Chapter 181 - Rose

Things stayed calm for another week after that, well as calm as you expect with the final exams approaching. We still had the rest of the month and two more after that before they arrived but already people were starting to cram for it. Ravenclaw in particular was buzzing as everyone rushed to try and memorize as much information as possible. I ignored this mostly to focus on refining my skill with magic. I still helped Terry and Mike when they looked like they were struggling but things were still really awkward between us. -

Hagrid took my advice and went to Dumbledore about the egg and the old man agreed to take it under his name. There was a stipulation however that Hagrid had to set up a place for the beast in the forbidden forest as it wouldn't take long at all for it to become highly dangerous after hatching. The golden trio had learned of the egg themselves and also about how I'd helped Hagrid about it. The big guy also let it slip that I could get unusual items somehow and showed off Ark and the Dimorphodon as proof.-

They looked at me a bit differently after that but never directly approached me. Even during classes when I'd regularly spend most of the time helping others they tended to act awkwardly around me. I suppose it made sense, I was different than everyone else in the school. Not only was I clearly much more skilled and powerful but there was several layers of mysteriousness about me that no one could explain. Hermione took it the hardest however as she was practically killing herself in a mad attempt to catch up entirely unaware that no amount of hard work and talent would surpass hard work and cheats.-

I was stacking the deck in my favor while she could only use what fate had given her. Still if she wanted to push herself chasing an impossible goal I had no reason to stop her. If anything I was secretly cheering her on as that sort of hustle was what it took to reach the same sort of skill and power that the professors had. And if she got the right opportunities maybe even where Voldemort, Dumbledore and Grindelwald sat. Soon enough I was contacted again but this time by none other than Ruby.-

"Testing what I told you I take it?" I asked with a raised eyebrow at the image of the girl sitting on her uncle Qrow's lap while her dad was right next to her.

"They really are frozen!" she exclaimed in awe as she noticed both of the ones with her frozen in time.

"Of course they are. I assume this was one of their ideas?" I asked not bothered at all by it.

"Mhm, my dad suggested it." she said while poking the others with a bright smile.

"It's not so easy to manipulate the system. Still was there anything you actually needed?" I asked calmly.

"Yes! Yang, my sister, she said she wanted a scarf like mine! But yellow this time! Oh and snacks! We want to know what sort of snacks a wizard eats!" she said just as hyper as ever.

I chuckled "An enchanted scarf and various wizarding snacks. How innocent. And what will you offer in return? I am a merchant after all, I need to make a profit somehow." I said casually.

"Uh, I've got lien?" she said awkwardly as she clearly hadn't thought about it.

I shook my head at her though "Your worlds currency has no value outside of it. Perhaps if I were to ever visit your world for any real length of time it may be of use but otherwise not even a little." I said frankly.

"You can come here!? Really!?" she asked excitedly.

"I could if I was invited in a certain way. It would be temporary however. Like going to stay at a friends house over the weekend almost." I explained.

"Can we do that now!? I'll get the pillows and blankets out and...." she started eagerly but I interrupted her.

"No." I said firmly.

"Wha? No, why?" she asked with the biggest tearful eyes ever.

"I'm in the middle of my school year. I can't just vanish for days on end." I said calmly.

"Aw man, I REEEEAAAALLLLY wanted you to come over!" she complained but didn't argue anymore.

"Perhaps another time. Now then since you likely will need some time to figure out a good way to pay for things you want from me I'll leave you with some chocolate frogs as a sample for you and your family to try. Careful though they will try to escape. I bet if you don't tell you dad or uncle about it they'll make funny expressions when it happens." I said giving her a mischievous wink as I sent over four chocolate frogs.

She grinned with an equally mischievous look and the contact ended. I couldn't help but smirk as I imagined the looks on those twos faces when the sweet treats jumped and tried to make a break for it. Still if nothing else this little distraction served to advance my agenda in that world as further proof was given of my existence being real. Ruby was already incredibly important to that world as a member of the silver eye clan that held a type of innate power because of their eyes that destroyed or greatly harmed creatures of grim.
