen.

"Then, may I ask which Captain will be coming to inspect this year?"

"Oh, Captain Aizen Sōsuke of the Fifth Divsion."
