Chapter 29 - Training (1)

It had been a week since the execution of Jung Minseok. The whole week was so hectic and frustrating for Suho. He was so bored and annoyed. Everyone in this place had irritated him so much that he had regretted his decision many times.

Suho was not allowed to do anything. Apparently, he was so sick that everyone had to keep an eye on him. Every time he tried to do anything some maid would jump out of nowhere and would scold him in their disgustingly sweet voice.

If he tried to watch something on the T.V, they would snatch the remote control and turn it off, sending him back to his room. They didn't wanted him to accidentally watch the news as it would affect his mental health.

It wasn't out of cruelty or rejection of not accepting him as another young master of the family.

It was to protect him.

Suho knew that. But, it still irritated him.

Somehow, after throwing a tantrum, he was at least allowed to sit in the garden, in front of the house. Staring at the fountain blankly, Suho was sitting on the chair.

A table was placed with four chairs, made of red-brown timber with traditional design craved on it.

The steady stream of water shimmered in the afternoon light, droplets scattering like a fragments of glass. He watched it blankly, lost somewhere deep in his thoughts.

He was unsure of what he was doing. Accepting Hawoon's offer?

Was it the right choice?

Should he have thought about it a little more?

Did he even understand what it was actually about?

He was lost between positive and negative thoughts.

He barely saw Hawoon since their last talk. He was busy with affairs related to meetings and execution.

Suho sighed, pressing his palms against his knees. The sound of the fountain filled the silence that hung heavy. He felt pathetic.

"Suho..." The soft voice pulled him out of his thoughts.

He turned his head to see Hajun walking toward him. A gentle smile lighting his face, two ice creams in hand. One was vanilla, the other chocolate.

Suho's gaze instantly fell on the chocolate one, his mouth watering at the sight. He gulped heavily but didn't say it aloud. It was his favourite. In fact, everything made of chocolate was his favourite.

Hajun sat beside, handing the chocolate ice cream to Suho wordlessly. Suho hesitated for a second before taking it.

He didn't said anything, not because he was being rude, but because he didn't know how to. He was still awkward around Hajun.

The two sat quietly, the cold and gentle breeze tugging lightly at their hair. Suho took a small lick of his ice cream. The simple familiar taste melted in his mouth.

Hajun smile softly, watching him. "What were you doing sitting here all alone?"

Sho shrugged, eyes still fixated on the fountain. "Nothing. Just... thinking."

"Thinking?" Hajun tilted his head. "About what?"

Suho didn't answer right away. He licked his cream again, letting the flavour linger in his mouth. "Just... things."

Hajun chuckled softly, nodding. He knew Suho didn't want to tell him anything. "Hmm... is it about my Dad?"

"Huh?!" Suho turned his face to Hajun, confused. "What do- haha..."

Hajun froze, blinking in confusion. "W-what... why are you-"

"You- your nose!" Suho managed between laughs, pointing. "You've got ice cream on your nose."

Hajun blinked before his face turning red in embarrassment, making Suho laugh even harder.

"Seriously?" Hajun rubbed his nose, smearing it even more.

"Hey! Now it's worse!" Suho laughed, clutching his stomach as Hajun whined, pouting. He was so embarrassed.

Hajun didn't said anything, and wiped the cream off following Suho's directions.

"I don't know!" Suho suddenly said.

"Huh?!" Hajun was confused.

"I don't know what I'm doing is the right thing or not." Suho began. "I just hope I don't regret my decision."

"You won't." Hajun said straightly. His eyes gleaming with something that Suho couldn't understand.

"I'll make sure you won't." Hajun pressed his lips before continuing. "And... I understand what you might have been feeling. If I put myself in your shoes I would be confused too."

"But, don't worry. If you can't trust anyone, you can trust me." Hajun reddened. He himself didn't knew what he was saying. "And, with Dad's help we will both get stronger. You will take your revenge and I would be able to reach my Dad's expectations."

"..." Suho didn't said anything and kept staring. "You... you don't have friends, right?"

"What? Where did that came from?" Hajun was triggered. "And, of course, I-I have f-friends." He stuttered.

"You can't even lie, shorty." Suho gave him sympathetic look, feeling bad. "Just say you are lonely and want me to become your friend."

"Who are you calling shorty? I'm not short. And, I have friends." Hajun raised his voice, offended.

"You don't and don't worry I'll be your friend, shorty." Suho teased him.

"Stop! I-I do have f-f-friends. I-I'm not short-" Hajun stuttered, about to cry.

Suho just laughed and wanted to tease Hajun even more but stopped after seeing him about to cry. He panicked trying to console him.

"What's happening?" A sudden voice caught their attention. Hawoon was walking towards them in his suit. "Hajun, why are you crying?"

"Dad!" Hajun ran to Hawoon. "Dad, he's saying I'm short. I'm not."

"Hah! My Hajun is not short." Hawoon agreeing with his son.

"Yeah! Tell him!" Hajun pointed towards him like he was angry.

Suho who seemed bored at the interaction decided to add fuel to fire. "I also said you don't have friends. I guess it was true."

"Hahhh!" Hajun was shocked, mouth apart. "DAD!!!" He shouted, ready to run back to Suho to throw hands.

Hawoon quickly stopped Hajun. "Stop! Both of you!" He raised his voice, voice stern and firm.

"Dad-"

"Hajun!" Hawoon gave him look to not say anything further. Hajun understood and backed away, not before glaring at Suho.

"So?" Hawoon began, "How about we go inside? I need to talk to both of you."

"About what?" Suho asked.

"About your training... and other stuff related."

Suho and Hajun both exchanged glances. "Are we gonna start the training, now?"

"No! Tomorrow!" Hawoon shook his head. "For now, I will give you schedule which you two will follow strictly. And, about the details of the training so you two would have time till tomorrow to make up your mind."

"..."

"Why do I feel like I'm gonna regret it?" Suho nervously said, which Hajun agreed with. Hawoon just smiled, but his eyes were telling something else.

"..."
