Chapter 89 - Two out of three

I stared at the scepter with a hard look as I knew what it was even without appraising it. The scepter of Zeus, one of three symbols of the mans authority as the king of the heavens. The other was the olive crown but I was fairly certain that was actually dust by now being nonmagical as far as I understood, I could be wrong though. Still I wasn't going to take any chances and appraised the thing before I picked it up.

{Item name: Zeus's scepter

Class: Treasure

Value: 70,000,000 system coins

Condition: Perfect(indestructible)

Description: The scepter of the wizard king Zeus himself. Made of the lost metal celestial gold this scepter is a receptacle for the knowledge Zeus accrued during his life. Before his death this artifact was entrusted to the Thunderbirds for safe keeping until his power reemerged into the world. Sealed away until a worthy wielder is found to inherit it's previous owners wisdom.}

I carefully poked the scepter with the spear in a vain hope that it would remove that seal without me needing to touch it and potentially risk my own safety.

Nothing happened.

"Yeah I should have guessed it wouldn't be that easy." I muttered with a sigh before carefully leaning down and tentatively grabbing the scepter.

It immediately heated up in my hand but I merely scoffed at it since I was all but immune to high temperatures thanks to my fruit powers. This "test" was supposed to be a test of willpower I figured out when I couldn't let the thing go. Unfortunately for Zeus my devil fruit voided out the no doubt agonizing pain this thing was supposed to be forcing me through. -

"Is everything alright Alex?" Flitwick asked concerned.

The heat died down and I felt a similar connection like the one I had to the spear snap into place.

"I'm fine, just had to finish claiming this thing. The second piece of the set along with this spear apparently. Since I already had the spear the test this time was voided out." I lied without hesitation.

"You should have let us verify it's safety before claiming it young Alex. What if you were forced into the hospital wing again or worse?" Dumbledore said with a stern tone.

I shook my head "It was left for me or someone like me. In anyone elses hands it would have an effect like that but not me." I said calmly.

"But you couldn't have known that." he insisted.

I waved the scepter and it shrank small enough to be put behind a bandage on my hand.

"I did though thanks to this thing." I lied while tapping the spear before I put it away.

"Perhaps that is true. A scepter and spear, a rather unusual combination of artifacts. With the lightning magical effects and ties to Thunderbirds I believe I've finally understood the source of them as well. Zeus if I am not mistaken." Dumbledore said with an intrigued look as he gazed at the two relics tucked neatly under my bandages.

"Surely you must be mistaken Albus!? Besides that pair of sandals that the Greek wizards claim belonged to Hermes there is no evidence those individuals were anything but myth!" Flitwick exclaimed in disbelief.

"I too share your disbelief but the evidence is rather overwhelming at this point. The spear grants young Alex here power over the sky and lightning and that scepter is headed by a magical creature well known to resemble an eagle, the animal symbol of Zeus himself. Despite how hard to believe it is Young Alex seems to have inherited two of the three symbols of Zeus with only the crown of olive being missing." Dumbledore said seriously.

"Maybe they were created to resemble that myth?" Newt posited helpfully.

"That is indeed possible but can you then explain how the owner of the scepter managed to convince the Thunderbirds to pass on that scepter even across multiple generations?" Dumbledore asked and Newt looked lost.

"You can all have an existential crisis about the origin of my stuff later. I still have an egg that needs to be discussed." I said with an annoyed tone.

Seriously i'm just trying to make a profitable deal with a big fish and keep getting interrupted. Even a saint would lose their patience with enough prodding and I'm no saint.

"How can you be so casual about what may be the greatest historical discovery in the magical world for centuries?" Newt asked incredulously.

"Because the things belong to me, why should I care beyond that point?" I answered with a question of my own.

"But imagine the things we might be able to learn from such artifacts!" Flitwick said trying to convince me.

"Again, they belong to me and their secrets are mine to know and mine alone unless I decide to share them. Think of it like all the secrets Dumbledore or Flammel must know but don't share. That choice is their own and this one is mine." I said firmly.

"While I can not say I approve. You are correct." Dumbledore said with a "disappointed grandpa" look.

"Good that we got that settled then. Now about this egg." I said with a casual flourish of the egg in question.

"What exactly do you want for it?" Newt asked with a sigh.

"I'm not so greedy as to extort an unreasonable fee from you but I am under the impression you happen to have a large collection of materials of a rare or even priceless variety. Naturally I won't accept anything common or easy to obtain such as unicorn hair or dragons blood but please do make an offer." I said as I walked over to the sofa and plopped down to get comfortable.

"You want materials? Not money?" he asked confused.
