Chapter 34 - Chapter 34: Making Games Like This?

The silver lining in their misfortune was that the mushrooms Kiana ate only had a mild hallucinogenic effect and were not highly toxic.

So, after Kiana, who was on an IV drip, woke up, they left Sirin to accompany her, and the others returned to their respective homes with peace of mind.

What was supposed to be a good celebration was ruined by Kiana's antics. As for whether they were happy, it was alright, but it was mixed with a feeling of being amused and exasperated.

Silently sighing that Kiana was truly an extraordinary woman, Nangong Yu and the other two opened the door and returned home under the glow of the setting sun.

"Sister Bronya, Brother, are you hungry?"

Having changed into her home clothes, Seele poked her little head out of the kitchen and asked Brother and Sister.

"No, not very hungry."

After Nangong Yu finished speaking, Bronya also shook her head. Their stomachs were still full from the barbecue, so they naturally didn't have much appetite.

"I see."

Seele touched her lips and said thoughtfully, "Then, I'll make some porridge tonight."

Seeing that Brother and Sister had no objections, Seele Drill back into the kitchen, took out the ingredients from the refrigerator, and started washing them.

"Back to the studio?"

"Uh-huh~"

Their eyes met, and without speaking, the two understood each other's meaning.

With Bronya moving back, the two people's studios naturally merged. Compared to Nangong Yu's simplicity, Bronya's things seemed a bit messy, with various documents and sketches piled up haphazardly. It took a long time to organize them to look somewhat presentable.

"Do you have any ideas for the next game?"

Closing the studio door, Nangong Yu returned to his workstation. While waiting for the computer to boot up, he asked Bronya beside him.

Their desks were right next to each other; they could easily reach the other by extending a hand.

"Our game has only been released for three days, do we need to be in such a hurry?"

Bronya was a little surprised. She hadn't expected Nangong Yu to be so enthusiastic about work. She hadn't noticed it before.

"It's not about doing it right now, just choosing a general direction first. Putting other things aside, at least the theme should be prepared first so that when we actually start working, we won't be completely clueless."

"Indeed..."

Bronya nodded, leaned back in her chair, closed her eyes, and began to think.

"Hatsune, help me create a new folder."

Hearing Nangong Yu's command, the mini Hatsune on the screen, who was bored and playing with her leek, immediately saluted him. Then, with a 'heyshu' from her pocket, she pulled out an empty folder, tossed it up with one small hand, and then swung her leek with both hands, slapping the folder onto the desktop.

At this point, Bronya tentatively suggested, "How about making a Metroidvania?"

Metroidvania is a general term for a type of game that adds a freely explorable 2D sandbox map, along with RPG elements like equipment and leveling up, to the foundation of side-scrolling action platformers.

In this world, the progenitor of this genre is still Metroidvania, so 'Metroidvania' is used as the general term for this type of game.

Looking at Nangong Yu, Bronya continued, "My alahato α was originally planned to use this game mode, but the workload couldn't be completed by one person, so I cut the sandbox map and leveling function. Now that there are two of us, I think there shouldn't be any problem."

She had some experience in this area, so it should be easier to get started.

"Metroidvania? That seems okay."

After thinking for a moment, some classic games flashed through his mind. He turned his head and met Bronya's eyes, asking, "Still want to do a mecha theme?"

He thought Bronya would be interested, but she shook her head.

"No, there's still a long way to go before I can create the mecha game I envision. Thinking about that now feels too early."

This surprised Nangong Yu a bit, but seeing Bronya's serious expression, she didn't seem to be lying.

"I see, then that will be one of the backup plans. Let's think of a few more, and we'll pick a suitable one together."

Bronya nodded, thought for a moment, and then spoke again, "Hmm... How about a sequel to to the moon?"

"A sequel?"

Hearing this, Nangong Yu frowned slightly. "Taking advantage of to the moon's popularity, releasing a sequel is certainly possible, but I still want to try a new genre. This kind of 'reheating,' let's talk about it later when we have sufficient capabilities."

Regarding the sequel to to the moon, although Imposter Factory might be slightly weaker in comparison, Finding Paradise is a work whose story can rival to the moon. He would make this game later when they had accumulated enough technical skills.

Therefore, he could only apologize to the players who were looking forward to a to the moon sequel for now.

Watching Nangong Yu, who was thinking while stating his views, Bronya suddenly stopped speaking. She propped her chin with one hand and turned her head to look at him, her eyes curved, with an undeniable smile on her lips.

Seeing that the person opposite had been silent for a long time, Nangong Yu looked over in confusion. "Why did you suddenly stop talking?"

"Nothing, I just regret it a little."

"Regret?"

Unfortunately, Bronya didn't elaborate on Nangong Yu's confusion. She just chuckled softly, leaving Nangong Yu completely bewildered.

She just regretted why they had separated back then.

The feeling of being alone versus being together with someone was truly too different. In a cold room, facing the computer alone, looking at the approaching deadline and the still heavy workload, Bronya had no other choice but anxiety and pushing herself.

But now, not only did she have someone with the same dream to exchange ideas with, but when she was tired from work and turned her head, she could see the person she liked sitting beside her. A little bit of acting cute would get her the care of the person she liked. This feeling was truly wonderful, making the monotonous process feel like a kind of enjoyment.

"I don't get it."

He muttered softly, and Nangong Yu listed the several game genres they had just discussed in a document in the new folder.

"Let's consider this much for now. To be honest, I'd like to make some large-scale games, but unfortunately, we're too short-handed."

Shaking his head, Nangong Yu began typing in the document in the new folder. For a moment, the sound of rapid typing echoed in the room.

"What are you writing?"

Haven't you already come up with a few proposals?

Curiously leaning her head over, Bronya watched the text rapidly appearing on the screen. Gradually, her brows furrowed, and her gaze towards Nangong Yu became a little strange.

To see more clearly, Bronya simply stood up and came behind Nangong Yu.

She bent down and lay on Nangong Yu's back, resting her chin on his shoulder, concentrating on the screen.

The soft pressure and the sweet scent from her nose made Nangong Yu feel a little restless for a moment, even slowing down his typing speed by half a beat.

Ordinarily, Bronya might have teased and flirted, but now, she had completely lost that interest. Instead, her voice was a little dry.

"This is how you make games?"

Hearing this, Nangong Yu stopped his hands and replied confusedly, "Huh? Is something wrong?"

"There are huge problems! Who writes out the plan immediately after deciding on the game theme!!"

And it looked so organized, clearly not something casually thrown together.

"Is it hard?"

This understated remark infuriated Bronya. Recalling the mental torment she went through when planning game content before, she glared fiercely at Nangong Yu and said irritably, "Otherwise? Do you think this is very simple?!"

For Nangong Yu, who had the entire game process in his mind, it wasn't difficult. However, he naturally couldn't say that again, so he looked at Bronya and said somewhat tentatively, "Hmm... If I said these were all things I dreamt, would you believe it?"
